About this episode
On this episode of Almost 107, Will Bruce sits down for an interview with a fellow Fanshawe student Lobke D’Haens, who is a long way from home to complete her educational journey. Lobke like many other international students are feeling the effects of new policy changes and the general attitude around the idea of international students.
In early 2025 Fanshawe announced funding cuts in reaction to the international student cost caps implemented by the government. This has lessened international enrollment and cut funding to study abroad programs. Using his own time abroad to relate, Will and Lobke talk about the importance of international studies and the unique perspectives and experiences they provide.
