Top Curlers Step Back, Rock League Adapts

From Canada, this is your March 21st update.

Some top curlers have pulled out of the new Rock Leagues first season.

Matt Dunstone, along with teammates Colton Lot and E.J.

Harden, who just won the Breyer in Montana, announced their withdrawal on Friday.

Olympic gold medalist Tyler Tarty also stepped away.

The group needs a break after a pack season.

Dunstone, Lot and Tarty want some rest, while Harden is focusing on family time.

These players just claimed Canada's national title in St. John's, Newfoundland,

and Labrador earlier this month.

They'll represent the country at the World Men's Curling Championship from March 27th

to April 4th in Ogden, Utah.

Replacements include Canada's Mike McEwan, Switzerland's Benwash Schwartz-Ven Berkel,

Italy's Amos Mosonner, and American Colin Huffman.

Sweden's Linda Stenland and Italy's Mattia Giovonella will fill spare roles.

Rock Leagues kicks off its week-long event on April 6th in Toronto,

keeping the competition strong despite the changes.
