001637 Central African Time, Assalamu alaikum, and welcome to our mother's Tribute segment. Every Thursday afternoon on Radio Islam International, we have a segment that is especially for all of our moms out there. If you have a mom, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, then please send through or on to somebody who's a mother figure that you really deeply appreciate. Please send your tributes through to the show. This is the second last one. Next week in Shala will be the last show. I'd love to read out as many tributes as I can. I've got two that were sent to me this afternoon, and also you can contribute to our question, which is what would you like to think your mom for? If you could think your mom for one thing today, what would you think her for? So the tributes' eyes follows. I've got a beautiful one by sister Zakhirah, and she says, this is the tribute she's written to her mom. She writes, my dear is mother Aisha, you have been a beacon of light for me through all my dark days. You and I know how many dark days

01I've had through my divorce, my mental illness, and even now you go out of your way for me. I cannot imagine a world without you. You are my most precious and beloved friend and the person I hold most dear to my heart. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you have done for me. May Allah ta'ala grant you all of you to us and grant you peace and great health and happiness always with love and respect. You'll be loved with daughter Zakhirah. It's a really beautiful, very touching tribute. The second one says, Aslamu alaikum sefirah. Hope you are well and having a beautiful Ramadan. I am alhamdulillah. Our mom Aisha passed away eight years ago. At the age of 52, after being ill for many years, true to the strength and perseverance shown by Hazid Asya, Radioao and Ha, who faced immense difficulties and hardships. Our mom too endured many trials in her life with patience and with courage. She was a double amputee for seven years.

08She used a wheelchair, yet she never allowed her circumstances to define her. Once she had recovered post-emputation, she continued to work hard and to support her four kids, run our home and care for us with strength, dignity and unwavering love. She was funny, she was witty, she was incredibly loving. Even though we did not always have much in terms of money, she always had a beautiful smile on her face. Our husband was a home filled with love and warmth because she welcomed everyone with kindness and open heart. No one ever felt like a stranger in her presence. Ramadan is the hardest without her. Every year she spoiled us, each of us with our favorites and never once complained. As children, even as adults, we were so deeply loved and cared for. There we never felt like we had a mom with a disability. We simply felt like we had the best mom in the entire world. She adored her grandchildren and spoiled them so much. Her face would light

15up around them and her love for them was endless. They brought her so much joy and she made sure they always felt special and cherished. Her strength lives on in us, her laughter echoes in our memories. Her love continues to guide us every single day. May Allah ta'ala grant the highest places in Jannah, forgive her shortcomings, widen her cover and fill it with light. May her legacy of love and strength continue through us. I mean, this is such a beautiful tribute and this was sent in by Sister Sophia who wrote a lovely touching tribute to her mom, such a beautiful one. Shukran to everybody who contributed to the tribute segment, a reminder that last week will next week inshallah will be the last episode. So please send them to my e-mail, safiraqaahgmail.com. They're getting cut off when you send them on the DMs on Instagram.

16So I prefer that you do send them via e-mail. And then back to the WhatsApp line, let's see what our listeners are saying. What would you like to thank your mom for if you could thank her for anything? So lam safira, I'd like to thank my mom because Allah chose her to be my precious mom and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. May Allah ta'ala grant her all the marhumas in the highest stages in Jannah, inshallah. Amen. Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, safiraqaah, safiraqaahgmail.com. You are welcome. It means so much because wanting the book, I was so overwhelmed because I've been having such a difficult Ramadan. I haven't been feeling well since the beginning and it's times like these when we miss our mom's the most. Life is so lonely and so empty without parents. But alhamdulillah, I have radio Islam. All the programs I deeply appreciated and loved to Zarqaahghair. Safiraq, I'd like to thank my mom for her strength. She was a small woman with a huge amount of strength. She got me through some very difficult times and I must have so much. I would like to thank my mom for listening to me. I know that she makes lots

19and lots of dua for me and she knew and dua. I think I would think my mom also listening to my show and for making lots and lots of dua for me. The way she raised me whilst my dad was away for four months in Jamat. This is another message. Every single year with patience, she gave us a good upbringing and I will be forever grateful for that. Assalamu alaykum Safiraq. This is such a touching segment but please want us so that we can get tissues before it. How do you guys think I feel? I'm like trying to control the emotions here. Everything from the shouting, we lost my mom seven years ago on the end day of Ramadan, on the day of Eid, Subhanallah. I would like to thank my mom for being the greatest nani. Assalamu alaykum Safiraq. I'd like to thank my mom for being the greatest cook to ever exist. I still miss her food right till today. So share with us what was the your favorite meal that your mom ever made for you and don't forget to continue sharing the vintage recipes I've been really enjoying going through the DMs and seeing some of these lovely

23recipes. Continue the WhatsApp messages. 0727861548. I want to share with you just a few interesting facts about motherhood and how motherhood actually changes our brains. So next time you making a doll for your mom, really, really make extra doll for her because not only did she give birth to you but motherhood actually changes the way your brain works. I'm sure you guys have heard the joke about mummy brain. It's actually true. So, women's or mom's brains get smaller and bigger. The brains of a pregnant woman undergoes a radical transformation thanks to the hormone surges. In fact, during the pregnancy and postpartum, the sometimes the brain gets a little bit bigger, the outer layers of the gray matter that control muscle movements, memories, emotions and decision making at other times reduce. Some researchers think that this is why moms become moody and forgetful. In one study, researchers were able to clearly see that the brains of moms

29are actively pruning away grain matter to make way for new synaptic connections that would help her to protect her and protect the baby. And that's why moms are inherently so protective because that ferocious mind-dwelling creature, the inner mama bee that exists within all moms, researchers found that this occurs in some parts of your pregnancy, particularly correspond to different parts of the pregnancy. And what happens is the brain becomes especially sensitive towards angry or fearful facial expressions. The strongest vigilance towards threats seem to happen during the second and third trimesters because this mom brains are building new synapses to adapt to motherhood. So actually, in actual fact, if you're very protective over your kids or your mom was very protective over you, it's because her mind or her brain was wired to do so. Moms are also incredible. Subhanallah Al-Alaah has created a mom

31so beautifully because the brains are created loving by design. Because of the synaptic pruning that takes place, the end-neural building, so the shrinking and the expanding of the brain, researchers have uncovered strong evidence that mothers respond to infant cues like crying, snuggling, sleeping with an increase in brain activity that governs the sections of the brain that overlook empathy, self-monitoring, and reflection. In other words, when a mom bonds with her baby by tending to their needs, the part that manages empathy actually grows, that part grows in the brain. And then the final one why you should make lots of do after your mom is that the membrane doesn't actually go away. It's very interesting because researchers found that even two years postpartum, you still will not regain any gray matter that you lost during pregnancy. There's a reason behind that because it's believed that the reason that mom brain sticks around,

33where you forget for or you forget certain parts, is that this helps the mothers to turn into amazing grandmother's later in life. So your mom actually lost parts of her brain to give birth to you actually. It's the same protective empathetic hyperfocus attention around the tending to children seen in brain scans of new mothers. This appears to help grandmothers lend a hand in raising the next generation. So not only should we be thinking our moms, but our grandmothers as well. Some interesting facts about motherhood.
