Well, you know, I'm so delighted for Buffalo Saber's fans because it's been forever. And you know, they've just, and it's an unusual town. They've had great heartbreak. Not just hockey, Stanley Cup finals, what was it? 75 and then in 99. But in football, I don't know how many bills fans are sitting in the studio right now, but we all know about the four losses and all kinds of things that happen to them. So Buffalo fans are, I think, very deserving of this run. And what a comeback. That was a hell of a comeback by Buffalo. They've got some spying to them. I'm really enjoying what they're doing this year. Yeah, for sure. Oilers with a massive, massive victory in a four point game, beating Vegas by a score of

3:12four to two, just your overall thoughts. And you know, almost a must win situation, really. Yeah, and then, you know, there's, I think we've got, you know, tough times in Denver and Dallas on the way. They got to win that St. Louis game. And the road trip and man, it'd be good. Even if you got an overtime loss in those two in Denver and Dallas, you'd be looking for it. But you needed that win because you've got to stay with the pack, right? And they are, you know, nobody's running away with it. It's a turtle race of the Pacific. I think the oilers are on pace for 90 points after last night's win, which is just terrible. But they're a team that can get going. And what I liked about that game was everybody was working. I felt like the coach was maybe a little bit slow to recognize what that that fourth line was doing. I think Doc had like two minutes in the first period. And, you know, I'm, I'm just a light of the Frederick as I, I told everybody, I, you know, 11 years ago, I told everybody Luchich would be golden in Edmonton and he was not. And then I

4:14said, man, you're going to love Trent Frederick. And everybody's like, what do you know about, stop talking about Bruins. But Fredrick's turning around now a couple of goals since the Olympics is playing better. And it's good to see because he is exactly the kind of player that Edmont's and no other fans traditionally love. Yeah. Big body likes to, you know, if he can bring a little more physical element, man, you know, he could be beloved in this town for a long time. And it's coming though. You, you can see it. You can see the layers starting to peel off of his game. And he's starting to feel comfortable, gain that confidence back. So it's really good to notice. I mean, Todd, you mentioned that the Pacific is a, a snail's pace of a race. I mean, Edmonton is sitting 17 out of 32 in the league with 71 points. And from 17 on to 32, six teams from the Pacific. So a lot of guys getting nowhere fast in this division. It was just, I want to talk about the game defensively though, because egg on my face, I said on Twitter yesterday, the over under 4.5

5:16goals against for the opposition against the Oilers. And for them to roll out a game like this, not only was it a tight game, they did most of the things right in terms of getting in front playing a little more. Well, we use the term rugged, right? A little more physical. And to allow what they allowed and only two goals hats off to the defensive effort yesterday. And that's something that was as much as you talk about the win that was desperately needed. A defensive game was desperately needed as well. Well, I don't blame you like one bit for predicting a high scoring game. This team, you know, it's, it's really difficult for any team to turn on a dime. And yet the Oilers of this era seem to be able to do it. They, they, they're like, Oh, God, we, you know, we played so stinky, we got to play better. And then they do. And I, they've done it many times. And this year, they haven't had the winning streak. And maybe it's about to come. But I was so impressed with how quickly that, that miserable effort that we saw in the last game was turned around.

6:18You know, they're, they're finding their way. I think Walnut is hurt. And I mean, we've got a fact of that. And that quote didn't take the state yesterday. We don't know how banged up these guys were. And there was a little bit of luck, you know, in that game forever. But you need that. And I thought Connor Ingram was good. But, but overall, I, I just feel like there's a little better structure. Maybe Paul coffees, you know, having more an impact. We'll see because, you know, Vegas is a tough team, but the Oilers traditionally play them well. Colorado and Dallas will be a really, I wouldn't put that tweet away too, too long. You might be using that in the next week or so, sir. Maybe. Yeah. It might be more than four and a half, too tight. Well, because there's, like, there's, there's a couple of freaky freaks on that Colorado team. And the card McKinnon, and they're not the only ones, but they are the lead dogs. And, and I always, I mean, I always have a backup plan for a Colorado game on the road for the Oilers. I you know, some work I can do and I can have the game on or whatever. But, you know, sometimes

7:22there's a, there shouldn't be a mercy rule like they're having at the World Baseball Classic, where you, you know, you lose too many and you don't have to play the eighth and ninth inning. Alan Mitchell with us on sports 1440. You mentioned Connor Ingram a little bit. Would you think of his play? I mean, he let that real stinker in and luckily he was called back on an offside. But would you think of his game over all time? I thought it was good. I think that, that, you know, he's, I, for me, he's the more trustworthy goalie right now. That doesn't mean that Christian Jari isn't, you know, going to turn it around. Jari is like a lot of bulldozers. He's a little bit streaky. But I think Ingram has the calm feet and he played well. He did, as you said, that, you know, let him that one poor effort. But early on in that game, he made a big stop, and it seemed to, you know, set the tone a little bit that the goal-tending wasn't going to cost him three or four and against Vegas. You know, there, Vegas is, I don't know, people don't talk about it anymore, but they're the filthiest team. And they also, they, they shoot from everywhere.

8:23It irritates the hell out of me because they're, you know, it's that damn stone. He didn't play, but they're shooting from behind the net and from Laredo and they're shooting from the gondola. And, and so if you're a goal-tender, I'm sure it's a little bit nerve-wracking to play Vegas Golden Knights, because they're always looking to put the puck of the net from any angle. Yeah. How about the play of Paul Coleson? He pots one on Friday, pots another yesterday, and it's not all about the goals for him. I mean, career high 15 currently and counting, but the intangibles that he brings to the game, hey, fellas? Well, he's, first of all, he hits like he's a, he's a cement truck when he hits. And they, what does he need that? And I got that other kid doc too, and he's going to help there. But, and then he's skilled. Did you see him just pull away from those, you know, NHL defensemen? He was flying down the ice. I was like, oh man, and like he's like, this is a guy who is, he is not a small man. And he is chugging down the ice. And I mean, I'm, I'm, you know, trying to figure out how I can, you know, call him Frank Mahal,

9:27which not quite, but, you know, what the hell of a hell of a brush by him ends up going in the net. And, and, you know, the honest need of that. Damn, man, I mean, it wasn't big David and it wasn't dry subtle. It was, you know, pod Coleson and Frederick with the, the early goals. And I, I just felt like, you know, part of this is trust. And I think that, that, you know, Christian oblocks a heart marker. He didn't let Matt Savoy off the, off the mat for a long time. And Savoy's earned his playing time. And I think he's good now. But I think they could have gone to him a little earlier, earlier, and they didn't do it. But pod Coleson have, right from the time he got here, he's forced the issue. I'm so impressed with him. That was a hell of a trade by Stan Vomit. And the connects are having a, you know, I mean, the worst year ever. And nobody's going to notice that they created pod Coleson for a load of A. But that guy's a player, man. Well, that's his 15th goal of the season last night. And that's a career high. He surpassed his previous high that was in his rookie season in Vancouver. As you mentioned, Tyden, that was 14. So,

10:32and that's in the 21-22 season. So he's also got 14 assists. He needs three more to set a new career high in that as well. So, I mean, this guy, and, and, and again, he can play with Leon, and he can play on the third line in this case. And he has the ability to sort of be injected wherever, wherever he is injected, he plays hard and plays well. Yeah. He's like having an NHL Kevin Kerrius out there. Well, hey, I'm not second team all decade or whatever it is with Eddie. I'll use for it all. The thing about pod Coleson too, that I personally love about him is, and you hear it consistently, and you see it with video footage. He's the first out there on the ice working on his craft. Every practice, every opportunity he gets. He's one of the hardest working players. So, when you see it all come to fruition and pay off, you can't help but feel good and cheer for a guy like that. Yeah. And, and, you know, sometimes in life, you know, he had a

11:35disappointment in Vancouver, and, and, you know, sometimes when you're, you're staring, you know, a career crossroads in the face. It, you know, reminds you how much you love the game and how much you want it. And, and that work ethic goes a long way. And I like, I can't, like he's a young guy making of, you know, his up value contract. And he hits and it hurts. And, and the owners of, they've imported a lot of guys who could do a lot of things, but they were older and they were over 30. This guy even has room to grow as he's showing this year offensively. Most notably Dickinson and Murphy tied. Dickinson is a smart player. There was a play late in the game and it was still a one-goal

13:42game, I believe. Dickinson is behind the Vegas net and he's not in a hurry to move it. Oftentimes, we'll see orders forwards who are in that situation. They make maybe a risky pass in the middle and gets turned over and now you're caught 200 feet from your own net. Dickinson didn't do that. He already feels like a little bit of a coach on the ice. He's very smart and I love that about him. I love Murphy because he's so physical. He's kind of a jerk and I love that. You want us to need that guy and he's a big guy. I saw a lot of criticism of Doc after the first game but I thought he was brilliant on the goal. You need to be physical in front of the net. You're distracting at the fender and get the point. The other side of it is he can keep up. I read that he was slow. I don't see that. I don't know what they're going to do with Doc. They can send him out. He's got options or whatever. But I like him. So I like all three players. They were, you know, you sort of were hoping for maybe a bigger name or something like that. But

14:46with Savoy playing the way he is and fun coals it as well. Maybe they didn't need a big a big winger or a more offensive winger up there. And then Dickinson, he gives the coach all kinds of options because he's a real center and he's got good speed and he's smart as a whip and the orders. You know, if you're going to play center in the NHL, you got to be a really bright guy and Dickinson is. 15:47believe me if I told you that Darnell nurse and Connor Murphy led the game with time on ice. Nurse with 2314 in a strong defensive effort. Darnell nurse led the game time on ice, guys. I think that has a lot to do with just the fact that Ekholm wasn't up the snuff and quite possibly couldn't absolutely could have missed the game. It could have, but the reality is just busing it down. It wasn't a lot more goals against. That's maybe if the tide is turning. Well, nurse had a people together. It was very tough on defense and goal tending in this town, but there's had a really good year last year. He and everybody else struggled in the final. But this year it's been more of a challenge for him. I think partly because there's been different partners over there. They have a woman can't stay healthy long enough for them to try out what they thought would be their second pairing. But the thing about nurse is he and I think it's underrated and I think they're going to be at a crossroads here just because of

16:50CAP in the next while. But for me, the thing that nurse does is that he is a great skater and he can recover quickly. When he's asked to do it, he plays major minutes for this team. I remember when the one is traded for Duncan Keith and they decided that they'd run Bouchard and Keith is the second pairing and they sort of protected the second and third pairing. Nurse and CC played major minutes against the top opposition like really big. They were like the the top one and a half pairings in terms of who were their face who they were facing. So I think he's underrated in the fact that he can play so long and so much. The problem is people are are constantly aware of, you know, mistakes and stuff that goes on off sticks and skates and that sort of thing. And when he plays a lot like any other defense, but it's more difficult to handle those minutes. But I think nurse is a very important part of this team. I always have the only problem I think the orders are going to have is in terms of CAP and that's

17:51something to be visited in the off season. I got an article up at the athletic today about, you know, what's going to happen here in the summertime with this team. They've got some good young players. They've got to sign them and keep them. They can't have another Brobert Holloway. And it's going to be interesting to see how they exit some of these no movement clauses. And guys who are turning 33, 34, they may not be able to move those guys. They might have to use some younger, move some younger guys. Hey, Tidey, you've been watching any of the world baseball classic Canada lost a Panama for three. They needed that win and that's going to cost them probably to make a playout spot here. It is. And I thought the that throw by out of Lopez was just a real, just a road. I loved it. And then Japan is lights out at the Americans are obviously really, really good. I'm watching it and I'm sure like hell, but I mean, I just just looking at the rosters, you know, Canada is out man here in a lot of these games. Yeah. And I don't know if you heard, but Donnie Peece coming into our the Edmonton rotisserie league tie. Did you did you know that? I did not know that. He's going to get just eaten alive. Well, he comes in and wins. No, you know, no. I know. From what I can tell, the only the only, you know, tough screw in that whole league is carriers. Everybody else is real friendly like it. You know, everybody goes, Oh, would you like my shortstop? Please have my shortstop. And then carriers comes in there and, you know, he just wraps up everything. That's
