Every pick, every play, every game changing moments. This is You Better You Bet. Brought to you by Bet MGM on Westwood One Sports. Often running on a Thursday, it's great to be back on PJ Glass or filling in for Nick Costos on this Thursday. And what a Thursday we have. I think this is one of the most underrated days on the sports calendar. We're a week away from what many feel are the best day is the best day on the sports calendar, the two best days coming up next Thursday and Friday. Obviously pumped for the madness. But today in terms of the quality, quantity, college basketball games that we get, a lot of great teams all throughout the day. We got ball at 11 a.m. this morning. We're undefeated and 31 to know Miami of Ohio. So we'll talk plenty of college basketball on the show today. We'll also talk NFL free agency. The charger signer running back this morning that I think
could be a nice option for them for the upcoming year. Nice one, two punch to go along with Amarion Hampton. We got the first round of the players championship at TPC Sawgrass underway. Scotty Sheffler, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Thomas, I'll just teed off on the first hole. So we'll keep you posted on what's going on out there at Ponte Verde Beach. And we have the World Baseball Classic quarter final set. Excuse me. The final eight as the USA do advanced to the corners on Friday to take on Canada. Thanks to Italy defeating Mexico last night. A whole bunch to talk about. Steve Phillips is going to join us to talk some World Baseball Classic MLB coming up at 10 a.m. Eastern time. We're also going to have Tim Barbalace join the program as well at 1040 a.m. Eastern time talk Ravens Max Crosby, Tray Henderson, maybe get his thoughts on the Orioles with the upcoming season as well. So so much to dive into on the show today. But yeah, let's start with
college basketball and and what's going on as a reminder, you guys can listen to the show on Series XM 375. You can check us out youtube.com backslash at the costos. And we are you better you bet presented by bet MGM on Westwood one sports. Give us a call as well. We talk plenty of college hoops on the show today. Love to hear from you 310 840 49 10 again 310 840 49 10. If you guys have any calls for us coming up on the program today. Like I said, I think it's one of the most underrated days on the sports calendar, especially if you're a college hoops junkie. Today is a great day because the amount of college basketball that you do get it is worth mentioning as you watch games today and as you watch games tomorrow. One of my favorite stats that we get is we approached the NCAA tournament is that every team that is won the national championship since 1985 since the conference tournaments. Every team that's won the title has won at least a game
in their conference tournament. So as Arizona takes the court today as Duke takes the court today as Houston takes the court today you con we got Michigan coming up tomorrow. We got Florida coming up tomorrow as we watch all these teams play. They're going to be big favorites just about all we're going to be double digit favorites for the most part. If any of them get tripped up again that's going all the way back to some 40 years where every national champion is won at least a game in conference tournament. I think that's always one of the big talking points this point a year is how much stock do you take over these next three, four days that we watch these teams play. They just went through this entire regular season. They just went two months playing against conference opponents. But how much stock do you take over these next three or four days in neutral site? My answer to that would be I think you have to take some stock into it but I don't think it's the end of the world, right? It is great to see these teams on neutral floors. It's also important
to remember that these are all conference games. These teams know each other so well. A lot of these teams will be seeing each other for the third time this season but at the very least this is the second time that everybody is playing each other today. So a lot of familiarity it is important to see though how these teams react especially late in games, right? Teams that are favored you want to see one possession games, three minutes to go, four minutes to go. Do these teams turn the ball over? Do they execute? Do they make free throws? All those sorts of things. It's going to be a great day at college basketball and I'm excited to watch it. Again, we got games coming up starting in two hours with undefeated Miami of Ohio 31 and O going up against UMass. That's how we'll start to show today. Miami of Ohio is a huge talking point and even more so because of what the college bubble appears that it's going to look like with the 68 teams. A lot of people are saying this might be the worst bubble that we've ever had in the history of college basketball. It's kind of hard to
disagree with that when you look at the resume of some of these teams. Auburn who just picked up their 17th win of the season. They're the 12 seed in the SEC 17 and 15. A lot of people feel like Auburn is going to make it to the tournament this year especially if they win today against Tennessee which kind of gives you an idea of how bad the bubble is. But Cincinnati who is on the bubble loss yesterday. Texas who's on the bubble loss yesterday. A lot of good opportunities for like a new Mexico out of the mountain west today. Auburn who I just mentioned, VCU is going to play tomorrow. A lot of these other teams certainly be great if we get some bids dealers that are able to take some of these spots from some of these bubble teams. But a team like Miami of Ohio, I think they're good. I think they're in 31 to 0. You don't lose a game in the entire regular season. You've been taking everybody's best shot for about the last two months. I think they're good. Even if they lose to UMass today, even if they lose tomorrow, they lose in the Mac title game, whatever it may be, I think Miami of Ohio is going to be in the NCAA tournament. Now whether the committee put some
in that first forward Dayton, whether they just put them in the field of 64. We'll see what ends up happening there. But I think Miami of Ohio is good. It's become such a national story now. And the fact that they don't have a single loss. I mean, there's something to be said about that, right? The Mac isn't as great as some of these other conferences. Obviously Miami of Ohio isn't even favorite when their own conference tournament. Akron is minus 110 to win the Mac. Their big favorites today against Buffalo. Miami of Ohio is actually plus 220 to win their conference tournament. So think about that team that is 31 and O isn't even favored to win their conference tournament. I think they could be in some trouble today against UMass. I think they win. But seven and a half, I'm looking at that line. I think UMass probably will look today against the Red Hawks, some other early games that we have on the slate today. We got Virginia taking on NC State. The ACC tournament is going to be an interesting watch over the next couple days. Duke was the biggest favorite of any team in their conference tournament. They close as high as like minus 400,
minus 450 at some shops to win the ACC. They are dealing with some injuries, though. Their point guard Caleb Foster is going to be out for the ACC tournament might miss the NCAA tournament. Or certainly the first couple rounds Patrick and a gumbo. Their big man is going to be out probably today. And for the rest of the ACC tournament, although his status is looking a lot better than Caleb Foster's is, Duke is so much better than every team in the ACC. But with those injuries and maybe you question motivation a little bit, like would Duke rather lose the ACC tournament and win the national championship? Of course they would. Do they still want to win the ACC championship? Absolutely. But last year's Duke team, if you remember Cooper Flag got hurt. Even before he did, they were struggling in that first round game against Georgia Tech North Caroline and nearly beat them. I'd never lay that kind of price with Duke. But there's not really an ACC team that I would try and beat them with. Virginia would probably be the team. I think they're the second best team in the league. But I don't think they're the team that matches up best with Duke.
I think it's North Carolina, but they're without their best player in Caleb Wilson. So it feels like the Duke invitation and Charlotte this weekend. The Virginia NC State game will be a good one. NC State is a lot like Louisville who we're going to see later today against Miami as well. Those two teams have kind of beaten all the bad teams in the ACC, but they really don't have any signature wins. Anytime NC State or Louisville it feels like goes up against the team that's in the field, they lose that game. Very interested to see what NC State and Will Wade do today against UVA. And also what Louisville does today against Miami. So that is going to be that is going to be fascinating to watch for sure. Then we get into big 10 action. Iowa is going up against Ohio State. Buck guys are a one and a half point favorite minus one 30. Iowa is plus 105 on the money line. The total in the game is 139 and a half. I've been watching the big 10 tournament the last couple
days at those first games when Maryland's been playing. Maryland played Oregon on Tuesday. They played Iowa yesterday. And the theme that I've seen between those two games is that Oregon on Tuesday and Iowa yesterday playing their first game in the big 10 tournament. Both really struggled in the first half, which you can understand. It's 11 a.m. local in Chicago when these games tip off first game of the day. There's hardly nobody in the crowd. One of these teams are bound to start slow. And Iowa who plays at one of the slowest paces in the country. They're really not that great of an offensive team. Same thing with Oregon who's been abysmal outside of Pacific time zone this year. Both of those teams really struggled in the first half. Now Ohio State is a much better offensive team than Iowa is or than Oregon is. But I do wonder and that goes with a lot of these other teams in these early games. That's why I think some of these early games can be very tricky to bet or just games in general where you have teams that are playing their first game
in a conference tournament, right? It's a much different setting. You've been in your routine for two months where you're either playing at home, you're traveling to a city that's in your in your conference. You have your routine of you're either playing Saturday, Sunday, then you're playing Tuesday, Wednesday, midweek or whatever it may be. This is a lot. It's a lot different. So I think for a team like Iowa, especially in a game like this in Ohio State where it's a pickup early tip, I think that favors the Hawkeyes early. So maybe look to target Iowa in the first half today against Ohio State. I think they could get off to a hot start. St. John's is an action today against Providence. I think a lot of us want to see if St. John's and you know anybody can challenge St. John's or Yukon in the Big East tournament. That's really the big question. It feels like those two teams are on a collision course to meet at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. St. John's an 11 and a half point favorite today against Providence. Yukon's a 14 and a half point favorite against Xavier. It's tough for me to pick one of these other teams. Seat in the hall
might be your best bet. If you were looking for a team to maybe knock out one of these teams, I don't think Villanova is going to be able to knock out Yukon. Again, St. John's they're playing at home. I mean, they're playing at MSG. So for one of these teams to beat them, they're going to essentially need to win a road game. Seat in the hall did just play St. John's in Newark. That game was pretty close. Shaheen Holloway's got a very good defensive team, but I would look at I would look at St. John's at Yukon to meet in the Big East final. And then some of the early games we have today. Kentucky and Missouri. Kentucky at two and a half point favorite over Mizzou. Total in the game is 148 and a half. Cats are minus 160 on the money line. Missouri is plus 135. We've actually seen some money coming on Missouri. They were plus three and a half. Now it's down to two and a half. And I agree. I agree with that move. I think Missouri wins the game today. I think Missouri is the better team point blank. I'm not impressed with Kentucky. Now anytime you have the SEC tournament anywhere, but especially in Nashville. It's always going to
feel like a home game for Kentucky. I think they have the best fan base in college sports period. Kentucky basketball. I think is the best. Big blue nation is absolutely insane. Those people are everywhere, especially when their team is good, but they show up. And that'll feel like a home game today against Missouri. So I think maybe that's why the line is a touch inflated. I know Kentucky profiles the better team. I think Missouri is better. I think their size down low is going to be an issue. I think Mark Mitchell is going to be an issue for them today. So I like Mizzou plus the two and a half. I think they win that game. And then Iowa State and Texas Tech. We got a top 20 matchup. Cyclones fair by five and a half. These teams played about a couple of weeks ago. When after the JT top and injury, Texas Tech went in there as a double digit underdog and they beat Iowa State by double digits. So you would think the cyclones are out for revenge today. They're going to take away the three points shot with Christian Anderson Dominic at well. Iowa State was great. Yesterday against Arizona State. That game was over in like the first 10 minutes. They were up by 33
at halftime. So Iowa State looked really, really good. I kind of like an under in that game. I think it's going to be low scoring. I think it's going to be sluggish. I think it could be like a first to 70 kind of game. Totals at 143 and a half. So I think the under might be a good look there. We got some breaking news. My producers telling me in or Tyler's telling me in the chat, Colin Moore, Kyle with Drew from the players championship. That's not great because I bet Colin to finish in the top 10. So don't love that. And then also we're going to have Mike DeCorsi coming on later on to talk some college basketball. So looking forward to that Steve Phillips, Tim Barbolay is going to join us in the show later on as well. So much to talk about. I'll bring Tyler on in the next segment to talk about the players since we have this more Kyle breaking news. The golf is just underway. Still can get in plenty of bets with the afternoon wave and maybe some bets that he likes. How can we attack some of these things? But some big news there that Moorakawa with draw. He was playing a great golf. He had won earlier this year over at Pebble Beach.
And I thought he was a rear. He was a real factor today. There's actually a great trend for the players championship that I'll tell you guys on the other side of the break. The last seven winners of this event have all fit this trend. And Moorakawa was one of the six guys that I was looking at. So we'll talk about that on the other side. You better. You bet presented by Bet MGM, PJ Glass are filling in for Nick Costos. We right back. Finding great candidates to hire can be like, well, trying to find a needle in a haystack.
