Trailhead Improvements at Thunderbird Conservation Park

The upgrades to the trailheads include adding shade structures and new restrooms, adding historical and environmental signage, paving parking areas, and planning new native plants. All trails will remain open during construction. The planned improvements are expected to be completed in late summer 2027. The 59th Avenue Trailhead, between deer valley and pinnacle peak RDS, will be the first trailhead closed for improvements beginning April 6th to December 2026. Improvements at the 55th Avenue Trailhead are expected to run from August 2026 to February 2027. Improvements at the 67th Avenue Trailhead are projected to run from January 2027 to August 2027. Thunderbird Conservation Park is a 1,185 acre natural preserve located in the Hedgebyth Hills, dedicated to the protection and appreciation of the desert environment.

1:02Thunderbird Conservation Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, jogging, and bird watching. Approximately 15 miles of multi-use trails have been developed through the dedicated efforts of numerous volunteer groups, helping to make the park a treasure destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
