The major battle that split Satmar in two | Yumi Lowy
About this episode
In September 2026, the Satmar community experienced a major historic event. After decades of the community being split into two rival factions, the two brothers who led the rival factions met again. But not just anywhere, but at the White House. After so much time of hurt and estrangement, the rabbis wished each other a sweet year before heading into the White House to meet with the president, Trump, and advocate on behalf of their Jewish community.
This is a great time to look back at how this split happened and record some oral history. Yumi Lowy grew up Satmar and paid a lot of attention to the battles. These are his memories. As is the case with oral histories, other people will have other stories. I so look forward to more perspectives in the comments.

Hi, I'm Tasi Hernandez. As a parent, I know that I'm impressed and make all the difference. I have three young sons and I learn that kids don't just hear, I reward, they feel them too. The way we respond in tough moments, the sense of security we provide, it all matters. When we help our kids to feel hurt and support her, we help and then feel safe and protected. That's why I support first types of California and their mission to ensure every child has a stronger starting life. Lay them in more at firstfivecalfonia.com. So there are two parts of the fight. So there are the followers of each find but there is the actual family as well, which is the the saddest part of all. As the story goes, they did come together in their father's house. All of the kids had a meeting. They were discussing it somehow. Like listen, our father that ever is obviously getting older and things are going on, what should we do? And there were a lot of back and forth of screaming at each other. Again, I'll tell you what I've heard. I don't know if it's true because I have no tape of it
and no video. That's what I heard. But I know that they, yes, they definitely have fights within themselves. Hello everyone, welcome or welcome back to this channel. My name's Frida Bicell and here I export topics that interest me with a special emphasis on Sapmer Hasitic Judaism, which is the world that I come from. There are actually two Sapmer groups today, two rabbis, two sex. How did this happen? Well, I lived through the split, although I didn't pay much attention to the feud at the time, but I did know that it was a major saga in the community. Today I'm so glad to speak with someone who truly watched the whole thing happen from the inside. I'll be talking to the popular Jewish singer and recording artist, Yomi Loey. Yomi grew up Sapmer in Williamsburg where the fight really went down. I'm really looking forward to his account because Yomi is not an outsider academic or journalist, but an insider who lived it. I will link Yomi's work in the video description,
so make sure to check that out. I want to pause before we begin for just a moment to thank my channel members who support my work. It means a lot. And thank you and hello to Yomi. Hello. How are you? Thank you for having me. I'm doing good. Okay. Good. Right now, the two Sapmer brothers shook hands at the White House. Yeah, just saw. I just saw in the news. Something good came out of it. Yeah, 20 years. You never know when things might fall. But let's start the story. Not jump to where we are now. The story of the two title bound brothers who ended up being leaders of separate sect. Before we start to tell a story of how that happened, do you mind to explain your own background, how you're connected to this? What makes you an authority, so to speak? Sure. So as you said before, I grew up in Wengisburg, went to Sapmer. When were you born? I was born in 1982.
Okay. I'm 85. A little older than you. We're the same age, basically. What years did it happen? So this, I would say, started in the late 90s. I believe. So basically we were growing up and watching it happen. Yes, yes. I was a teenager. And I remember vividly how the things started. Basically, my family doves in a school called Sigit. At Wengisburg. So Rebaron, which is the Rebar of Monroe. The older brother. The Sigit. Yeah, the older brother got that that school from his father long before he became the, the, the rov in Monroe. So even after he left Wengisburg and he went to Monroe to become the rov over there, he used to come during the year for a few, a few times. Like I remember, he would come for sickus the second day. So that was going on for years and years. Every year he would come. So it was started a lot of people. So Monroe came in. So a few of Rebaron's close people were davening in Sigit. A few of his close confidants were davening there in Sigit.
And they were always talking, you know, before, before lining, they would go down, make a dish and there would always be like as we call it a Yiddish, a Kipka. And so I would listen then. And I started hearing that behind the scenes, something is brewing in the sophomore and the sophomore community that the Bite of Moisha's, the, the sophomore at that time, Rev Moisha, the Bite of Moisha, that his got boy and his close people are trying to sway their, their adab because everybody knew Rebaron was the oldest son. He's the oldest son, okay? So technically everybody knew that he will be daven. And that's why obviously he was put in as the, they're of in Monroe and he would take over daebashov, you know, the leadership. But the thing is, not everybody really liked him. As I don't think anybody had, you know, likes every, not, not everyone has to see them, you know, from old people. So the, so the story goes that they've got boy, the right hand people of the Rebaron, Rev Moisha were telling
certain things to, to Rev Aron in Monroe, you should do this, you should do that. They were trying to dictate stuff. And he's not the type that takes forcing around a dictatorship very lightly. He's the type he makes his own decisions in the pen group. He's a very strong, strong minded personality, the people that know him will know that. So they started having some kind of friction there. And basically the people close to Rev Moisha said, okay, if you're not going to listen to us, we're going to bring in another brother who listens to us basically. So, the president of the light was actually not not even, he's not the second son. The second son is a rebel, and then is the president of the light who was the Sigitte Ruf in Barra Park at that time. I gave him a shoul in Barra Park where Rev Moisha was originally when he came to New York, he lived in Barra Park and he was Sigitte Ruf in Barra Park. Then he went to Williamsburg. So Rev Moisha, he was the first one to come to the bar of Barra Park. And then Rev Moisha got that shoul when Rev Moisha became
so whenever he went to Barra Park and he was always Sigitte Ruf in Barra Park. So Rev Leeper was not basically interested in the revist of he was more in the business world than he was running a part of the school and stuff like that. He was working on 82 year, which is the main office of the sophomore schools. So it wasn't, wasn't going to be him. So the next one was Rev Moisha. Rev Leeper was a small shoul to become like a big Rev El Williamsburg. So they sent him off to Israel to be a role of Satma Yerushalayim, which was a nice title. So they sent him to Yerushalayim. And of course it was always with the blessing of Rev Leeper. Rev Leeper said that Rev Leeper is appointing him to be Yerushalayim the Ruf at that point. And then later on they brought him into Williamsburg and they made him the Ruf of Williamsburg. Meaning the Zereba, Rev Moisha, but he was older. So there's always, sometimes some in some kilos they have a son that's like sort of a vice president, you know, he is the Ravatsu where they call.
So they made him the Ruf next to his father in Williamsburg. And again, there was a whole as they call it a ceremony of Ture. It was like a crown. Crowning exactly. So they made a whole crowning event and he was picked. Where is Moses Tadobam in all of this? This is an old man and he started becoming a little forgetful. He had like early dementia. And at that point you could basically do with him whatever you want. You could tell him, oh, your son is here. Look, he wants to, you know, unfortunately, the close people of the Rev Leeper, they were as they say riding the ship at that point. So but everything, everything was with the Rev Leeper. The Rev Leeper came to this crowning and then he was dancing. And you could have just told him, you know, your son that is on the light came the Simcha, you could have told him it's a wedding. He had no idea. Not but it was very sad. Would it be fair to say that the narrative that the father had dementia and his handlers were pushing the agenda and bringing in the younger brother that this is a narrative that the Aaron faction put forth?
Or is it something everyone agrees on? No, you can definitely say that. So I'm sorry, I should have said it before. I was going to come to that. So I want to make it clear. I don't take any size over here. I am not officially affiliated with sophomore these days and I have friends and family on both sides. So I'm not taking any sides. You were asking me how the story went out. So this is the way I know it. But you're right because because my family is from Rev Lorenzite. So this is what I was always told what your 100% right. If you're asked anybody from Rev Zama life side, they will tell you what are you talking about? They rebel himself for the father Rev Moyshel wanted his son or Zama like to be in Williamsburg and his older son Rev Aaron to stay in Monroe. It makes sense. Again, it's an iffy thing because he wasn't at his right mind. But listen, I can I can hear both sides. But the fact let's go to facts. The fact is that he was hired to be in your Shaliam and then he was brought to Williamsburg. How it happened and who said that doesn't matter right now.
The fact of the matter is that the people that are still Hasidim from Rev Aaron did not like this. That he's being brought in Williamsburg and then made Derov in Rodney, Sopmer Shul next to his father. That means that the older brother is out. So that didn't fit well with them. So they started and they were very open about their opinions to say it nicely. So I remember as he came to Williamsburg, it wasn't pretty. What year was this? I would say in 98 or 99 because I remember so I went to learn in Antwerp by Rev Aaron from Monroe's oldest son, Rennman Ruh. He was appointed Sopmer Ruh in Antwerp. Antwerp. I remember. So he went there, he made a Shiva and because I doubted in his shia, my father was part of the Anvola and Sopmer in Antwerp in his shiva. So I was shipped off to Antwerp, actually had a very nice year over there. But I remember that was already in the middle, so that was 2000.
So 98, 99 is when I think he came, the Rev Zama life was appointed Derov in Williamsburg and he started going to weddings. People were inviting him and it did sit well with the Hasidim of Rev Aaron and the teenagers were running after him when he would walk their weddings and yell and certain means. And then it was ugly. I remember being a teenager, it just didn't sit well with me. It was very ugly every night, every night they would like, they would the same group of teenagers that would like run after him and call him name like Zali or whatever. I think he would, yeah, that's where he was called at that point because when it was a kid, he was called Zali. So now, you know, apparently you could make fun of him. And then during the Yom Tiv, again, I don't remember exactly which year this was. But this is the famous. There's videos of it that they went into that coffees in Rodney and this before this is actually a community from the almost famous podcast. You ever notice you and your spouse keep saying we need to get away, but you never actually plan anything.

I have honest people made their own buildings in Lonesbury because they were still hoping that they might be able to take back the ownership of no Rodney and make it. So Rodney and maybe some of the schools.
So it was chaos every time there was a Yom Tv. Both people went in the people that are okay with the Rizam Alive and then Rebaazim they were like, what's the size? What do you think? It's our Rev.2. Rebaazim, the father was, they were a see them of him. So the people that came from Morocco together with Rebaarim, they went into the Ravne but fights broke out. Again, teenagers mostly, mostly teenagers and let's say young guys that just got married, they decided to take matters into their own hands and they started. They ripped out the, how do you call a stender? I was like the podium. I think the whole, the, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the, the books, a podium that was put in there for Rizam Alive next to his father's, you know, so he was standing next to his father. And these guys came in in the morning and ripped it out and Rizam Alive's people had put in security. So the security you were trying to, you know, to push them out and the Shlubans a whole fight ensued and it was just very ugly. There are videos from it and if you watch it, it's embarrassing to say the least.
Yeah, did you ever participate? No, never. I, I by nature, I, I don't fight. I stay away when I see a fight. I cross over to the other side. So I didn't even go. I didn't go to wrap me. I was probably sleeping at that point. There wasn't like nine in the morning. It has, has the, you know, the coiffers, the energy. I'm still with my coffee. This guy's already schlepping out the, from the floor. I have that energy. But how would you explain for outsiders how a holy people will get so violent with each other? It's very simple. When you believe, when you have a certain belief and I hate to, you know, to connect it or to compare it to our cosmos, the Arabs. But how do you explain how a person could do a G-Hound? He really believes that he's going to go on, go to heaven and have 70 versions of stuff. I mean, these are people. Yeah, I know. Fine. We say that they're, they're evil. No, not all of them are evil. They have a certain belief. And when you have a belief, you believe it's so strong in your heart that it's literally for, for God, then you do it.
And these people truly believe in their heart of hearts that they're doing it as you say in, in, and they'll do anything, even though it's, it's, first of all, can we talk about how many things you're, you're crossing the line over here? It's Yantuf. You're ripping out something from the floor. It's not allowed. It's not yours. You're making, you know, creating damage. It's someone else's property. And you're creating damage for that person. I mean, so many things I can give you a laundry list of things, but they're not thinking that way. This is for all the way for the cause. And they see the other side so wrong that their way is right. It's, it's, you can't understand it. If you're not in that mindset that you're doing it really for the cause, you can't understand it. Listen, again, I'm not taking any sides. Both, both sides have their, you know, wrong doings that they did on both sides. Who started? Who the fights were just ugly, ugly? So what have the beside, yeah, I just want to tell you what happened. So that, yeah, yeah, go on Yantuf.
And I also, I remember going to shoo like 930, 10ish, I saw stuff going on on the street by Rodney, quarter, and back for there was already people like Runde, there was police coming, you know, there was, so I saw something was going on. So the police basically cleared out the building. They said everybody gets get out. So there were cons of people on the street, our Rodney street. Now my grandfather lived right across Rodney, right across the shoo. So I went up to the, you know, the top of the stair and I watched everything. It was just ugly people going at each other and, you know, one big person, grabs someone else's hat and throws it. It was, it literally looked like like Harva, but that was very ugly. At a certain point, I guess, you know, the police, I think a few people got arrested also and they dispersed the situation. So I went on to the my shoulder, to Sigith and everybody was talking about it. It was the talk of town. But at the end of Yom Tsev, the facetum always have a, as we call, Bagliten.
Okay, they walk with the rabbit from the shoo till his house and they sing and dance and clap and then the rabbit goes into his house, comes out on the, on the front porch and he talks. He gives a blessing for the, you know, for the summer, for the new year, whatever it is, whether it's, it's, it's Pysahor, it's sick as, so that was sick as so. He says that he's in Vinte, which is everyone should have a good and healthy winter and he blesses everyone. So that part of it, I remember it was also chaotic and people from both, from both sides were like walking and pushing and shoving and literally riots broke out. I remember it like today and they took Moisha Gabba's car, Moisha Friedman, which everybody calls Moisha Gabba. He was the right-hand man to her of Moisha. His car was parked somehow over there and I remember teenagers, a lot of teenagers literally rolled it over, they picked it up and they rolled over his car to the middle of the intersection and yelled and screamed and it was literally riots. And that was ugly. That was very ugly.
So which degree would you say all of these politics, which is what we often call it the politics. All of these politics are a release valve for testosterone-fueled men and boys who are looking for something to spar over. It's like pro wrestling or it's like sports where you have these competitions. I'm wondering what you think about that. That's interesting. That's a very interesting thing. It was brought up already a few times because I'm a sports fan. I'm a fan of the Yankees, the NAICS, the Giants, and my family is not really like I have a brother, right? And he's not into sports. So when I talk about the Yankees, he would laugh. He would like, what do you know about this player? You know the player? Why are you even interested? So I explained to him, I said, look, just like you're a fan of Rabadam and some people are fans over the summer life. Same thing. You have the Yankees, you have the meds. So for them, that's a sport. So he would tell me, no, don't compare. You know, this is a co-efficient thing, sports. So I don't think to be honest with you, no, knowing the most chacidum, they don't look at it as a sport.
As I explained to you, when I answered you, how a person could really do that to start hitting people, he would never do that. He wouldn't just walk into a wedding and start hitting, right? But when he believes that bad guy is hurting his rebe, he believes that it's a mitzvah to hurt him. So when they go out in the yellow, fooooo, or something like that, the woow, woow, woow. Yes, the adrenaline, I'm sure, you know, it's a part of it, but the thing that drives them is their belief that they are right, their rebe is right, their rebe, their rule, or whatever should really be in Rodney. And the fact that the other side is throwing him out is wrong, and we have to do something about it. We're not going to sit quietly and that's what drives it. I don't think that's the story. I don't think that's the story. I have another question that I feel is very important. Most of the time when we talk about the split between the two brothers, it sounds like two brothers fighting. But so far, you've actually talked about the community fighting. There is Moisha Gaba, the aide to the grand rabbi who is installing the younger brother, pushing out the older brother, and the community members going at each other is like crazy, especially that that simple story.
What happened between the two brothers? Yes. So, okay, so there are two parts of the fight. So there are the Haseedim, right? The followers of each fine, and there's the right and man, but there is the actual family as well, which is the the saddest part of all. So yes, they were actually, so they as the story goes, they did come together in their father's house. So, I think all of the kids had a meeting and I think that the couple and we're also there. Maybe at a certain point from what I heard, they were like sent out, but Moisha Gaba, I think, because he was so close to the house, he was like a son. So, he stayed there and they were discussing it somehow. And our father is obviously getting older and things are going on. What should we do? What's with this? And there was a lot of back and forth of screaming at each other. Again, I'll tell you what I've heard. I don't know if it's true because I have no tape of it and no video. But what I heard is that the first time I ever stood up, he's the oldest son and he spoke and he was like saying things.
And sometimes I'm alive, yelled at him that you're just waiting for our father to die because you want to take over the whole thing. And so he said like a pussy in an image that says like you're waiting for somebody that's waiting for a father to die. That's what I heard. I don't I cannot confirm it, but I'm just telling you, but I know that they, yes, they definitely have fights within themselves. And so, the father, the grandmother, the grandmother, the father didn't go to his son's family operation. And so, he went on, not only that, any of his grandkids or kids that wanted to come into the grandrab by their grandfather to get a blessing or to say to wish a good year, they were not led into the house. And that's a fact. That's actually a fact. Again, maybe the grandrab by himself didn't want to see them. I don't know.
But the fact is they wanted to go in because I know from Remendyl from his wife, I know that she wanted to go in with the kid that was getting engaged and she was literally told, no, you can't come and she lived around the corner. So it was very, it was very ugly, very sad that you know the kids and grandkids from Rebaren were not led into their grandfather when he was still alive up to a certain point. Yeah, I'm trying to see if I'm forgetting certain parts up until he passed away. The grandrab I. This is Ashley Akinetti from the almost famous podcast. Personality wise, they're totally different. Rebarin is a force to reckon with. He is energetic to say the least. Anybody that knows them know that maybe you even know that growing up in Monroe, your father being involved a little bit in the community there. He is the doer. You can even say that he might be a little hyper or something like that. He is just a force. Whatever he does, he does fully, fully, I mean I was in Monroe in Yashibar. Before I got married, I was in Namasifta in Monroe and I saw him every day. The guy, the way he walks, the way he talks, he's a doer. Whether you like it or not, maybe even when he says something that's not so nice,
he says whatever is on his mind. Some people don't like that actually. But if you are on his good side, he'll definitely take care of you and help you. So that's hang. And he's known to be a big scholar. He's known to be a very big scholar and learner and he gives a lot of speeches. He's being invited by even the lit-fisher people to give speeches. He's known as a scholar. Again, that doesn't mean anything. By the way, I'm just clearing it up. A scholar means someone that learns a poet, that learns the actual poem and he knows a lot and he's a scholar. So obviously he'll know and how to give a speech. But if Zamolai is known to be more laid back and everything in his speeches with people is not, he's not aggressive. He'll do what he's being told. That's the type of person that he always was and he is. So some people see that as a lack of leadership because when you're a rebel of thousands of people, you have to be a doer. You have to think he doesn't bother him as long as he's good and pie is due.
And he learned, he learned a lot as you know, as the years went on, he came a long way. He had to learn how to talk about people, how to give speeches, but totally, totally different from his older brother. You know, I wonder, did he want to absorb the life of the leadership? Do you think he wanted the leadership? That's a very good question actually. I have asked that question many times. Was he forced into it or did he want it? Because he's not crazy. He knows the type of person that he is and coming from a shul in Barapare to lead a big big Kihilah and Williamsburg is not an easy thing. I hope it had to be a little tough on him. I'm sure. But maybe he was taught he listened. I'm sure he was thinking about it a lot when he was younger because he knew that his father is a grand rabbi and eventually he might someday take over some parts of the thing. So I would say, I don't tell you yes. He was, he was, he was okay with it. You know, I'll tell you, when I was a kid, there were the people who loved the Dabishamas, the things around the rabbis, like the royalty they would go, they would be involved.
I wasn't very interested and I wasn't close to it. I tuned it out. Although my father was so into the fight. Wow. But when I was a child, we went every year, some Kostaita, the end of Sukhas, to Williamsburg to be with a grand rabbi. The father was the rabbi at the time and to participate in the bug like the rabbi went from the Rodney streets in a gog to his home and wished everyone good winter. Right. I don't remember if I saw the rabbi in that ceremony. I don't think so because it was so packed blocks and blocks were closed. I never actually was hard to see special, especially for women, right? I don't remember even trying to get on to Bedford. I remember being like a block away with my friends. Okay, because it was one of those. Yeah, it was a bit of a bitch of the situation. She might go walking a leavit. I was not eager to see. But then ironically, the time I finally pushed myself to be to the front was when I wanted to make a video, which was a few years ago.
So I made a video of the bug like and suddenly I'm a big me because I'm. Wait a second. Sorry for sorry for interrupting you. You're talking about Williamsburg now. Yeah. You went in Williamsburg to make it okay. Yeah. So this means that since I went to the same place, I went to as a child for the bug like this. This is where the younger brother is now. He took over that house. And so he was there. The ritual, which is he comes out and says, you know, I should have a good winter and so on. To my surprise, he said his speech verbatim, the words that we expected to hear. And he left before the followers were dancing. So he wasn't taking in participating in the whole to do to me. It seemed he was almost shy. I'm not saying. Yeah, he comes across. He comes up. No, no, it makes perfect sense. He comes across a lot of times as introvert or somebody that shies away from from crowds and stuff. Almost he's like forced to be there. Like listen, now's the time to give a brooch to the crowd. They're standing away to you. You have to go out and he has like on a little paper or he memorized it.
And yeah, he's into winter and the pochermy is she with a might with a school and Ruzomak is in it. Once he's done, he bounces. Yeah. And usually I. Yeah, I'm saying any other ever that does. If you can see him pop a there's videos today from from all of these bug like this. I think well, most of the bigger Rebs do it. Not only Sutlett. And yeah, and the Rebs stays on the porch and he starts like clapping and dancing and the oil em goes Gaga for it. Yeah, the people open. Yeah, it's interesting. You're saying that he like I was never at his but like I was I was also never like majorly involved in but like I hate pushing and shoving. I hate big crowds where it's like, you know, squeezed together. So I basically I always went up to my grandparents on Rodney and I stayed there. So yeah, I would think the that with the grander ever would stay for a few minutes and then again, if that's his nature, that's his nature. He can't fight. Yeah, did people choose which brother to side with based on the nature of the brothers or the philosophy of the brothers. What was what made people decide?
Yes, a lot of them. There are countless families, the really families that they really didn't like rebounds kind of style and and his personality. So when this happened, they like right away went and being the fact that his younger brother, the son of a life is such more of a mellow person. They gravitated towards him. They were like, he's such a normal person. He doesn't yell. He doesn't. You go into them. They love that. That's what they were looking for. They don't want to go into an end and they have to start asking questions. And if he doesn't like something, he'll criticize you. That's the bottom. That's the way he is. If you don't like that, he's not for you. Just throwing it out there. But so those those people that didn't like that kind of personality, the you know, the stronger personality gravitated towards the example of yes, they had nothing to do with with like holiness or oh, he's more holy. He's more no. I was actually just going to ask you about that. Would you say there's a difference in their religious observance in some way or their teachings?
Really, really doubt that some people will tell you that, but I don't think so. They were brought up in the same house on the one roof, the same father and mother. They have the same. Sometimes I even feel my family like when you look at both sometimes, you know, both Kihilas, if you're going to Ravni Shul, if you're going to Monroe, it's a copy paste. Meaning they have the same minha game, which is the tradition. The same way is in the same. No, they probably. They're the same again is just the way they bring it out is different because again, Ravarn is more of an energetic person. He might bring out his. The way he talks and everything, but no, I think pretty much the same. I feel like I heard a lot of stories from people about Ravarn's wife, such a title, that makes her sound more open. I'll give you an example. I interviewed a woman Sarah Braun from the Netherlands, who was black and didn't grow up Orthodox, but had some Hasidic lineage.
She says, and she went to Ravarn's wedding. And I believe she got a contact to Sasha, Robinson Sasha. And I've heard stories like this about Robinson Sasha, seeming to be more open. And she's not sautmer. She's not sautmer, right? Originally, originally, she's from the vision it's dynasty. So, Robinson Sasha, I think deserves a whole, a whole separate interview or podcast. She's just a different, different thing. She's amazing, amazing, amazing. Anybody that knows her will tell you that. I mean, what she does, I'm a little involved in things that she that she's done. And like I said, my family is pretty close to Ravarn and because we were in Sigit and everything. So, first of all, I remember from her growing up as she would cook a big, big pat of olives, okay? Stuff cabbage. We explain olives, stuff cabbage, okay? If you don't know what olives is, you probably, this is not doing. Okay. So, she would cook a big, huge pat on Simfrastoeia.
And during the Simfrastoeia, you know, all the kids, all the children are, are oiled to the Torah. They, you know, they, they go on for the blessing of the Torah. So, it's a long day, right? So, people make kiddish and they eat. So, we would go upstairs above the Sigit the shul and Robinson Sasha would have delicious, delicious stuff cabbage and other stuff. But the stuff cabbage was like the main thing that everybody remembers. And she would, she would, herself would come over, she had the little kitchen and then the dining room. And she would give everyone an a plate like Ashinda Hat, you know, you had already. You know, how is it? She was so nice. I remember, you know, you could see right away how nice she is. So, that's what I remember growing up. So, let me just tell you a little bit about her. Yes. So, she is the daughter of the visionate's grand rabbi of Benebaraq. His name was Ramoysha Hager. Ramoysha Hager was the visionate's rabbi grand rabbi of Benebaraq. He had a brother, a mutl-hager, a mutl-hager. He was the grand rabbi of visionate's in Muncie.
And he had two visionates of Ebers. And yes, the rabbi's in Sasha is the daughter of the Benebaraq visionate. So, she was really, she grew up in Benebaraq in Israel. And then, yes, so she married Brebadan, the grandmother of my son. And a lot of software people were not happy with it because officially the grand rabbi of visionate's of Benebaraq is a little bit more towards Aguda. And like going to the elections, the Pichiras. He was a little bit more towards that side, which is a software of Pichno. Meaning more prosynist or pro-Israel. Or tiny bit. Tiny bit. But every tiny bit is, she's thinking. Of course, we know that. For Ben, yeah. Yeah. So, some people, some of the close chasidom of the grand rabbi of her moysha were a little bit upset that he did such a kind of a shiddest with. And she, she spoke a little bit of Hebrew. So, some people were upset about that, but it did happen. As a matter of fact, the grand rabbi of visionate's remoysha, Zatal, he has the biggest rabbi's as son-a-loss.
He has the saatma-derebadan, the belsereb of Israel. Okay, his daughter actually is also, I don't know if you heard, she's amazing. She gives proof that people go to her. She's absolutely, yeah, she's like her home. So, the belsere, of course, yeah. Of course. And the skvere, the skvere that happened from, from little square, is why that, not of the past away, but she was also a daughter. And who else? I think there's a video of the three of them dancing at a chasinat to dance. Yes, yes, yes, yes. So, the belsereb it's supposed to be like the holiest of them all. Like, literally even men go into her for, you know, for blessings. She's such a sister. Sister, yeah. See? Yeah, and if Sasha talks about her all the time, she told me and my mother was when we spoke there, like, oh, and my sister, the rarot sentence, bells, is like, she thinks she's amazing. Like, she speaks to her certain things. Yeah. It's like the ordinary people of saatma can only marry saatma, but if you're, the big wigs, you're allowed to marry other group.
I guess. Who did, who did don't want to live married? This wife is a schpitz. A schpitz from Barapark. I don't remember what kind of rubbish, like what kind of royalty, like, royalty she is. Not as big as vision. It's for sure, not. But also, I also, some rubbish kind of family. I just don't remember what the name of that. Okay, it is. But she's, she's a spits. She has a brother, my her spits that I know. Definitely rubbish, but not as big as vision is. Yes. So, talking about the rapist and Sasha. And again, I don't want to go away from the thing, but we're talking about her. I'm sure you know, she does a lot in, in the health community. She helps out people that are going through sicknesses and she has different, she's like a liaison in hospitals, but she's like, she's amazing, amazing, amazing, what she does for people. And she herself is not the healthiest person. She went through already so much. What? We don't know exactly what she had. First of all, by co, I don't know if you remember during COVID, she was very, very bad shape.
At one point, she and one of Robardon's brothers, Robardon's Amalai had a brother of Lippa. There he's in between them sandwich between them. Those two were were actually intubated at a certain point. They were very, very bad shape. And actually, I think Rafa's Amalai called Robardon at a certain point in COVID, asking about his wife. How is, how is your wife doing? And he also said that, by the way, our brother Lippa is in very bad shape. They spoke at that time. I don't know if you heard about it. No. Yes. We spoke. And everybody thought, okay, that this is going to be already, you know, once they spoke, that they're going to continue. But unfortunately, that didn't happen. But yes, so Sasha was very sick. But anyway, they both, they both made it out. And also because she has some, so such big connections in Mount Sinai, they were doing the, what's the, the plastic, what's the thing that they did at that point of certain people? Do you want to call it? Yeah, they're in code. There was one thing that really saved people's lives. I don't know why it's not coming to me. The word that they did that basically saved their, but they did it for her meaning there might have been a list or something, but she was like, she's so close to the back there's over there, then made sure they did everything to save her.
Wow. Yeah, yeah. She's a big big bache said, big ballas chiseled. Yeah. If she has her, her own thing going on from, from her husband, her own thing. There are people that like her and don't like him. I know that for a fact. Would you say that because of her, the Aaron faction is maybe not as extreme as the Zomalife faction. I'm just, I'm not bleeding the witness. I'm just asking you if it's possible. It's possible. Everything is, yeah, it's possible. It's possible that there may more open mind at the different, different sects and different rabies. Because I've seen a couple of things come out of Rapzomalife's faction in Williamsburg and recent years as a tour guide. That have seemed to be quite extreme. I'll give you an example. The kids love to put up carnivals and it seems that it was, I hope I'm remembering it correctly. It was Zomalife's faction. I was told that issued an announcement against it that we don't need our children to be learning how to do a miscut, how to do a business.
The carnivals are inappropriate and unacceptable and something that was so innocent and simple for the kids they went and they, and they can't stop it. Yeah, they stopped. Yes, in a way, in a way, Zomalife's faction is a bit more extreme than, so you remember for sure Benay Oil growing up them on rope, right? Yeah, I remember. Explain what it is. So Benay Oil are a little faction of, Cassidyem of the first Sotman at EBITDA of the oil when he came to America and after he passed away, after he was nifter, he didn't leave over any children. So the closest this closest relative was Red Moisha title mount his brother sung. So it was decided that he's going to be the reba and some very small part of the sockmer people were not were not really okay with that decision. So they made themselves their own their own little sockmer. Kihila called Benay oil, which is the children of you of you oil and they said listen, we're not musk and we're not okay with. But for Moisha is not you being the new reba we're going to be our own our own little sock reflex and they they based it in Monroe because the the reba of your life there for the last few years of his life and that was like very holy for them.
And I think even his old house in Monroe became like the official tool for for that for that sex so they were called Benay oil and they were and that used to be a lot of fights actually in Monroe. I'm sure you remember as a kid growing up so I used to go my parents went to a country in the summer. At this it was very close it was in the town of Monroe but not in this settle here is Joel. It's closed as it was close it was very close right so we would come every day to it would bust me to to hide it to the school in Monroe. So we used to see there was a lot of fights with that little sack. I suppose there were trouble makers I don't know like everything that the Monroe Kehila wanted to do were to get approved they would like come and try to block it there was always stuff going on so getting back to rips on my life and when the fights were going on between the two brothers most of that sack went to rips on my life and they are very extreme they are very extreme like really like and all going back to old age they.
They weird the same hats and they're like they're like not with the times at all so a lot of them of course because they didn't like her about in all these years in Monroe now that there's a different sotma whatever oh we can become like sotma again so they they went to him and they try and they're really incorporating those those extreme things into the summer life's faction yes. Speaking of Benay oil which is the first sotma fight before the 1990s and I grew up with that around me as well yes yes evolved money just of Waldman was very involved with that right very instrumental as you can say yes very instrumental now I discovered recently as a youtuber that he actually has been collecting archival material on a YouTube channel of his own forever he's a real like archival. I have so much admiration just for his instinct to document but he has an especially strong interest it seems on our entitled down who was the local rabbi of curious Joel and he paints our entitled down as a huge bully as a bully as a like he comes off very terrible on on on just on this chance yeah right yeah I don't know that's your question to me about it i'm wondering to which degree that's yeah.
To which degree we're missing the part of our entitled bomb was yet he's a very strong forceful leader but also he could be such a fight or he could be so aggressive bully is almost almost underhandedly intimidating his his enemies I don't know yeah well if you talk to Joseph Waldman Yossel Yossel Waldman he'll he'll definitely tell you that so again you don't know you know what came first the chicken or the egg so yes how it how I explained their balance nature. You know we'll tell you that if someone wanted to fight with him he'll fight back that's his nature he's not the type to sit in the back and and let himself being you know bully around it excuse me big stepped on okay if you step on him. He'll he'll give it to you yeah he's definitely okay let me tell again I don't want to get back to people they're going to listen to it how I see it and how how I've seen him growing up he wasn't he came a long way but he wasn't. A very polished person okay so he could say things that really you know wasn't so nice to be said in public everybody knows that I mean again you can go through the archives and there are many it wasn't a polished person I don't think he meant bad all the time he just didn't think impulsive you know some people like that they just say whatever's on their mind whether it's good whether it's bad boom it's out so a guy like Joseph Waldman I know I know I've known him I know him.
Now a little better because I have family that lives in his neighborhood and the outskirts. Highland Mills he's an instigator he loves this kind of stuff there are people that love to instigate a fight we almost such people he seems to be one of those so he would let's say do something that he knew if he instigated it this will get the blood boiling of Reborn men as people and once you lit that fire now we got something going on now we got police coming and and if you do spuck it so back in the day I'm sure you remember the people are like the teenagers in the Ishiva they would do anything that you asked them to do teenagers they're looking for fun always if you would tell them that hey during the night at 2 a.m. We're gonna meet at this in this house of Yosel Waldman we're gonna slash his tires if you ask it from me I would say no way I'm not doing it but there are always those boys there that we're getting a kick out of it so you had those so when when the boys did that now Yosel Waldman had had stuff to work with he would call the police they would make an investigation they would arrest the boy and then and the killer would come they would take him out there was always stuff going off but he was he was a thick
instigator he would oh yeah plant stuff again might not be true I don't know but he out on it when it was smoke there's fire he was always involved and everything so he knew exactly how to how to press the Ravanna's buttons and yeah they were they were they were stopped going on and he was smart because he recorded everything back in the day wasn't so easy to record like today you just press he thought he told me once you know I had to get the the paper quarter the recording press the button next to the phone he really he worked very hard to have video then he had the first camcorder to record everything and yeah he's yeah very meticulous with these things so you can see on his YouTube channel yeah you appreciate it and he was he liked to be in the line like definitely because if he wouldn't he wouldn't have been you know to some people he's a hero to other people is an insulator I grew up with him being of course an instigator that was our family's version and to me the things he documented is really interesting I
he definitely seems to me from my view to antagonize but at the same time you know the sound can also be highest and when it was 100% if anybody tells you differently they're they're lying to themselves like I compare it very much to the fight in Israel again to different dynamics but of course the Arabs are the Arabs the Palestinians are doing stuff I mean it's crazy the evil and everything but the Israelis are not the holiest people either they're they can be high as well they can do stuff that can rip your thing out you know so again yes the Monroe they did a lot of things that I'm sure a hundred percent they were probably not legal and they were things but we go back to what we spoke before when you're thinking that you're doing God's work when you're doing it La Shem Shamein you know for God then you do you do crazy stuff illegal that you don't think because it's La Shem Shamein the Rebus said that we should go and punish Yosel Waldman I'm gonna tell you one thing that I witnessed every day that the bus picked me up and out of this Bongo Localee drove me to
the school in Monroe on the way we passed one of the Benay oil people his name was Yosel David Hish yes remember that name okay we were past his house and we were told that we should yell out of the window while we pass his house yell out the window Yosel David Hishba we would do it religiously every day like I'm putting out filling I did it with such enthusiasm because he's a against our Rebbe and I was like what I mean he's a he's a shagged or whatever every day until one day he came out of his house and he stopped the bus with his hands like this and we all were shivering in our pants he came up and I remember he was this big guy and he made with his hands like this you boys if one more time I hear you screaming my name I'm gonna beat you when I'm gonna I don't know you threaten those like crazy what do you think we ever did it again no when we passed his out here
bunch of cowards we were under the seat it's very funny I was in Poland and I met a rabbi who worked outside of Monroe and he said he came to Daven at Yosel David Hishba's house that's where he got his prayers because he probably had his own show okay yeah his own show you must have been a more whatever it gave me a whole new dimension to a person that my primary memory associated with him is scrolling on the sidewalk Yosel David Hishba's house I think he comes from a rabish kind of rabish the family so we probably had an as basement is on is on shul it's interesting that an outsider rabbi yeah an outsider find his shul that's interesting yeah so I got sidetracked because I felt it was important to touch on these multiple history right yeah and these personalities that are really complicated it's really really interesting but there's one personality that I really want to touch on and then I want to talk about the passing of the father Moshe Tadobam that one personality touched on him I grew up hearing his name a million times Moshe Gabba what's the story
of Moshe Friedman who is he how did he become the villain of my childhood I heard of him as the worst person possible why no because we were on the power yeah oh okay you're talking once the politics started yes but you should remember you should still remember when the old one rev Moshe when the two brothers father was still alive and like was Sapporo was still like one you don't remember those stars I didn't know about him I only knew about him when he became the villain that's interesting because he was the hero of Sapporo going on until the politics started he was the man Moshe Gabba what are you talking about he was everybody wanted to talk to him everybody wanted to give him his hand he was the biggest like boss sure and the early 90s software was at a very nice healthy place this is Ashley Akinati from the almost famous podcast you ever notice you and your spouse keep saying we need to get away but you never actually plan anything that was us until we
did something fun and spontaneous we went to resort past calm there are hundreds of hotel resorts pools and spots and private beaches that you can enjoy you can spend the day at a luxury resort pool spa massage without booking an overnight stay and listen I may have only been like 15 minutes from home but it felt like it was a whole different world and I'm thinking this is exactly what I needed so just go to resort past calm choose your resort choose your day luxury resort day passes start at just $1,000 once you post your daycation people are going to ask where you are good to resort past calm slash almost famous and use the promo code almost famous to get $20 off when you spend $100 that's code almost famous at resort past calm slash almost famous hi I'm Tasi Hernandez how's the paren I know they'll be impressed and make all the difference I have three young sons and I learned that kids don't just hear I award they feel them too the way we respond in tough

some my is my uncle my mother's brother my mother had three brothers that lived in Monroe that went in the beginning when the when the stator was formed they you know they went to live there and my her became one of the the people that run the one of the leaders right so we would go every year for shabuas and much of Gabba much of freedom was the man he was the man so sakhmer was was like a malchusdake a very royal uh kehilla really at a certain point like I would say in the early 90s they were at the pico the badchmoy she was like he is this nice sireb an older man with the long white beard and they were treating it with such royalty really sakhmer is a royalty their hungarian everything is on pnach like the reba has to have the nicest things and then I like I remember my childhood like the reba had the nicest pieces of silver on his by the tish you know where we come over it was really beautiful up until the point where the fighting started so I'm surprised that you only remember moyshagava as the villain later on so moyshagava let me tell you
about him so he is he's just a very smart man he's not royalty no no it doesn't come from royalty or anything like that no you know i'm not sure the history of how he became the the right and man of the badchmoy she i should know it but i don't but anyway i guess in the beginning years from the badchmoy she you know he he was as as they call it the gapa the right and man and then later on the gapa means the right and man to the rabbi yes yes but in everything like literally the right and man like before you go in you talk to him you give him the names that you want to you know discuss with the with the with the rabbi the grand rabbi and everything and he brings it and it puts it down on the table and you give him a tip he makes the money not you know what i mean you know what he's like he's like he's like the everything to the rabbi yes manesh literally the everything you can't the rabbi can't move without him and the chasey them cannot have the rabbi without him he's literally the rabbi's yeah yeah if you want if you want to have your in with the rabbi you give him and i said everybody knows that you give the gapa the hundred dollars a bit of you can give it
20 you know you're also give money to the rabbi yes sure with the kvittle with the piece of paper that you write down the names and some of your problems that you want the rabbi to see and the bless you you better put something underneath it as well and and besides that you give the gapa the aid money yes yes called gapa gal gapa gal he must have like a beckasha heavy with money yes so moshikawa doesn't doesn't really wear a beckasha whole week he's like a normal guy not a rubbish type family so he wears his normal as the color jacket like a wool pipe objected but it was always a pack with cash yes so he's a very smart very smart guy just uh he has his head on his on his shoulder like really also he was made so you know the yeet the newspaper they're there he that was that was created by the first saatmer abrabbi oil he felt that we should have our own voice sort of here in America so saatmer opened up this this thing that back then one of the leaders in saatmer was
rep centered doich sender daich so he he ran their eat and later on moshikawa was working there and later on he basically went when when rep centered daich passed away moshik freedman took over the leadership of their eat and up until today's day him and his children a lot of other people they have a lot of employees but he basically runs that newspaper their eat which i'm sure is pretty profitable for him which is also why he ended up with so much power because he controlled the media and access to the rabbi that's also a big part that we should talk about exactly and that's why rabbi are in saatts felt that then they need to have their own voice because they were trashing gold at the rebounds things what happened let's say they would write their side of the story in their eat when it came out let's say after yomtov oh a bunch of hooligans youngsters came in and ripped out the the rapisting him rits of them and but they were writing all these bad things and rebounds i didn't have where to answer back so they made their own their own cassivist
newspaper called their plot yeah which was also which was of course i'd say gassard it was banned it was banned from some of life side to be sold in stories of when he's burned it's sold now everywhere i see it everywhere and nowadays again but back then you had stores that didn't take it in because they were told like like the mafia you won't take into this newspaper if you want to have our hat shirt i don't take it wherever so they didn't wow so what motivated like can you explain to me a little better what motivated Moshe title bound and and Moshe Gabba to was he the orchestrator behind the entire split again it's the pens will you ask but look looking from a normal lens and knowing the power that he had he was definitely involved whether it was his brainstorm or it was really the red but he had to actually do it that can be debated but he was definitely involved in it yes he probably wanted the best what's good for sartmur i'm sure he had the best for sartmur
and heart and he didn't feel it listen if this guy's not going to be we're not going to be on one page we're going to fight every day how is it going to look so i can understand that perspective that hat we need some kind of a reber that's going to stay in line and do what the tequila wants and stuff like that some people thought that sartmur was huge at that point he took him tens of thousands of families they did they didn't think that it's good to be under one person's leadership it was good to split it up one one one half should be in Monroe the other half should be in Wilnie's bird some people thought that it's a good idea so again it it depends who you ask I always say maybe maybe it was it was good to split up but the way it was done that's that's were always bothered me yeah it had to be that bloody and that that ugly who made it so ugly definitely the people the the the followers the followers from from each right for followers they didn't live well with them you know that this guy was brought in now you throwing out our guy and and they would just start at the fight take hold of a holy war basically what happened when when the bichemoi ship passed
away when the father passed away this is actually like natty from the almost famous podcast you ever notice you and your spouse keep saying we need to get away but you never actually plan anything that was us until we did something fun and spontaneous we went to resort past calm there are hundreds of hotel resorts pools and spots and private beaches that you can enjoy you can spend the day at a luxury resort pool spa massage without booking an overnight stay and listen I may have only been like 15 minutes from home but it felt like it was a whole different world and I'm thinking this is exactly what I needed so just go to resort past calm choose your resort choose your day luxury resort day passes start at just $25 once you post your daycation people are going to ask where you are good of resort past calm slash almost famous and use the promo code almost famous to get $20 off when you spend $100 that's code almost famous at resort past calm slash almost famous

okay so at that point it was pretty much established already i mean how how long can you fight i mean how long can you hold on to a thing so it died in 2006 right he then done six so that was already quite a few years that the fight was going on and rabados people made peace already with in their minds that they're not gonna get this Rodney Shula when his bird and they have to build their own so they started building their own buildings basically they build their own shul it was the fastest build shul and history they say in two weeks they erected a building on can't have a new i think it was yeah it's okay isn't it we've heard yeah that's we've heard right so uper and ken they bought an empty lot and they made it a very interesting way they took a contractor that can build something in two weeks just give me some you know some beans and some walls and we're moving in they wanted to be there i think for simple stoyer for the for the hack office two weeks they got it done and they had their their own their own shul then they bought across the street so basically uper became their base rabados it so once they did that it was like
sort of given up that they're ever gonna enter Rodney and you you couldn't find a person dead person from rabados or a faction dead in Rodney that became like a church to them like a very unholy place to go in yeah so once that happened it started the split was like really really starting to set it okay you have two factions officially and even though we're moisture the father was still alive but he was so older that point he didn't come in every shop is to shul he was really old he was closer to 90 so rebs almo light really took over the again he was appointed there of and oh they made a new yashiva as well it used to be the big yashiva the msifka was a monro after a certain age everyone went to monro everyone went to monro so like i had to go through monro even though i think it had opened at that point the new one they made in queens the wilny'sburg faction made a new msifto in queens but i had to go in monro no
meadowap i said i as a kid i used to look at those bigger teenagers that went to monro and used to come down from partitio bro that walk up and down like next to the cemetery with a chalapal and the vandal yeah you remember hey the chalap with the with the scarf could be zero degrees outside the most you would do is put on a shot yeah otherwise the thinnest code the chalap that's it with the scarf so i had to go i had to to witness that so there was no way i was going to go to queens it's an epic place epic place it's like something you have to go through as a sophomore boy you had monro monro that was it and i thought i had a great time over there i have great memories ray would roll oh my god yeah it brings back memories of my brothers yeah so do you remember the funeral you remember my brothers some of them makes it do you remember the the funerals
yes or a mysha yeah yeah so i was actually married already when we when he passed away and again it was already by that point it was really the split was was done but everyone came to the to the funeral to the lovaya even even revaron they had to let him in obviously it's the shoul in front of the spot of staying so both of them spoke i remember a vandal like really cry that he cries our out when the lovaya because again he took it really personal you should know revaron has a very strong minded person but he's sensitive until today's day just a side note i know like some of my family members that they wanted him already to make peace with his brother he is still so hurt when what was done to him and his family what i told you there he was not let into his father and they did a let his father come to some of the the simple consideration and what was done to him he couldn't get himself to to make peace even as a rabbi a grand rabbi you think he's a tsadrik and he would look away no personally he just could have made peace with it but maybe but maybe now i guess maybe
trump fixed that we'll find out after the pod find out exactly so what was i saying before that you were talking about the funeral he was crying you're only as crying like a baby i remember it like today he was like literally he couldn't get a word out of his mouth he felt personally her which i can understand i mean again you know his little brother got the shoul on and did a lot into the air so he cried and it was pack pack pack then robney um but there wasn't there wasn't actually it was like i i think it went pretty smoothly as i remembered yeah there was a pushing and shoving and things but it went pretty smoothly i didn't go out tomorrow to the actual burial so maybe there was some fights it might have been because the monor people have their own their own set of the rules when it comes to that it's so funny every year on the anniversary the york side of the first sakmarabi rebel oil which comes out in in off yeah kavo of every year till 10 this past summer i saw videos there are still little boys that the little teenagers from
among them that run after epsilon lives entourage and they yeah and they don't let it's hard to go by and they yell at my shagaba like seriously kiddos it's 2026 you know what i mean but again this this is where it comes in the lashen shaman they're so in their mind they're like what do you mean they hurt our reber we have to like protest against them this is where the mindset comes in a little gha a little bit is misha gaba still very active yes yes absolutely she still runs the the institution he became the gaba of ramsamalai yeah he runs the institution definitely so now for instance now for instance when going to trump he would be the one going he was there sure oh okay you didn't see the pictures he's on the or you don't know who he is i was once at at williamsburg bakery and the guy behind the register said someone stood next to me and seemed to greet me i wasn't sure or maybe didn't i might be making it up but i can see him greeting yeah he's a very
friendly guy very he's very charismatic very even people that hate him he could literally come over to you by a wedding in mazlpa mazlpa wow that's funny his guy do you hate him i don't remember my dad my father was like very he's a big khus of the rebar and and he was hurt through the whole thing so like he wouldn't go over to him at a wedding he's like this is misha gaba what he did you know but misha gaba would come over to him he's an uncle right my father's day with the strimal and everything he would come to the cousin say azlta mazlta nahakhi not answered this prayer he might just feel like a piece of you know i'm telling you i was shocked because the guy behind the register said you know who that was that was misha gaba i was shocked he didn't seem scary he didn't see oh not at all he's the most friendliest person he's the most nicest guy that's what i always say i can't believe that he's that evil that he wanted to do bad for about like i said he probably wanted what's best for sartner as a whole and listen
i guess some people didn't agree with him so things have to be done but he's not he's not a bad person at all i know personally people that he helped he's a crazy bojessa then and i got about his son leap of freedom again we can do a separate podcast on him he you know he became very wealthy you know the grace of god and what people that he helps through his father if like if his father calls up the son leap of freedom and we need to help this and this guy leap of freedom doesn't think twice there's no such a thing but that's also by the way that's as you know test said in sartner is number one right you know yeah yeah here you almost every organization that if my always sound like this little proud sartner guy in me but it's true it's true almost every organization opened up in Williamsburg in sartner big of phylum shumram much later on rccs actually my family or what else whatever you can think of i'm saying all the organizations the phesa things the big phylum that that take the packages to the
the hospitals yeah the kids are so so yes all these the moshir gaba is a really good guy he helps people so it's the perspective of how you look at it very interesting well we've gone over our time by plenty this is something to feel we can talk about all day but i really really tried to keep this accessible like to not go to in the weeds because this is so close to home i can talk to you about it all day but it's going to start to be inaccessible to people who don't know our little work exactly we can talk off camera we can still keep it there's there's much to talk about but i i really really appreciate everything my pleasure my pleasure it was really a pleasure and can you talk a little bit about your work uh what you do sure so i'm a professional vocalist singer i mostly perform at weddings which is the like the bread and butter of singers what they do is singing it you know Jewish facetic weddings um but i'm very diversified my career took
a different turn i grew up to see it is and i went to see the jichin everything and i started singing at family symphils and then friends but i got picked up by one of the most popular bands in the very beginning of my career they were called mageena orkastro and they saw me at a simcha or something and the owner basically told me that listen you you're a young guy you have of you know they have a great voice we're looking for singers to use on our jobs if they sign me for three-year contract they had the most jobs at that point but most of their jobs are modern modern orthodox or litfish so they used to send me to five thousand tinegg lung ilan all over the place the modern job so automatically my clientele started to build in the modern orthodox community but i had both i went to a modern wedding and whatever back in the day you had to put on a necktie well you went to modern wedding it was not like today that they have chisiddish singers no no no no 20 years ago if you wanted to perform at a modern wedding they wouldn't they would never
want to see this singer you know that's very interesting that people don't know back in the day you couldn't wear your chisiddish hat like shlimate daskal one of my colleagues one of the fellow singers i know he would come to yes so he's a little older than me they would ask him can you take off your hat they didn't like the chisiddish look he actually had a policy no this is the way i look if you want me you've got to have me with my hat with my long jacket so some people decided not to have them at their wedding i remember getting some of those jobs they would tell the guy from magina well we don't want we don't want the singer to say like oh like we chisiddish singers say oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah shabas you know it didn't like that they want the litfish of our uh and could could he wear a necktie so i didn't mind it i said no problem i'm a self on necktie and i had to learn how to how to tie it that they're not and i did later on much later you're talking maybe 10 years ago the modern crowd started liking like the more younger why you crowd
chibi university which are that was my base over my clientele all of a sudden they said you know we like that guy that buried Weber and shlimate daskal daskal we like that we like the chisiddish so all of a sudden i was not good enough for them this is actually like natty from the almost famous podcast you ever notice you and your spouse keep saying we need to get away but you never actually plan anything that was us until we did something fun and spontaneous we went to resort past calm there are hundreds of hotel resorts pools and spots and private beaches that you can enjoy you can spend the day at a luxury resort pool spa massage without booking an overnight stay and listen i may have only been like 15 minutes from home but it felt like it was a whole different world and i'm thinking this is exactly what i needed so just go to resort past calm choose your resort choose your day luxury resort day passes start at just $25 once you post your daycation

piece McNuggets fries and a medium coke all for just $9 limited time only promotion pricing may be lower than meal pricing is I did them a favor and I quote on my tie and now all of a sudden I'm too modern for them so so anyway more and more singers started you know coming into the market but that's basically what my how I got into the the singing business wow this is a very interesting to bid because I have watched Haseedem go from being very looked down to suddenly oh it's sexy to have at the wedding a couple of crazy to singers I saw it happen with my own eyes and I was like how did this happen if you look at my videos on youtube you'll see me at the most magnificent weddings with the big orchestra with Aaron title bomb and these were in the most modern places concrete clubs I would I was probably already not that I'm bragging I'm just giving you a fact they would send me to the most modern most beautiful country clubs deep into Long Island
crest hollow country club directly I mean and then in the city the Plaza Hotel the Waldorf I mean you're talking high-end venues okay that I would do a few times a year you would never see a facades guided they didn't want it they didn't want when choirs you remember when choir started becoming popular Mazzamrame she required and then you know other choir you did them so Aaron title bomb would like recommended the clients like we have this I see the choir and there was it and I remember the client like the wife the misses would say she would like okay I hear you it would be a nice thing to choir but I don't know you want to repeat it she would say like I don't want them to like sit around in the lobby I don't want like my client my friends and family to see them like when the job started they could come in because they didn't know they didn't like like you said they were looked down at and slowly slowly but surely Haseedem became the more in thing go figure I cannot stand it I cannot stand this because it's all so superficial when Haseedem
or Aaron see them are out in the end make up your mind do you like to see my dog you like and now they wouldn't you see when my client tells me I love these I'm not making fun which they started telling me I love these because see this is all like alala alala alala yeah sing it sing it would repeat repeat it and have a look at it and like what what went into you and then they would call me for a shabbos because I don't I don't know for the omit as well I'm about filler they would call me and nowadays they request that I bring along my strangle they want my strangle I was gonna ask why it's not interesting I was gonna ask you do you also change Avara for a pond request like access yes so you can do both accents modern I can do both I happen to yeah I'm very good with accents I could actually imitate people so I'm very good with that I could change like this who can you imitate really accent yeah I can imitate lots of people no I want to I love imitations can you imitate it's funny it comes to imitating I become shy my friends I'm you should go and go that line you should do it but I'm shy but in front of you take a little bit it's
interesting I can I cannot do his voice is a very interesting voice but I could I could totally I could totally like copy the way he talks like look what I did today with these two arabis I brought them together like nobody ever did before you know but I can't do his voice I'm very into voice like so if I imitate someone it's exactly the way he talks and for some reason I try I've tried I try to practice his voice is it very like either it's raspy or deep I mean I understand voice I study voice I still do I don't know what's going on with his voice like I can't can't imitate it yeah sometimes he talks like in a lower like yes like my daughter Ivanka like he talks like that like he's tired and he has one voice and then when he talks like that he has more of a deeper thing and I don't know how he does it like so it's it's hard it's hard yeah I love that makes with his head like that and totally obliterated we don't leave obliterated or ran totally they don't have no maybe no shapes no nothing you can have a career with a strimal doing the
trump you imagine with the chasidisha yeah with the chasidisha but I have been impersonated like yossi green well the biggest composers like when he sings like that I don't if you ever listened to I don't know yes a green who else from mom seriously no yossi green the most famous composer in Jewish history no no I'm sure you know him of course that probably yossi actually grew up sartmur in Wilming's bird again we can have a separate interview about yossi green and later on he became more modern he married someone from Paris and he lives in seagate these days and but he still goes with the strimal I think in chavis but he composed monog like the most the biggest songs that you grow up on grew up on you were in monro maybe I don't know if you were you ever were you allowed to listen to oven free not really but I'd listen officially okay he composed most of oven free back in the day time here
that's him he made adera abe adera abe tain de libe no chaniracola toad malas taver I'll come back one day to sing but that's him right abe moisha it's like I'm talking about the big pieces that starts out with kazanis and then it goes on but he made most of oven free's hit song like kazak kazak and this that's him that whole that whole album is yossi green okay yeah but he yossi green had his thing he had whether it's a michigan sir not he like doing like the backup vocals for the singer so he is actually on the song you can hear him second time around he comes hasak kazak and this kazai and he yells in his his like his little pieces over there but baa khazak bera rara like everybody knows this like it's funny that's then you remember daddy the singer daddy so daddy also made his albums with the osi green he came from his real didn't have
anybody here didn't know anybody somebody told him about yossi green and he stole the osi listen yossi you produce my albums and yossi said i'm not a producer i'm just a composer he said i don't know just make me the whole thing you know is daddy was a funny guy and never he passed away it was sick so daddy had all his songs from from yossi green okay okay i'm getting completely side track yeah i'm that i'm supposed to be an interview i'm just like a real it was my fault i'm supposed to keep you on topic but this is this was a lot of fun well hopefully here you sing some other time but thank you so very much for sharing pleasure to be here so you have instagram at yummie loy why you m i l o w perfect he come with a strimo without a strimo however people like or ever people want i whatever as long as it's not without anything but as long as i'm wearing some kind of suit jacket becky cha i'm there great awesome thank you so much
yomi it was my pleasure all the best all the best bye good night this is actually like an eddie from the almost famous podcast you ever notice you and your spouse keep saying we need to get away but you never actually plan anything that was us until we did something fun and spontaneous we went to resort past calm there are hundreds of hotel resorts pools and spots and private beaches that you can enjoy you can spend the day at a luxury resort pool spa massage without booking an overnight stay and listen i may have only been like 15 minutes from home but it felt like it was a whole different world and i'm thinking this is exactly what i needed so just go to resort past calm choose your resort choose your day luxury resort day passes start at just one e five dollars once you post your daycation people are going to ask where you are good to resort past calm slash almost famous and use the promo code almost famous to get twenty dollars off when you spend a hundred dollars that's code almost famous at resort past calm slash almost famous enjoy big savings with red hot
