Time For Sabres To Truly Activate Desperation Mode

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by blogger, podcaster and recurring guest Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) for a discussion on several Buffalo Sabres topics, including reaction to Matthew Fairburn's Sabres piece in The Athletic last week, a rebuttal of sorts from a former team employee and Chris' post covering the hiring of Jarmo Kekäläinen as a senior adviser.

Fairburn's piece that essentially concluded the Sabres organization has been like a hamster wheel caught the attention of many fans over the last week and Matthew talked about the article in depth as a guest on this show last Thursday. Today Chris offers his takes on Matthew's story, which not only brought to light Kevyn Adams' rise to power but more/less painted a gloomy picture of the organization, one that's easily deserved after 14 years of missing out on the playoffs.

Also, a former Sabres social media manager (Craig Kanalley) wrote a piece on his Substack page that respectfully took issue with some of the topics from Fairburn's piece. The guys react to what they liked and didn't about Craig's post.

Of course the real story with the Sabres is what they're going to do to improve this roster, perhaps dramatically and end their playoff drought. It's pretty safe to assume desperation mode needs to be activated for the organization and Chris has some thoughts on what that may entail. Plus, Chris discusses his post on the hire of Kekalainen as senior advisor, perhaps a little Buffalo Bills talk and more.
