Tornado Strikes Jefferson County, Severe Weather Looms

It was rated EF-0 with peak winds of 80 miles per hour and a path of nearly six miles through the western part of the county. The storm knocked down power lines and trees, leading to over 6,000 power outages in some minor damage. Meanwhile, straight line winds hit Winston County hard, causing additional destruction and more outages in the area. Alabama power tallied over 18,500 customers without power across central Alabama.
