Welcome to another edition of the Green Mountain Getaway, the music podcast from the Heart of Vermont. It's Americana and more, both vintage and new, and this is new music from, well, fun trader is the stage name he's really Andrew Pelleteer, and phones with cords. There's no home in the motherland, there's no home in the fatherland, there's no home in the promised land, there's still land, too. This fire on the mountains, this fire in the parking lot, this fire on the ocean, is filling up the news.

Got to grab the kid back, you ain't got to grab the dog back, you ain't got to grab the wife, it's a back you ain't back you wishin' land. Happy New Year, there's nothing but sorrow, I didn't really come home tomorrow. I'll go there's no home in the fatherland, there's no home in the fatherland, there's no home in the promised land, there's still land, too. Well, the sun's a black and fireball, the sun looks like a cannonball, the sun's a black and fireball, the smoke, I didn't write.

Happy New Year, Thru until it couldn't see the drug, until it couldn't see the drug, until it couldn't see the black sky anymore, all is fire on the mountains, there's fire in the parking lot, this fire on the ocean, is filling up the news. Happy New Year, A couple of artists with interesting stage names to launch this 137th edition of the Green

Mountain Getaway. That was a new tune by the project called Fur Trader and Phones with Cords. Fur Trader, actually the project of a player by the name of Andrew Pelletier and Phones with Cords, Tennessee-based Arthur Alligwood. Got that? The song calls No Home, Fur Trader, and Phones with Cords. It seems to be a lot of luck going around with artists more frequently than in the old days, taking interesting stage names, that's certainly the case there. Chad Atkins, Yakidy Axe, instrumentally here as we launch this 137th edition of the Music Podcast, brought to you by the stations of the Radio Vermont Group. The roots of this musical presentation steeped in a desire a need to sort of set the news

aside from time to time. You know, it's a good idea to stay connected with the news with the idea behind Getaway from its first days. Well, it's just an opportunity to set the news aside for your mental health, and if music is one of the medicines for you, this hopefully will work for you. It's Americana and more, and all its subsets, bluegrass, folk, country music, roots rock, and such. Both vintage and new. So welcome along. Thanks for checking us out. Conrad Fisher is coming up next. Take the weather off your shoulder, step right up, man, come on in, it's so good to

see you. It's been forever, I need not fare with a friend, because I've been going crazy, he's been all up here lately. You can't keep a good man down, get a hard road running, and a long time will come in, but all I'm feeling there. How's the kid's been, how's your mom, I haven't seen her getting groceries in a while, do you still work at the factory, are you and your wife still happy, man it's good to see your smile, because I've been going crazy, it's been all up here lately, but you can't keep a good man down, get a hard road running, and a long time will come in, but all I'm

feeling there, man, I've been going crazy, it's been all up here lately, but you can't keep a good man down, get a hard road running, and a long time will come in, but all I'm feeling there, man, I've been going crazy, it's been all up here lately, but you can't keep a good man down, get a hard road running, and a long time will come in, but all I'm feeling there, man, I've been going crazy, it's been all up here lately, but all I'm

We can't see, I ask you please pull over In a field of clover with you Pretty as a picture in a magazine Every plume, every shade of green Let the rain do the thing it wants to do I'm in a field of clover with you Pretty as a picture in a magazine

Every plume, every shade of green Let the rain do the thing it wants to do I'm in a field of clover with you We don't even notice We'll wait it out of what else can we do I would stay forever if you want me to In a field of clover with you Pretty as a picture in a magazine Every plume, every shade of green Let the rain do the thing it wants to do I'm in a field of clover with you I would stay forever if you want me to In a field of clover with you

I made myself a list, I checked it twice Because I've never been kind to roll the dice I took a next return on my fur affair To avoid all risk and down, I'm still getting better Calcutty made it all turn like the hoop Through every preparation of the way I should Just when I start to feel like I'm on the road How can it be in one glance I've lost control Rivers and rains and long the way trains The bushing and racing of hurricanes The forces of nature that nothing restrains Rivers and rains and long the way trains

I'm solid as a rock to set my ways Until I call the hymns of your greeners From through the numbers in my head says no Statistics they shatter in my heart says no Rivers and rains and long the way trains The bushing and racing of hurricanes The forces of nature that nothing restrains Rivers and rains and long the way trains Rivers and rains and long the way trains My steady feet stumble, the hymns they rumble The earth should belong around I try to speak humble, my senses they rumble

The second you came around Like rivers and rains and long the way trains The bushing and racing of hurricanes The forces of nature that nothing restrains Rivers and rains and long the way trains Rivers and rains and long the way trains Rivers and rains and long the way trains

Rivers And rain and long the way trains Rivers And rain and long the way trains Rivers and rains and long the way trains . . . . . .

. . Go a little on, go a little on, but you got it long. I'm sitting in a park in Paris, France, reading the news and it sure looks bad. They won't give me a chance. There was just a dream some of us had. Still all lines to see, but I wouldn't want to stay here. It's too old and cold and settled in its ways here. All the California, California coming home. I'm going to see the folks I dig. I'll leave and kiss the sunset peak. California coming home.

I met a redneck on a gray chanel. Who did the goat dance very well? He gave me back my smile. But he kept my camera still. Hold the rogue, the red, red, rogue. He cooked good omelettes and stews and I might have stayed on with him. But my heart cried out for you. California, California coming home. Oh, make me feel good rock and roll band. I'm your biggest band, California coming home. Oh, it gets so windy when you're walking. And the streets are full of strangers. All the news hour, you read. Just give you the blues.

Just give it the blues. So I bought me a ticket. I caught a plane to Spain. Went to a party down a red dirt road. There were lots of pretty people there. Read and roll and stone, read and vote. I said, I'm gang around. I said a week, maybe two. Just until my skin turns brown and I'm going home. California, California coming home. Will you take me as I am? Strong out on another man. California coming home. Oh, it gets so windy when you're walking.

And the streets are full of strangers. All the news hour, you read. More for the world and I'm bloody treated. Oh, will you take me as I am? Will you take me as I am? Will you take me as I am? Will you take me as I am? Classic Tony Mitchell, California. And she followed a new name in the Getaway Labyrinth The Lost Dogs in their song called Go Anywhere You Want. Well, you're some new music from Montplayer Region Hour and Assembly of Dust in earlier days. Read the frontman for a band called Strange Folk. This one's called Conspired a Smile, Region Hour and Assembly of Dusts on the Getaway.

I like one's faces. Hot while waiting. You grew through me. So I could paint. Carved out my drought so I couldn't dream. So I could dream. So I could dream. And I like bright colors. Quarks of faith. Survived from self. Written of time. I'll save your mark and you'll save mine. And you'll save mine.

You'll save mine. I'll keep you safe. You'll keep me wild. And you'll come smile. And you'll come smile. And you'll come smile. Conspired a smile. Smile. To smile. Smile. To smile.

Long fields of adventure. You're way to the sea. What a simple gift it is just to be. Sometimes execution gets away from me. It gets away from me. Get some worry from me. And when I keep you safe. And you'll keep me wild. And you'll come smile. And you'll come smile.

And you'll come smile. And you'll come smile. There you go. Keep me safe and I'll keep you wild. Conspired. Keep me safe and I'll keep you wild. I'll smile. Keep me safe and I'll keep you wild. Conspired. Keep me safe and I'll keep you wild. Conspired. Conspired. Conspired. Smile. Smile. To smile. To smile. And the shores were known.

And the shores were good all right. And the shores were good and right. And the north pole. And the shores were good and right. And the north pole knew all leads. And the night was bright and north pole knew all leads. And the night was bright and north pole knew all leads. And the night was right and not bold, no more leads And the night was right and not bold, no more leads

I, I, I keep you safe And you, hmm, hmm, keep me wide And we'll come and smile, we'll come and smile Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Smile, smile And we'll come and smile, we'll come and smile

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Smile, smile And we'll come and smile, we'll come and smile Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh No one may be wishing on a world Then they'll never be, I'll keep on wishing No matter how hopeless or foolish

Amazing, I'll keep on wishing Toss my coins in the fountain I look full of buzz and grass and lungs Seach for shooting sounds in the night Cross my fingers and breathe in more No one may be dreaming of a world Far from present reality, I'll keep on dreaming No matter how unrealistic or naive

Been lazy, always dreaming Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Toss your coins in the fountain Look full of buzz and grass and lungs Seach for shooting sounds in the night Cross your fingers and breathe in more We must always be the game of the world As a place of infinite probabilities Always good days

No man, how hopeless or foolish Amazing, always good days Toss your coins in the fountain Look full of buzz and grass and lungs Seach for shooting sounds in the night Cross my fingers and breathe in more I'll keep on wishing

Bound with a wild and restless friend that pulls me from within And we can ride away, we can play it all day And we can fly away Whisper's of the North, soon I will return again To those endless afternoons in sunshine and in rain Whisper's of my love and days and weeks on end I will share my thoughts or in prayers that I will send And we can ride away, we can play it all day And we can fly away Whisper's of the North, the river and the shore

And I land that tested as covers, 10,000 years before Whisper's of my heart in the tracks of animals I believe my footprint's there to fly beneath the snow And we can ride away, we can play it all day And we can fly away Whisper's of the wind, I will feel it's deep I will see a rising fall, I will hear it sing The sound is like a song to me, it takes away the pain The river is the melody and the sky is the refrain And we can ride away, we can play it all day And we can fly away

And we can ride away, we can play it all day And we can fly away Whisper's of the North, soon I will go forth Whisper's of the North, soon I will go forth Gordon Lightfoot, Whisper's of the North Encore Encore, here is Tony Rice

My dear is darling I miss you more than words can tell I hope the garden's going down It's all in rain, good spirits and good health We've traveled far now With a long way to go still I know not yet when I'll return or if I ever will Each day grows colder Filled with powder, smoking steel I worry for it so I've forgotten how to feel Picture In the pocket of my coat I sometimes find it I'm alone It's my last bit of hug I miss the grips of these troubled times Way back to you I always find

You're the winner Whisper's through the pounds Blooming the roads Green on the fine Until we meet again My last sincerely sign I'm ever yours You're ever a man Some of these boys I'm a tutor that I own They fight like men and men Get cut down before they're grown This is my prayer That I daughter in our sons Wrath their arms around each other And never around the gun It's the grips of these troubled times Way back to you I always find

You're the winner Whisper's through the pounds Blooming the roads Green on the fine Until we meet again My last sincerely sign I'm ever yours You're ever a man You're ever a man You're ever a man You're ever a man You should hear It's come my time Way back to you I always find I'll be the wind, the whispers through the pines

Pitching the blind star in the shine We're made again on the other side I'm ever new, you're ever blind I'll be the wind, the whispers through the pines I'll be the wind, the whispers through the pines I'll be the wind, the whispers through the pines If you really boyake in the mirror of a bad dream And for a fraction of a second, you can't remember where you are Just open your window and follow your memory upstream

To the metal in the mountain where we counted every fall and star I believe a light that shines on you will shine on you forever And though I can't guarantee there's nothing scary hiding under your bed I'm gonna stand guard like a postcard of a golden retriever And never leave until I leave you with a sweet dream in your bed I'm gonna watch you shine, gonna watch you grow Gonna pay the sign so you'll always know As long as one and one is two

There could never be a father of this God or more than I love you Trust your intuition, it's just like going fishing You cast your line and hope you get it a bite But you don't need to waste your time Worryin' about the marketplace, try to help the human race Struggling to survive, it's harshest night I'm gonna watch you shine, gonna watch you grow Gonna pay the sign so you'll always know As long as one and one is two

There could never be a father of this God or more than I love you I'm gonna watch you shine, gonna watch you grow Gonna pay the sign so you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father of this God or more than I love you

Father and daughter, Jim from Paul Simon on the getaway And country music's Luke Holmes coming out with some new music He's joined by Allison Krauss on that song called Evermind, a brand new one from those folks The Green Mountain getaway found at www.redio.com Hope you'll subscribe, tell your friends it all Introducing you perhaps to a Vermont player by the name of John Spice I took the road down by the river today You can see the fish rising when you go that way And on the horizon was the sun and day It's not too surprising, I decided to stay Hey, I'm a going fishing, I'm a playing hook It always had the entrance as my dad at first took me Me and this world we get a step out of time

So I'm a going fishing to get a little piece of mine You see, I keep my waders and my pole in the back And some fires that were tied by my hold on my jack From the hair of a bear that was hanging in the shack I threw out my line and I took up a slack Hey, I'm a going fishing, I'm a playing hook It always had the entrance as my dad at first took me Me and this world we get a step out of time So I'm a going fishing to get a little piece of mine Well that big brown trout, he took it straight to the bottom A couple times I think I almost caught him But then he swam right toward me, it was a move I taught him

On another sun and day late last autumn Hey, I'm a going fishing, I'm a playing hook It always had the entrance as my dad at first took me Me and this world we get a step out of time So I'm a going fishing to get a little piece of mine When he gets away you know I try a little harder Every time I catch him he gets a little smarter But I guess I'm no killer and I guess he's no martyr Still I wonder how he tastes with a little bit of tartar Hey, I'm a going fishing, I'm a playing hook It always had the entrance as my dad at first took me

Me and this world we get a step out of time So I'm a going fishing to get a little piece of mine For bonds, John Smith on the Green Mountain get away No matter of fact, trout season is just a couple of weeks away I believe here in the Green Mountain state You could fish your rod but trout season coming up The second Saturday of April I believe This here is John Fogarty on the getaway

Mama come look quick there's a light up in the sky I see the sign and she, and it's a calling you ain't done And if you listen, clothe the reasons all come clear There's nothing left to be Well, there's nothing left to be Leaving all of this pain behind Gonna stay away Breaking all of these chains on wine Gonna stay away Mama, come quick

Do I see an open door The passageway is lit And it's time to get on board What wonders we will see What beauty to my eyes Come along with me Across the rainbow sky Across the rainbow sky Leaving all of this pain behind Gonna stay away Leaving all of these chains on wine Gonna stay away Breaking all of this trouble Mine gonna walk away Leaving all of this pain behind

Gonna stay away Mama, come quick There's light up in the sky I see the silence here And it's calling you and I

I see the silence here I see the silence here I see the silence here I used to be a candle in the wind Now you're a big shot in the dark You used to think that love was the answer Now it's just another big question mark You used to believe in the power of music And all that revolutionary stuff Back when money was the root of all evil Back before you suddenly grew up I used to laugh at the men on the chest

For all those little ponds Want to be cute You used to say I refused to play that game Now you think winning is everything You used to feel like a baby in the woods And out of your little gunny sack You used to be a cry in the wilderness Now you just another mom would check And write the first time You used to love swimming upstream Now you like to go in a flow Take a ride on the big water slide

And never mind the rocks And the world goes down below You used to be a candle in the wind Now you're a big shot in the dark You used to think that love was the answer Now it's just another big question mark You used to believe in the power of music And all that revolutionary stuff Back when money was the root of all evil Now you just can't seem to get in trouble

Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide Get a ride on the big water slide

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The sign of the midnight I used to do until the sun came up

Every sign of the bitter poison of the never-ending cup And I always say I never take someone in the band Well, I guess things turned out different than I planned Oh yeah, I guess things turned out different than I planned Well, I left my happy home to see what I could find out

I left my broken friends with the aim to clear my mind out When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there Many stories told me how long I've been waiting to get there I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out I so much left to know when I'm on the road to find out I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there

I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out I so much left to know when I'm on the road to find out

When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out When I hit the roundy road, there were many kinds I liked there I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out When nothing seems to suit you, but nevertheless you know me You're locked towards the future I saw one and I'm gonna go a second to keep the time out I so much left to know when I'm on the road to find out And I found my head one day when I wasn't even trying
