1:26Because we have your number. We're going to look at breakout players on the offensive defense sides of the ball. Running back tank pigs, he's the first player I want to get into today. I look at tank and the summer that he had, but also the glimpses that he was able to showcase last season. He brings a lot of energy. There's the desperation and urgency when he touches the ball. He has an unorthodox running style, but he fights for every yard. He doesn't go down quietly. He makes defenders work to bring him down.

2:30I think when you have a player like that who adds a different wrinkle to the offense, I think he's a really good compliment to what they already have in Safequan Barclay. I would imagine that if you're the Eagles, you want to find a way to give him more carries. That's certainly not going to be at the expense of Safequan Barclay. Big spes a little bit of a different player. I don't know that you can get him the football consistently as a receiver. That's not really his game, but you put him in the backfield and you watch him work. You don't quite know what's going to happen. I still don't know entirely how he's going to transition to this wide zone concepts and things like that. We'll have to wait and see. I look at the player himself. He can hit the home run. He can shake tacklers and do some different things. Safequan Barclay is obviously going to be the bell cow. He's had an outstanding training camp. He looks to be in peak form, peak performance. I think you're going to see the offense continue to revolve around him and the running

3:31game in general. But because Safequan has had quite a lot of miles accrued over the past couple of years in Philadelphia, I also think that the opportunities should be here. To support my prediction of tank pigs, we have been sort of a breakout season. And breakout is all relative. Anything that Trump's what he was able to do last season constitutes as a breakout campaign. Really, anything that he does that exceeds what he did in Jacksonville would constitute as a breakout season. And I just see him as taking on a little bit more of a role here. As far as the past catching nuance, we'll have to wait and see how that goes because that's not necessarily his forte. But he's someone that I think can do a lot of different things and really be an ideal compliment to Barclay and serve as that one to punch. Certainly not the expensive Barclay. You're not going to take Barclay off the field to give tank bigsby touches.

4:33But I just think that there has to be more of a flow and a rhythm to the way that the Eagles incorporate bigsby because last year there were games where he would have six carries or seven carries. Then the next week you'd have two or maybe zero. There just needs to be a little bit more of a synchronization and the offense in general. But also how you work your running backs into the mix. And I would also add Will Shipley to that. I'm not putting him on my list as a breakout player. But I think he also provides something a little bit different that can help the offense really take things to the next level, especially as a pass catcher. The next player on the offensive side is going to be right guard Tyler Steen. And Tyler Steen for whatever reason has sort of been cast aside. I think the season that he had last year was really downplayed because he wasn't MacKai Bechton who the Eagles of course had at right guard when they won a Super Bowl. I don't think that that's fair to Tyler Steen. I also don't think that it's accurate.

5:33He had a nice season. He had a nice training camp this year. I think he's someone who has shown to grow and develop with the more opportunities that he's gotten. I think his skill set is really going to translate favorably to this new system under offensive line coach Chris Cooper for offensive coordinator Sean Manion athletic player who moves well laterally. He plays with a mean streak. I think that was evidenced by a dust up in training camp that he had with defensive tackle Ty Robinson. He is playing with more confidence and that is something that he conveyed when he spoke to us at different points this summer. But going back to last year, I think because you look at the way the offensive line struggled and a lot of that most of it, if not all of it, was due to injuries. The fact that they weren't performing to the standard that they set for themselves, it was so easy and I would say lazy to point the finger at the new guy in Tyler Steen.

6:38And I go back to pro football focus. I don't really look at those metrics. I don't put a lot of stock into it maybe as much as some. But it seems like that's something that's often touted when there is a stat or sort of a metric that supports a stance one way or another. But for whatever, you know, it's worth, Tyler Steen was rated and graded as one of the better guards in football last season, which somehow is sort of thrown away or become an afterthought. But I thought that he performed well. The tape supported it. The people that I talked to supported it. There's a reason why the Eagles went back to the well in 2026 and kept them there as a starter and there are other players there. Other young players there that never really, I mean, they're depth pieces. They never challenged them. And I think another big see, I think this time he's ready to take his game to another

7:40level and it should be a little bit more pronounced. But make no mistake about it. Tyler Steen's a good football player and I would make the argument that he may be, and this is my opinion, the most underrated player on the team period because he's a starter. A star-sided offensive line. He's still not yet a household name so he gets lost in the mix a little bit. But someone that I have seen takes steps forward in the right direction and improve the more reps that he's gotten. I wanted to shed some light on what he brings. The next player is going to be Don Tavian Wix. Don Tavian Wix is someone that goes into this season as a bit of an enigma mystery. Someone who's never had more than 39 catches in a season. But a lot rides on how he is able to respond in a much more pivotal role in an offense.

11:53He was a spare part for a lack of a better term in Green Bay. In Philadelphia, I look at the role that he's going to undertake and he is their big-bodied receiver. Is he of the same profile as an AJ Brown in terms of physicality? No, not even close. They're different players. But he is someone that I've seen use his frame to his advantage. Good body control. He can shield defensive backs with sort of the way that he's able to attack the football and traffic. Good route runner, exceptional at separating at the top of routes. Rumor of a short to intermediate receiver, but one that I think is really going to serve as a safety valve for J-1 Hertz, especially when pressure mounts, because he's such a detailed route runner and he seems to always hit his landmarks. That's going to naturally instill a lot of trust. And throughout the summer, that budding chemistry between Don Tavian Wix and J-1 Hertz was very apparent. It helps that he was one of the starters that didn't miss any time in practice and was

12:56able to establish that rapport. Look, is it a projection? Yeah, of course, it's a projection because he's never been asked to take on as big a role as he's going to be in Philadelphia. But all I can tell you is what I see, what I hear, what I know, and what I have seen with my own eyes and making my own thought process here is because I think that he can play. And I've thought that he can play. I've always been a little bit curious to see what he can do with a more expanded role. He's going to get that here. But I think this offense, in particular, if it operates as intended, should be able to accentuate what he does well. You're spreading the football around. You're not necessarily putting the onus on one particular player to win every single week. And so I look at, I take all of those things into consideration. I look at his skill set and what it could add to this passing attack. And I think it's very intriguing.

13:57This is going to be a breakout season. Anything more than what he was able to do in Green Bay is going to be a breakout season. So it might be a little bit of low-hanging fruit there. But I just thought he had a really nice training camp. I would say that he was the most consistent, wide receiver in camp. And so that's the direction that I'm leaning there on the defensive side. We're going with cornerback Rieke Wohen, who at 6'4", a really good athleticism in range, is probably going to approach this season as an opportunity to use it as a springboard into a more prosperous, free agent, a trip to the free agency. Make more money and things like that. I just think he's a player that is going to be targeted a lot. He's playing in a very talented secondary with Cooper Dijin, Quinya Mitchell, of course. He's going to be targeted and have opportunities to make plays on the football. He's made plays on the football. He's also given up some plays in training camp. He's a bigger-bodied corner.

14:58Sometimes that fluidity and ability to stop start isn't natural. As natural as it would be for a more compactly built player at that position. But I think that is a clear upgrade over what they had last season in Adori Jackson. And you guys know how I feel about Adori Jackson as a person. One of my favorites to talk to, a really insightful, you learn a lot from talking to him. And I think he performed a little bit better on the field than he's given credit for. Sometimes revisionist history is a funny thing. But I mean, Rick Wollins, head and shoulders above Adori Jackson in terms of just ability and what he's going to provide. So I think you have to feel really good about that. But it's also the glimpses that we saw in training camp. He was the star in the summer and the spring. But in the summer he had a quiet camp and it really wasn't until you get to the joint practices where you're watching how he matches up with the likes of a Romeo dobs or an AJ Brown. And he gave up some plays to those guys.

15:59But it's about how he responds. And there are other plays where he was able to read the eyes of a Drake May and jump a pass and out route to AJ Brown, stopping a touchdown, taking it the other way and battle in the end zone against the bigger body guy like Romeo dobs and come up with a pass break up. And you see the swagger that he has. And I think he's going to add another dimension to this defense. And I think he will be a breakout player for those reasons. Hey, Filly fans. I'm going with second year safety drew McCuba. I looked at McCuba's number from last year. He played in 11 games, started 10, had some rocky showings early in his career. I think that is natural for a young player taking on a pretty prominent role in a defense that demands so much of that safety position, especially when it comes to communication and all the responsibilities. Naturally, you're probably not going to be very confident or sure of yourself.

18:06It helps when you're playing alongside a real blanket ship, of course, but this summer and really dating back to the end of last season before he suffered that season ending injury. A player that was really making strides and steps in the right direction, becoming more confident, closing quickly and just letting his natural ability take over and training camp. This year, he's going to be, it's not lost on him first and foremost, the role that he's stepping into. There's no longer the buffer there and read blanket ship. You are the guy now and he has taken that and owned it. I've noticed from him as, yeah, there may not have been the big splash plays in camp, but it didn't seem, and I don't know this because I'm not in meetings, so I'm not privy to that, but it didn't appear that he was at a position very often. You seem to be assignment-sound, the communication piece between him and Marcus Aps or him and Cooper DeGene, whomever was out there, I thought was where it needed to be and what you want to see if you're a defensive coordinator or defensive backs coach in the case of

19:10Joe Casper. I'm basing it off of, they didn't play him in the preseason. Jihad Campbell was the only starter who played and that was just in the first game. Naturally, my interpretation of that is that the Eagles are pleased with what they saw. It looked to me like McCuba had a good camp and I think because of that and you look at the skill set, he is a ball-hawk. He does have the range. He does allow you to be multiple as a coordinator and I think this year, now that he's more comfortable, you're going to see him be able to make some more plays on the football. He did have two interceptions last season despite him getting off to a shakeier start. The other player I'm going to go with for a breakout will be Jihad Campbell. Jihad Campbell, I thought he did some good things. Last season as a rookie, he was sort of benched for lack of a better way of phrasing it because the Kobe Dean came back. He faded to the background and I don't think that that was through any fault of his own.

20:14The Kobe is just a trustworthy player. There's not any guesswork there. Vic Fangio had a lot of confidence in trusting him and he was going to be able to execute his assignments and there really wasn't much of a role for Jihad Campbell because the Eagles don't rotate their off-ball linebackers. They tried to find ways to sewhorn him into the defense whether that was rushing the quarterback, special teams, whatever it was. But I think now that he's able to reclaim this role and one thing to keep an eye on is the mental aspect of the game where the Kobe checked off every box imaginable. He's a cerebral player. His ability to read and diagnose just inherently added something different to the second level and not every player is like that. Zach Bond is like that. But for Jihad Campbell, we won't really know that until he gets more reps until he's able to see things and anticipate and do some things that as a savvy veteran like Bond and Dean were able to do, it might take a little bit of time.

21:17But if you listen to what Vic Fangio had to say, they played him in that first game. There are some things that he didn't do correctly. They needed to clean up. There may be some hiccups early. And you have someone that athletic with that kind of length and range who can do some exceptional things in coverage. You work through that and the only way to really work through that is by putting him out there and letting him work, get those reps and opportunities and take those coaching points. I am curious to see how he fairs in terms of run defense. How are the Eagles in general going to be attacking at the edges and how will he be able to defeat blocks of regularity and things like that, especially with the shoulder issues that he's had the past two spring? Is that something that's going to creep up a little bit? But in terms of just the willingness to participate and run support, I think he plays a physical brand of football. We talk about the coverage acumen, which as a modern era NFL off-linebacker, you have

22:19to be able to do or you're not going to be in every down player. I'm really intrigued with what he can provide and I thought he did some good things last year. Has another year under his belt. He has another year of working with linebackers coach Bobby King, a year of working with Nicobie Dean and learning and seeing things through the lens of how he sees the position. And then you just have the natural evolution of a young player that I think is also going to play into this a little bit. I think you'll see Campbell come up with some turnovers this year. I think you'll see him be able to tap into his past rush prowess as a blitzer and do some creative things and add another wrinkle to this defense that I believe is going to be no worse than top three in the NFL this season provided everyone stays healthy.
