An explosion near the U.S. Embassy in Norway is being investigated as an act of terrorism. It happened early yesterday with minor damage reported at the entrance of the Embassy's consular section in Oslo. There were no injuries. The blast comes as a number of American embassies and consulates around the world have been targeted for attack following the start of the U.S. and Israeli military operations in Iran. There are long security checkpoint lines at some of the nation's airports as people begin getting away for spring break. NBC Stephanie Gossk reports that yesterday passengers at Houston's hobby airport were advised to arrive up to five hours before their flight. The Department of Homeland Security blaming some delays on the partial government shutdown. Saying TSA agents are now set to face their first full missed paycheck, which could lead to crippling staffing shortages. In Atlanta and New Orleans yesterday, travelers were advised to arrive at least three hours early. It all comes amid what's expected to be a record-breaking spring break travel season with 171 million people expected to fly.
Six people were killed after the U.S. conducted a strike on an alleged drug boat in the Eastern Pacific yesterday. U.S. Southern Command announced the strike on social media with an 11-second video clip showing a boat explosion. The attack comes as part of a continuing campaign targeting people suspected of smuggling drugs by sea. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared a state of emergency in three counties as a result of tornadoes that hit the area of Friday. At least four people were killed and the deadliest tornado outbreak the state has seen in decades. Meantime in Oklahoma, an EF-2 tornado killed a mother and daughter while another twister left two others dead. I'm Chris Caragio. Coming up in the business week ahead, we'll get the latest data on existing home sales tomorrow. The National Federation of Independent Business Optimism Indexes do the same day. The Consumer Price Index comes out Wednesday. It's one of the Fed's key inflation gauges and could factor into the Central Bank's interest rate decision later this month. Thursday brings weekly jobless claims with a look at personal income and spending and a GDP revision wraps things up on Friday.
