About this episode
The Truth About Heart Health
According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Although you may think “it’ll never happen to me,” you’d be surprised. Heart disease affects 1 in 4 people, which means if you have 4 people in your household, one of you is statistically going to be a trisk. In today’s episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, hosts Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin discuss critical heart research which may be contrary to what you’ve heard in the past. Let’s dive deeper into the truth about heart health.
While most people think cholesterol is bad for you and causes heart disease, that isn’t the case. The oxidation of cholesterol is what causes heart disease, not cholesterol itself. Dr. Ryan explains that “cholesterol is one of the most unbelievable repair substances in the body” and helps to mend blood vessels, the brain, etc.
Due to the environment and current state of the world, most people are stuck in a sympathetic, fight or flight state which can be damaging to the heart. The combination of chronic stress, toxins in the standard American diet, lack of exercise, and spinal misalignment all create a recipe for an unhealthy heart.
