The eternally original you

0:00We're so glad you're joining us for today's Christian Science Daily Lift, with Lisa Rennie Saitsma. Lisa's a Christian science practitioner and teacher from Hopkinson, Massachusetts. She's sharing her lift, the eternally original you. Sometimes a new year can surface thoughts of past mistakes, regrets, things said that should not have been or things not said that should have been. But God's creation exists on a much grander scale than hands advancing on a clock. In fact, His creation is infinite, timeless, existing in what some thinkers have called the eternal now. In this eternal now, each of us exists and has always existed in our true spiritual

1:03identity, holy and forever good. But can anyone say that they always see their true perfection in their present experience? Most of us, looking at ourselves through a material and therefore mistaken lens, definitely see room for improvement. This desire seems to intensify in the first quarter of the year. Publishers tend to release self-help books at this time, while gyms and diet promotions are everywhere. Yet, the best thing to bring about whatever changes we seem to need is the spiritual improvement that enables us to see our true timeless selfhood, to see ourselves as God made and maintains us. And science does not define progress in terms of a material body or a bank account, but as a growing demonstration of spiritual power.

2:03In science and health with key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddie put it this way, every day makes it demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfill. Mrs. Eddie's assurance that we can fulfill God's law of progress is so comforting, though we may not always immediately see how to fulfill it. But willingness to change our thoughts and actions to bring them into accord with the law of God as voiced by the healing Christ will open our eyes to a new view of our true selfhood. As this new year rolls along, you can rejoice in God's view of you, the true timeless view, the original spiritual eternal you.
