Trace McSorley: From Steelers to Coach

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into a key off season, and there's news about one of their recent quarterbacks. Trace McSorley just landed his first NFL coaching role with the Buffalo Bills as an offensive assistant. McSorley entered the league when the Baltimore Ravens picked him in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. He saw a limited action in his first few years, mostly backing up others. He got more chances with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, appearing in six games with one start. From 2023 to 2024, he suited up for the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh's Steelers, and Washington commanders. Before this move, McSorley joined Penn State as an assistant quarterback's coach in February 2025. They planned to keep him through 2026. This hire marks a quick shift from playing to coaching in the pros for the former Penn State Star. Steelers fans recall his short stint last season as they either own roster changes.
