It's March 8th and on this day 55 years ago, two Titans of the Boxing Ring, literal heavyweights, fought in one of the most anticipated title fights in sports history. It became known as the Fight of the Century. On this day in 1971, Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier fought at Madison Square Garden in New York City. And the fight lived up to the hype. Ali initially threw more punches,

1:01but Frazier's punches seemed to pack a little bit more impact. In the 15th round, Frazier delivered a left hook to Ali's chin, knocking him down for just the third time in his legendary career. Frazier won the fight by unanimous decision, keeping his title and giving Ali the first loss of his career. Surprising fact, the two fighters would face off two more times in 1974 and 1975, with Ali winning both of those matches. Also on this day in history, in 1950, Volkswagen began producing the iconic VW bus. In 1951, the Lonely Hearts Killers were executed. And in 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished with 239 people on board. That's all for today.
