Two Anglers Lose Lives in Doonbeg Tragedy

They fell into the sea at Poline Bay this afternoon, and the Irish Coast Guard got the call around 2.15 pm. The men were out on the rocks when it happened, prompting a major search operation. Teams from Kilke, Dueling Coast Guard units, and the Aaron Islands lifeboat jumped into action, battling very rough sea conditions. That kind of weather makes fishing spots like those extra dangerous, especially off-rocky shores where one slip can turn deadly. Folks in the area know these bays can turn treacherous fast. By around 4 pm, a Coast Guard helicopter spotted the two bodies in the water, and the lifeboat pulled them out safely for recovery.
