The Therapy Twins

Mike opens the show by describing the coincidence of seeing tonight’s guest’s book on Amazon not long ago. Mike introduces tonight’s guests, The Therapy Twins; Joan and Jane. 

J&J define psychiatric entertainers and why they pursued this path of podcasting to break the stigma of mental health. Conversation then leads to therapy and the stigma around it. 

Torya informs Joan and Jane that mental health care isn’t covered in universal health care in Canada.  This fires the conversation about mental health and substance abuse, and Mike asks The Therapy Twins what can be done in a society like this to break the ice and help people understand that we need mental health services. 

Discussion leads to why people are so afraid to go to therapy, Jane adds some personal feedback from a client, and Mike and Torya talk about their own experiences. 

Joan and Jane explain why they both came out as professionals with mental illnesses and why they wrote their book.
