Top 10 Worst New CA Laws Passed in 2026!

0:00California citizens, you can sleep a little easier at night, at least for the next four months, because this week the California State Legislature hit its constitutional deadline for passing bills. They can't pass any more bad laws for the remainder of this year, but coming up, I'll have to give you the bad news. The top 10 worst laws passed this year by the state legislature. All that coming up and what you can do to fight back to get better representation in Sacramento in this midterm election. We should be cleaning up our voter rolls and having the integrity standards that give people public trust and confidence. And elections AB 1116 goes in the opposite direction. Now, something you can do about that. I'm Carl D'Amio, chairman of Reform California and a California state legislator. And that's right. This week the California state legislature

1:02had its constitutional deadline for passing laws, August 31st at midnight. And if they didn't get those laws passed by midnight, August 31st, well, they're out of office. They can't do any more damage to you and me at least not until January of next year when they reconvene for a fresh term. We've had a really bad legislative cycle. We've been able to prevent a bad bills, a lot of bad bills from passing, but unfortunately a number of bad bills passed that are going to do great damage to California families. They're going to fringe on our freedoms. They're going to increase our cost of living. They're going to make us less safe. They're going to destroy jobs. I have a list of the top 10 worst laws passed this year. I'm going to give you that list so that you can share it with your friends, family, and neighbors to motivate them to vote differently in this midterm election. If you don't like the bills, I'm about to walk you through and you shouldn't like any of them. Then do something about it. Join the fight to break the Democrats supermajority in Sacramento.

2:06All we need are seven seats to flip to our column out of the 120 seats in the legislature. We can do that. We got some great candidates to support. And what you need to do is go on the website reformcalifonia.org reformcalifonia.org. That is ground zero for our campaign to flip these seven seats and pass prop 39 for voter ID and pass prop 41 42 and 43 the taxpayer protection trio and vote down a bunch of other tax increases that are hidden on your ballot over 319 local tax hikes hidden on the ballot statewide. The way we do that, we raise the funds to get the word out, we get the volunteers to deliver our voter guides door to door in their neighborhood. But it's going to require that you step forward. 3:08in this fight. Here are the top 10 worst bills just this year. I did a different list back in 2025. But let's start out with AB 2624. The stop Nick Shirley Act, this makes it a crime for citizen journalists to capture video footage of fraud happening with your tax dollars by these far left NGOs, these political organizations funded by Democrats or worse phony hospices, phony daycares, the leering centers. Remember those? AB 2624, unconstitutional infringement on our free speech rights. It was signed into law by Governor Newsom last week. AB 103, the budget, bloated budget with tax hikes, wasteful spending, a billion dollars more for high speed rail, hundreds of millions for those far left NGOs, bunch of salary hikes and pension spikes for government workers, 12 billion in free taxpayer funded healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants. Oh, but families of four are going to pay $426 more for their health insurance premiums by virtue of a new tax.

4:10The Democrats are imposing on health insurance in our state. Insane. AB 2424, 2484 and AB 1408, along with a number of other bills similar, raises the local sales tax in your area. Some of the sales taxes are going to hit 11% in jurisdictions across the state. AB 2660, the tie the hands of police bill. This basically bans the ability for police officers to use less than lethal devices like tasers and electro gloves. Remember the Democrats attack police officers anytime there's a use of force incident saying that they were bullies and brutes and they abuse their use of force policies. But when when it comes to giving police officers the opportunity to use less than lethal force, Democrats are taking those tools out of the hands of law enforcement. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't, environment, but that's exactly by design. They want to make it impossible

5:13for police officers to do their job. The AB 2760, tie the hands of police bill or as I call it, the don't tase me bro bill. SB 113, the political slush fund bill. This is a bill that loaded up like a Christmas tree, all sorts of grants and contracts for far left NGOs. It's basically money laundering, politicians are money laundering your taxpayer money to their political NGOs, to harvest ballots, to register voters, to support candidates to lobby government. No bid contracts by the way, no transparency, no competition, it's all hot wired. This is outrageous. Funding their politics with your taxpayer money. SB 922, the hidden road tax bill. This basically allows governments to charge your trash company a road impact fee for driving trucks on the road. The car, the trucks can cause damage. Here's the deal. The money ain't going

6:17to go to fix the roads. It's just a shake down. Now, if you realize what goes on, they impose a fee or a tax on a business. What happens to you? Your price goes up. So look for your waste management bill to spike because of SB 922. SB 884, the no arrest zone. These politicians are making it harder and harder for police to do their job because they're declaring various areas of town, no police officers allowed, no law enforcement allowed in those areas. When do you think the criminals are going to go hang out? The places that cops can't go get them. I mean, you're basically doing everything you can to say, hey, criminals, go here. This is the safe space. Safe spaces for criminals. That's what we're going to call it. AB 1393, the government pension spiking bill. Now, there's a half a trillion dollars in unfunded debt right now. For California's state and local government pension promises, these bloated pensions, gold plated

7:20pensions that state and local government bureaucrats get. They get to retire at an early age as low as 50. They get to leave government and earn more in pension. Receive more in pension. Don't call it earning. It's receiving more in taxpayer-funded pensions with free health care, by the way, guaranteed free health care for the rest of their life. They earn or get paid more in pension to not work than they actually earned while they were working for you. Some of them are getting million dollar one-time pension payouts and then quarter million dollars every year in pension allowances every year until they pass away in safe. What's going to happen is we're going to go bankrupt. You're going to see massive service cuts and tax increases real soon because all of these pension promises are being kicked down the road in terms of the funding for them and they're saying, oh, the stock market's going to continue to soar. We don't have anything to worry about. Not what the regulations Democrats are applying to companies. The SB 10004104 bill, the Docks the

8:23Cops bill, this basically reveals the identity of police officers, federal immigration officials and federal law enforcement by saying you cannot wear a mask and you must wear a name tag. This allows the risk of being doxed and harassed at home, family members being threatened by law enforcement. Basically, no one's going to want to do the job if they feel their personal safety or their families' personal safety is put on the line. 80, 18, 96, the 10th bill, the police no higher black list, basically says, if you work for federal immigration enforcement, you are not eligible to work for any government agency in the state of California, no schools, no cities, no law enforcement. And this is at a time when we desperately need to recruit and retain police officers. A lot of times what we are able to do is hire federal law enforcement if they decide that it's change their job and want to do local policing. Nope, they're on the black list. They're not able to get the job, puts all of our safety at risk and harassing law enforcement just because they're trying to

9:25keep us safe. Some disarmable mentions relate to elections, maybe 182, allows Sacramento politicians to give preferential placement on the ballot for initiatives they like and put the ballot measures they don't like farther back on the ballot studies show that voters don't go and vote on those initiatives, making it harder for those initiatives to get fair treatment. 80, 1116 allows for online voter registration without identity verification. Again, we are just filling our voter rolls with ineligible individuals without very important safeguards and oversight and checks and balances. We should be cleaning up our voter rolls and having the integrity standards that give people public trust and confidence of elections, AB 1116 goes in the opposite direction. Now, something you can do about that is vote yes on prop 39 in November, the voter ID initiative, the bipartisan voter ID initiative, that is crucial to cleaning up our voter lists and restoring

10:30the integrity of our elections. Sorry, we raced through that list, rapid fire, but it doesn't take much to describe how bad these bills are.
