Tragic Prank Leads to Teacher's Death

Forty-year-old Jason Hughes died last week after five students pulled a toilet paper prank on his property. One of them, an 18-year-old driver, accidentally ran him over as the group tried to leave. The incident happened on the night of March 6th at North Hall High School teacher's residence. The teens wrapped trees in toilet paper as a joke. Hughes came outside, slipped on the wet ground from recent rain, fell into the road, and ended up under the car. The driver and others stopped right away to help and called for emergency services, but Hughes passed away at the hospital. Authorities charged the driver, Jaden Ryan Wallace, with first degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering. The other four students faced trespass in littering charges. All five have been released on bond. Both families have shared heartfelt statements amid the grief. Hughes' relatives knew about the prank and said he was excited to catch the kids.
