On April 29th, a gang of thieves got busted stealing 40,000 pounds worth of Ted Baker body spray from a parked lorry back in October 20, 22. The driver was catching some sleep in a lay-by in Trafford Park when four guys in black broke in and started loading up over 13,000 cans. Headed for bootstores. These guys drove down from Yorkshire for the hit, targeting the truck right after rolled in around 5.30pm on October 26th. The cop showed up quick after the driver woke up and called it in, catching them red handed transferring the haul to their getaway car. All the spray I recovered, no loss is there. The haulage company took a hit with a full day wasted and some strained business ties. The driver lost sleep in time, turning a routine delivery into chaos just before Christmas stock hit shelves. Now the last guy, Dempsey Lewis from Wakefield, just got 20 months in Manchester Crown Court for his role. He copped to the theft and skipping court, blaming a drug habit and expecting a thousand pounds payout.
His crewmates, Michael Sanderson from Leeds, with four years two months, and John Eastman with 22 months, already did time. Judge called it a slick, organized operation, hitting college rigs hard, but Justice finally locked the door on this crew for good.
