Welcome to Black Man Can't Jump On Patreon Patreon City Yeah, I mean, I'm trying to think what are the standout things from this? Like I know I don't normally do quotes at the beginning but oh I could do, I could just do like a just for all time say Blah blah blah Just for all time say Because they're so really there's a really feel No, there's just there's a really prominent shooting I say but yeah but And say One really one really One really important I don't remember like exact lines but there is something there is something along the line of like Like you grew you grew tomato Yes, that yeah, there is a line like that. Yeah, there certainly is

and Then what is a little girl say like there are people in the water? There are people well yeah in the rain the rain people in the rain. There's someone in the rain There's someone in the rain that sounds like a line from the movie. I don't know if that is but I bet Uh Let me try to think one more this will be the last house All right, that doesn't even why Well, I'm not gonna go on all day I'm not gonna go on all day trying to guess lines from the movie, okay? So I just could have tried one more this will be the last house Okay, all right great good yeah good. Hopefully nothing will actually follow that. Hopefully we'll stop right there What the heck It's a quote a house is what I'm Well, I'm trying to build I'm trying to build this podcast brick joke by joke

Guys What are you what are we what are you listening to us now? I'm just kidding And here's the thing it's because a lot of people saw this movie You know what I mean that's true that's true listen We are a film review podcast we review the films of leading black actors and talk about them the context of race and Diversity and Hollywood we also sometimes review Movies with leading actors of color, okay? Maybe they're not black, but perhaps they're Asian perhaps they're Latino Things like that in this movie we got both Okay, but the other thing is both you know, this is patreon. Okay, and so we've decided We're gonna do whatever movie okay whatever movie we want and if you guys Don't like that let us know but I think you do I think you do I think you want to hear some of our opinions on movies That don't necessarily have a black lead because on the free podcast we're still doing the black leads and on the patreon

We're doing everything. Okay bring it on everything Alright films we're doing Avengers doons day. We're doing doon par three. Okay, I'm just guessing Oh, no, they don't come up. Yeah, no both those come out on the same day and it's around Christmas Right so that they're coming out on the same day. Yeah, it's doing how did that baby? Doons day. I mean that's maybe that is a great name, but also why would they ever why did they because I think I think what happened was Barbinheimer did so well that people have stopped caring about pitting Two giant blockbusters against each other on the same day like it used to be if another Highly anticipated like if another highly anticipated movie was coming out It would never come out on the same chair I just feel like those barbie and Oppenheimer the reason it worked because And I understand this is a little retoxionist. Okay, and a lot of people including us right saw both

But it was a little bit like one for the fellas and one for the gas Yes, here's a little bit of here's a little bit of comedy. Here's a little bit of drama, right? It's like there's so movies So drastically different. They're so different like even if it's not down to what you to that It's they are so different that they can do well, you know correct But you but you expect them to learn a the right lesson You expect them to learn to me any Doon part three and doomsday are that's the same bucket. We're in literally the same bucket We're in sci-fi we're in freaking, you know, massive blockbuster trilogy You know, not trilogy for Avengers. It's fourth one, but You know what a lot of people saying I I see a net shit. It's also the It's the fifth of interest movie It's not the four you're right. It's the fifth one right because I just forgot age of Ultron exists

And it's like and it's really like they're doing like this is yet another third beat Something that they ended like I Using the word phase right because they've no they still do it. This is a pretend Now they're pretending whatever you know phase what yeah Six six five five or six, but the yeah, I have all kinds of thoughts about that. We don't have to okay But wait that's that that's for a later date. That's for a later date Okay, because there are only two of us here right now usually there's three of us but Jira It's out making money okay, he's out making money. He's making them dollars And now you might be saying don't aren't isn't that what you guys are doing sure I guess we're making money for Jira and he's making We're making money for Jira and Jira's making money for Jira and that is what this is Why we're doing Wait a minute We want to make sure we put money in that man's pockets. That's what we do

Okay, we we we we help each other out and the person the voice you're listening to now that Honestly, I don't know if I would ever give up trying to break out of the house Oh really you would never give up trying to break out of the out of that clearly Loct like never like I just I just couldn't believe it. I just would feel like there's there's just no way There's just no way and you and you would have been correct. You would have been correct They did figure it out years later. There was a way to get out Years later they figured it out you would have been right Um, all right. Well, uh, that's the my name is Jonathan Braylock is what I'm trying to say okay Yeah, and this voice who would have died just whenever the period of time Whatever the period of time we ran out of food you ran out of food or you know you haven't had enough Clean water or whatever whatever that period of time that a person can live that's probably around when I would have expired That voices James at that now

Just so you know, we're gonna get into initial thoughts and and cut it off for you free listeners But yeah, right before that right before that I just am curious James You said you would have died then would you have a let yourself die of dehydration and or starvation or would you be like This is over. Let me try to find a way to Yeah Take my own life. Oh, would I have taken my own life Because I just feel like dehydration is a good question a hard way to die But maybe it's not I like I don't know obviously. I just feel like I guess it would depend I guess yeah, that that is actually a great question I guess it would depend on Whatever either one of those things was doing to me mentally right? Like I don't think I would have a I would have a problem with not being able to leave I guess maybe I'm not thinking about what it would mean To not think that I can leave at any moment. Yeah, but I don't think that that would have bothered me as much

as Like yeah, like whatever point I start getting delirious from no food or delirious from no right from no water Then maybe yeah, maybe I would take matters in my own hand The last house all right right before we do initial thoughts. Let's just talk about this. This is a Netflix film Okay came out um several weeks ago It's been it's been doing amazing According to Netflix is You know minutes watch which I don't I don't really understand the the system but Netflix releases like they're like hey here's our most watch top 10 movies and it's been In the top five for like the entire month of august that came out august 7 it stars Greta Lee And go Wagner mora Right who who we know from who we know stuff right We do we do know but he's in the secret the most most

Most famously or most recently the secret agent Which did pretty well I got nominated for a few and did he wind up getting nominated or He gets snubbed Let's think he got the awards Awards He has a lot of award nominations but they're all things so I don't Go international yeah, he was nominated for the best actor in the golden globe But he didn't wind up getting that Academy Award nomination Anyway, I think a lot of people know him from Narcos Probably ah, okay. He was also in civil war Yeah, he's been around. He's a Brazilian actor And then Greta Lee obviously you know Greta Lee right But most he got the Academy Award nomination this year. Wait, he did get it on he did get one for this year Yeah, it looks like it Academy Award. Oh, he was nominated. Okay. He was nominated for the sequenation Yeah, I couldn't find it. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I couldn't find what it was for I know there was like a couple of people who were on the fringe. Okay, he did get nominated great

So you know, they got two actors who've been in prestigious films and And then they decided to do the last house Yeah Yeah, they what the order was they were like they put them on hold for something They got those actors first they're like what do we What do we want y'all to do? Okay, so the last house Uh, do you want to take a guess at the rod tomato? I mean I'm gonna go with not shocked. I'm gonna go with Oh, this is okay. I don't know how rude I should be in what I guess I'm gonna guess 50s Oh, you're you're aiming high. It's 22% damn That is lower than I would have said that's what that would have said and Maybe lower than I then maybe lower than I think 27% popcorn meter, which is that's That's right. Whoa Yeah, you don't want it to be that lower the audience as well

You understand the audience Same that's the same You know, I do think that the premise of the film is so strong that people and maybe the marketing that people saw it so it's Family of four suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out They must work together to survive against both their dwindling dwindling resources and the mysterious looming threat that is keeping them trapped Yes Yes Yeah, so shall we you want to get into initial thought?
