I'm Jessica Edinger, the way people travel

and how much they're spending has really changed in America.

People travel very differently than they did even 15, 20 years ago where, you know,

families are going to Portugal and Italy for Easter break.

That's CNBC aviation reporter Leslie Joseph's.

If that happened in the 80s when I grew up, like that would be in the newspaper,

that a family, you know, you're, it's like people would go visit friends and relatives abroad.

That's one thing, you know, I grew up in Queens, so a lot of people had family in other countries.

But to take a vacation to Europe with your family was unheard of.

Now, Joseph says people on budgets will spend less elsewhere these days to make sure they can travel.

And prices actually have come down, you know, over time inflation adjusted.

And it has become more affordable.

But the data showing that families, consumers are prioritizing travel and they're being more adventurous.

Adventurous to a point as airfares have soared with higher jet fuel prices

because of the war in the Middle East.
