Trailer - Views on the News From the Couch

0:00My name is Jeff Cross, and welcome to the trailer for views on the news from the couch. My goal is to explore subjects that interest me and my interest you, with some occasional humor and less partisan spin. For years, I did daily, quick hitter news takes at the request of a 25-year-old who wanted something smart to talk about over coffee at work. I even did a daily podcast for a while. For a hiatus, I'm back around once a week trying to dig deeper into one issue at a time and get past the lazy left versus right talking points. I call myself a conservative that about the 40-year-ard line for Republicans, but even that gets confusing, given how far crazies in the media have moved the goalposts. For example, I can support single-payer healthcare under the right conditions. Greater gun rules that actually match the data, but done by constitutional amendment when appropriate. And I was for gay marriage before some big-name Democrats got there.

1:02My aim is simple. Call out the crazy on all sides and pull the conversation back towards the sane middle. And the biggie is encouraging people to read the actual source material instead of just repeating headlines or relying on the media to tell us what we need to know.
