Titanic Survivor's Life Jacket Sells for Record

0:00On April 19th, a Titanic survivor's life jacket just smashed auction records, selling for 670,000 pounds to a private collector. This is the only one from the disaster ever to hit the block in 114 years since the ship went down in 1912. It belonged to survivor Amelia Franchotelli and got signed by her and 11 other passengers who made it out. It's figured it'd go for 250,000 to 350,000 pounds, but Bid's skyrocketed way past that at the Henry. Aldridge Auction House in Devises Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge called it a once-in-a-lifetime piece, saying it shows the endless fascination with Titanic's tale and its people. Collector snapped it up quick, proving the story still grips folks hard. Meanwhile, a seat cushion from one of the ship's lifeboats fetched 390,000 pounds at the same sail.
