British Transport Police got the call around 6.06 a.m. on Monday, March 16, about a casualty on the tracks between Leicester and Wellingboro. Paramedics arrived but pronounced the person dead right there at the scene. The police say the death is not suspicious and they will prepare a file for the corner. Emergency crews responded quickly but nothing could be done to save the individual. The incident caused big headaches for passengers on East Midlands railway lines. Southbound trains between Leicester and Kettering switched to bus replacements while some got diverted through Corby. Northbound services mostly kept running as usual. Lions have now reopened between Leicester, Corby and Bedford getting things back on track faster than expected. Still, some trains on routes from Sheffield, Lincoln, Derby, Nottingham and Corby
