Former Calgary Flames prospect, Tim Erickson has retired from professional hockey at age 35. He made the announcement this week in a Swedish newspaper interview after foot injuries ended his playing days. Erickson spent his last four seasons with Tim Ra, K, and the Swedish hockey league, but only played six games last season and none this year. The Flames drafted him 23rd overall in the first round back in 2009. He never signed with him and got traded to the New York Rangers less than two years later. That move reunited him with the team his father Jan played for in the 1980s and 90s. Erickson bounced around the NHL with short stents on four teams over eight North American seasons. He suited up for 93 games total, scoring two goals and 14 points. None of those stops turned into the start and expected from a first round pick.
