President Trump says Iran is ready to negotiate a ceasefire, but he's not ready to make a deal. Trump said that's because the terms aren't good enough yet. In a weekend interview with NBC News, the president also said he's working with other countries on a plan to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

1:00The U.S. and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran two weeks ago. Energy Secretary Chris Wright says there's a good chance gas prices will fall below $3 a gallon by summer. Wright made the prediction on NBC's Meet the Press and added that Iran's threat will be reduced. But at the end, we will have removed the greatest risk to global energy supplies. We'll go to a world more abundant in energy, more affordable in energy and less risky for American soldiers and commerce in the Middle East. AAA reports the current price for a gallon of regular gas in the United States is around $3.70 on average. That's up about $0.25 from last week. California is paying the highest average at the pump at $5.50 a gallon, while Kansas is the lowest at $3.13. Senate Republicans are expected to bring the Save America Act to the floor for a vote next week. President Trump is ramping up pressure on Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who says there aren't enough votes to beat the 60 vote threshold needed to pass the voter ID measure.

2:04Democrats are vowing to block the measure. In 1996, Democrat and now Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer talked about the importance of ID to prevent welfare fraud by illegal immigrants. In the Southwest, millions are bracing for an extreme heat wave. The National Weather Service says the Los Angeles area will be hit with an extremely rare long duration heat wave starting Monday with temperatures up 35 degrees above normal lasting possibly through Friday. The heat wave could break daily high temperature records across the region. The extreme heat will hit Arizona later in the week with the possibility of Phoenix seeing triple digits. I'm Rob Artier. A report in the New York Post states that the Obama Foundation is looking for 100 unpaid volunteers to work at the soon to be open presidential center in Chicago. The pitch they're making to prospective volunteers is that it's rooted in President Obama's legacy of civic engagement. The Post cited Fox News digital reporting that the organization's CEO, former top Obama aid Valerie Jarrett, was paid $740,000 in 2024.

3:09Foundation officials told Fox News digital the volunteers will complement about 300 full and part time employees at the long delayed center. The over budget $850 million Obama presidential center opens in June. The State Department has cut the fee Americans pay to renounce their US citizenship. Jim Forbes has more. After a new rule that went into effect on Friday, the fee was lowered by nearly 80% bringing the cost down from over $2,300 to $450. The State Department said in the rule that it lowered the fee as a policy decision to reduce the cost burden on people seeking a certificate of loss of nationality. The Department estimates nearly 5,000 people apply each year for the certificate to renounce their citizenship. I'm Jim Forbes.
