Titans Rely on Slater for Center Spot

0:00On March 18th, the Tennessee Titans went on a massive spinning spree in NFL free agency, dropping nearly $300 million on more than a. dozen new players, but they've left two key spots on the offensive line, untouched, center and ride guard. Earlier this week, they released center Lloyd Kushenberry after a failed physical. Instead of landing a big name replacement, General Manager Mike Borgonzi signed veteran lineman Austin Schlotman to a modest two-year deal. Schlotman has worked with the Titans' offensive coordinator, Brian Dable, and Lion Coach Carmen Brasillo before, so he knows their scheme well. Now, he'll battle sophomore Jackson Slater for the starting center job, which has fans and analysts raising eyebrows. Slater came in as a fifth round pick, number 167 overall, in the 2025 draft out of Sacramento state. He barely saw action as a rookie, logging just 34 snaps in week 18, and a new coaching staff is still figuring out if he's ready to.
