On the San Jose Sharks Audio Network. The San Jose Sharks Audio Network presents the Teal Report. Here's Dan Ruzinowski. The Sharks look to keep the positive waves flowing as they face off against the Montreal Canadiens in game four of this six game homestand. After two consecutive wins over the weekend in afternoon action, first against Edmonton and then against Winnipeg, the Sharks find themselves with 62 points, just four points behind the Edmonton Whiteers in the battle for the second and final Wildcard spot
in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Canadiens are having a really solid season under Coach Martin San Luis. After a 62 victory over the Washington Capitals at the Bell Center on Saturday, Montreal finds themselves 62 and 2 in their last 10 games and in a solid playoff position, although it is a wildcard spot, with 75 points, the Canadiens are in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, only one point behind Buffalo and Detroit in the battle for second place. And Montreal is also within striking distance of top-rated Tampa in the Atlantic. The lightning, second overall on the east, have 80 points, just five ahead of where the Canadiens stand. Clearly, this is going to be a great challenge for Sharks Hockey. Ryan Worsowski is looking forward to seeing how his team performs. Yeah, it's a good challenge for us. You know, this is a team that's fast, it has a little bit of east to west to their game, so we've got to make sure we're working to get above them and closing, and we've got five guys in the picture.
And then in our own end, we've got to be physical. We've got to be physical on their skill, get numbers on Pox, and it really doesn't change much, but there's obviously some skill over there that will make you pay, and you've got to make sure you're in defensive side of Pox. Over the last two games, the Sharks have not faded in the face of challenges, and they've responded well in gaining victories against two pretty solid teams. This game was against Edmonton, and the game winner in that contest on Saturday was scored by Shakira Mukha Madulan. The David, across the Sharks line, tries to turn it to his right, that's a nice block by Eclan. Eclan gets it back, moves down the right, there's a little pivot, makes the move on, McDavid turns, puts on the brakes, turns, drops it back, Mukha Madulan shoots, he stars! Shakira Mukha Madulan, lets the wrist shot go, and the crowd explodes in excitement Mukha Madulan makes it five to four sandals in. Then on Sunday, it was Michael Misa, who came up with the game winner. How about the confidence, the Sharks coaching staff
showing in the young guys out here, little dropped by Eclan. Here comes Misa, streaking up the middle across the line, he's to Kelsey, tries to split the defense, he shoots, he scores! Michael Misa, in overtime, is spectacular rush up the middle, beats Conor Hellibut, 2-1! The one common factor in both of those goals was that all six people involved in the goal were either 24 years of age and younger. On the winner against Winnipeg on Sunday, Misa scored the goal, William Eclan and Sam Dickinson assisted. And the day before against the Edmonton Oilers, it was Mukha Madulan's goal, assisted by Eclan and Misa. That's good news, according to head coach Ryan Worsovsky. Our youth has really come out here, I think the big thing coming out of the break is our young legs are helping us, whether that's create offense, transition, play a little bit quicker. Really in all three zones, we're breaking up Pox, we're going through the neutral zone transition quicker, and then we're getting on Pox in the offensive zone,
getting above teams. And I think it's obviously great for the organization to see the young talent, and then you get rewarded with, whether that's goals, and then ultimately team wins. And Vinny Deharne talked about the reaction the team had, to Michael Misa's game winning goal. I mean, I think everyone saw the videos of the pictures, and everyone wanted to see him to give him a hug, everyone was so happy for him. I went 18 and be able to bring out that skill set and just play his game, and be the player that he is, and that's why he got drafted so high. And that's why I think he's going to be an elite player for us for the next five, ten years. Yeah, I think he's really starting to get more and more comfortable, and it's going to be excited for the rest of season to see how he's going to play. And Deharne also added his emotions coming into tonight's game, as a Laval Quebec native, he always gets extra energy when he sees the Canadians uniforms. That's always fun. It's always fun to play against a bunch of y'all.
I always obviously bring some memories back of growing up, watching hockey, my brother and my dad, but on the other day, there's two points on the line and we'll make sure that we play hard against them because if we don't, it's going to be a long night for us. There will be a couple of changes to the lineup today. First of all, Yaroslav Askerov starts. He was in debt and made some huge saves against the Edmonds and Waiters on Saturday. Adam Gaudet, who sat out the last couple of games, draws in in place of Pavel Regenda, will be watching from the press box today. For Gaudet, it's always exciting as a Boston area native to face off against Montreal. Yeah, it's always fun to play these guys, you know, a big rivalry in Ottawa as well. So, saw them a lot last year. Obviously grew up a Bruins fan, so I always hated the halves growing up, but, you know, historic team and it's always fun playing an original 16. between the Sharks and the Canadians. The other one will be at the Bell Center in a couple of weeks on March the 14th. Both of these teams have come a long way this season in trying to establish themselves and you could say the Canadians are a little ahead of the Sharks and the total rebuild plan but that's a place where the Sharks want to go. This past weekend's success against Edmonton and Winnipeg was another step forward in that direction and Vinny Dayharnay gave us some thoughts on what the teams showed. It was good that we showed character. It was two high emotional games back and forth. And it was two different type of games which was really good two different types of win and one was a little bit more back and forth. The other one was more patient and we striked at the right time but it was very good for a confidence and then we just got to build on it tonight. According to head coach Ryan Worcowski face-offs are huge tonight. Yeah, we had a big face-off being this morning and something that we've probably haven't been great at coming out of the break is our face-off detail.
And it's been more face-off right at the line of scrimmage. So we can't be giving up chances off of ozone face-offs in particular for us. So that will be another big key for us tonight and as well as it will be our start. I think we've started the game pretty well. Maybe the Winnipeg was a little bit slow but we need to get our legs into this one early. One of the reasons that Adam Goddett is in line up tonight against the Canadians is the right-handed shooting center-ricemen who can take face-offs. Montreal's a good face-off team and Goddett is looking forward to that sort of challenge. Yeah, I think they're a good face-off team. They've got a lot of guys that take draws and kind of a couple of righties over there too that are really good on draws. So we're going to need all hands on deck and I think we've been working a lot on our face-offs and I can see the improvement in some of these guys and I feel solid out there as well so we just, we've got to help each other out though with the wings and you know I'm good and I will be helping us the out there when puck's back and you know it's always nice to start with the puck
