Three Rivals, One Title: Northwest Catholic's Unbeatable Triad

0:00It's March 20th in Hartford. Let's get into the news. Three former rivals from Youth Basketball leagues have teamed up at Northwest Catholic High School and built an incredible run. Seniors Abbey Casper, Maeve Stonson, and Zoe Canning, faced off fiercely from 3rd to 8th grade in Connecticut Catholic Youth Organization, Play. Now they share at 93 wins and 15 losses record over 4 years, chasing a 4th straight state championship. Their partnership claped right away as freshmen when Northwest Catholic won its first title in the Class S division. They followed with victories in Class MM and Class L the next two seasons, beating tougher opponents each time. Casper earned state gatoray player of the year honors and just hit the 2000 career points milestone in a tight semi-final win. Coach Alison Conner spotted their talent early, calling them far beyond typical freshmen. Casper dominated with points and rebounds in those title games, whilst Stonson dished assists and grabbed MVP nods.

This season in Division 1, the road got even tougher, with a nail-biter semi-final against defending champ sacred heart. Top seeded Northwest Catholic, 26 wins and 1 loss, faces number 3, granite 24 wins and 2 losses, Saturday at 630. PM at Mohican Sun, with Stonson headed to Yukon for soccer, Casper to Holy Cross for basketball, and canning to Swarthmore for hoops. Their high school story wraps on a high note. No one expected three titles in a row, let alone a shot at 4, but these three made it happen through grit and chemistry.
