00Hello and welcome to the debrief for Celtics trip to ibrox the two each draw on sunday i'm your host Christopher Gala coming to you from at a very bright and sunny canvas slang it's it's actually quite a lovely day so hopefully that will continue throughout the week um i'm delighted to say we're joined as always by our very good friend Will Glavin hello Will have a user very well very well the weather is looking good are we coming out of this dark and dreary winter hopefully hopefully so hopefully yes so um yeah glad to be here mate looking forward to getting into the game from sunday which was

00a really interesting one wasn't absolutely uh yes what's to talk about um what's to break down we have a question sent in from Matt that's quite good to maybe um bring that in as well just just give me your overall thoughts what what's happening this is just what's going on chaos ball chaos that's what it feels like um yeah like i think like many of us watching the game on sunday pretty much watching it behind the sofa at points in the first half like there was one team really dominating the game and it was rangers at that point um as we just spoke about off further like i was like conflicted by what's the setting half because i just didn't see it getting any better but to much of my surprise um it completely flipped on its head and the way we finished that game the way we sort of played that second half in the best Celtic finished the game like if we can see that in all the games going forward and i will feel a lot more positive about it is trying to bring this league title back to Celtic Park so um i thought it's just one of those things

06like i thought we finished the game really strongly and i'm like really i could take a lot of positives from that but there's an element of me that saying i don't remember there's been anywhere near consistent in any game this season yeah every single game does just that inconsistent save-off is we don't do it for the full 90 minutes we do it in stages we do it in phases um so yeah it's it's just i think it makes it it makes it for the usual really interesting because i don't know nobody really knows where the league title is going to end up i don't think rangers are all as good as what they've been making out to be honest i think the second half proved that and i think that sorry i think that the result is a much worse result for rangers than us yeah i think it's a really good result from from our point of view because we're still in the hunt and we're still there so yes i think it's going to be chaos when we get to this split to be completely honest with you right yeah we'll play against each other do you know i was thinking about this this morning um and i don't think there's no direct um correlation and there's no i'm not

07in any way comparing this right but remember nancy's last game which was at Celtic Park versus rangers and we blew them away in the first half um and i don't think rangers were as good in the first half as we were as good as in that first half on their own say but there's kind of similarities in that we blew them away in the first half and we capitulated in the second half is there a kind of similar kind of narrative to that um i do think that playing at home i think the home team tends to kick about the traps a bit more quicker and and then i think the noise of vibrates i think some of the players look shell shot i can be honest on sunday which is a which is a massive concern for me um i do think that that does help on the initial period of the game however when what you notice from the game on sunday was when Celtic actually started winning and we can obviously get into it but Celtic started winning a lot so in the first half rangers were

09in a lot of the second balls dead players positioned they were forcing sinisality to kick the ball long but i mean he kicked the ball long Celtic would do the win they'll lose the first contact but there was maybe two or three rangers players around that area so they could pick up on the second balls Celtic that then that didn't happen in the second half because Celtic made a wee change in the midfield i think attack it made a massive impact in there had a really good game but they made a little change and then they started i think they started just getting a bit more confident on the ball i think they started playing through the press a bit more i felt negra was breaking the lines a bit more rangers couldn't then press us and then couldn't force us to play the ball long and then that just sort of totally negated what their whole tactical plan was but then when that was happening you could hear the mumberens and ibrooks the fans were starting to almost get on the not going to Celtic players backs on the rangers players backs and then i think that from that point on it was just a snowball effect but they were really struggling to go in and i think rangers players felt the pressure at that point the way what you're describing there is that like

10almost when you have that individual quality because i think individual or players are probably better than them they may be played better as a sort of functioning unit whereas if our players like your niggurons because i thought nigguron came alive in the second half i thought it was really good really excellent and obviously hitati comes in and he's got bags and bags of quality it's just obviously he's been a bit little bit up and down in terms of form but is it that individual quality versus that sort of team structure and we just kind of unpack the lock i think i think individual quality does help yeah but i do think that Celtic changed the plan in the middle of the field they realised that Oxley Chamberlain and Nigguron just wasn't working together and there were two attacking yeah it was then leaving McGregor really exposed so they tried to stabilize the central area of the pitch which they did because it hitati came on it hitati was dropping deep take the ball off the defender circulating the ball quickly it's the attack him on really dictated the tempo in the middle of the field to the point when just pulls them went right shit what do we do now do we go and press it high do we do this

13do we do that they were kind of struggling whereas before it was like Nigguron Oxley Chamber pushing forward it was really easy to press McGregor and press the defence because nobody was really shown for it to really try and get on the ball and turn the way and play through the pressure so that that change in the middle of the field really really helped us i also feel that the change really helped us as well because to netk for for all the things that it can struggle with in terms of final ball and in terms of being having that in product it can get the ball when it can carry it yeah it can take the ball it'll take the ball on it'll carry it'll take on a player we didn't have anybody doing that in the first half so Rangers weren't quite sure what to do what what I found really interesting was and I'm just thinking back now watch some of the game back last night as well that Rangers tried to make that tactical change and bring Dio Mandi on but they still sat with two sort of holding midfielders rather than bring Dio Mandi back in beside like it was Chukwani and Raskin they kind of left Dio Mandi in that sort of a ten roll which I thought was about weird and Celtic Celtic style dominated because they were just

17basically playing through that midfield unit that they had and I thought Daniel would have maybe just spent a bit more negative but I think he's probably thinking to himself I'm at home I should be winning this game but it just slowly started slipping away from him at that point I thought for a stand to net gay way or when obviously for us comes on a little bit later but they isolated their fullback and kind of drove their fullback in a way that Maiden maybe Yang didn't and I'm not that's not criticism of them because I thought the empatches played pretty well but just those white players being trying to isolate their fullback trying to drive at them trying to be aggressive trying to beat them to get balls in that to me kind of sat them on their ass a bit it did totally but I think a lot of the issues that were stemming in the first half from them not being able to do that is because there was no connection between our sort of central midfield area and getting the ball to our attack players like Adamu was completely isolated we then resulted to playing the ball longer Adamu and he's he's going to struggle against the guys he's

18up against like Fernandez and sort of a big physical guys Adamu's not a target man like going back to the like I literally turned the game on as the game started so I didn't see the team line up so I was trying to piece together who was playing well I was pretty shocked by the who he went with and I felt Adamu was a surprise for me I think dropping Oxley Chamberlain was a bit of a surprise for me and I think he saw and this is no slight analysis Chamberlain was a brilliant player but he just not he's not used to the pace of the game especially the frantic pace of a like a darby game yeah and it looked like a game passed on by a little bit at times and Adamu I think really struggled and I think would always struggle against those players if you're trying to play it long term it's just no slight on him but we didn't have the key thing for me in the first half was that we didn't have control we had zero control of that game Rangers had control of the game we made the changes we made the impact I think only you'll probably give him a great good bit of the ass as well to get a bit of hunger and desire there in the control flip then we totally control the game in a second after the point Galat I cannot wait to enter the game think

22to myself we probably should have won that that's I mean that that's what I thought as well I thought you know in the second half I think we created enough that we should have put it to bed but it was the same kind of issues that we you know not be able to find Adamu right you are giving him the benefit of the doubt which is which is absolutely fine I'm not okay so there you go wait wait wait wait what is your feelings on him I just feel he even see when you're put sometimes that again just from a purely fan point of view sometimes players are putting up an unwinnable situation a situation where you know maybe they're played out a position and they are you know they're not you're not going to see the best of them I didn't see anything from him which is my concern my concern would be that he wasn't working hard enough off the ball and when he had small sniffs of the ball I'm not sure his quality was good enough is it fair to judge

22him on that absolutely not and I'm not saying it is fair but we're in a really unfair situation look they put they put in booking for 45 minutes and they realize very quickly absolutely not out and I just look at someone like Adamu and I think to myself does he so we've got Rangers I know obviously we've got the Aberdeen game which we'll talk about but we get the Rangers game on Sunday right which is it's not a free hit because playing Rangers is never a free hit but it's a derby for the in the Scottish Cup and I don't think Adamu comes into the thinking I don't disagree we go I felt there was points in the game when the ball did go up to him if he could have done better yeah um but the one the worrying thing for me is like I was shocked Adam didn't play I would have played Finchara yeah all day long because I think you would have got more out of him against that defense and not only is he good is he he's been he's been effective at holding the ball up in games that I I feel but not only that I can get in behind

26because he's quick and I think he would have caused him problems but um just thinking about Adamu and the players some of the players that have come in January I'm now saying to myself like for how O'Neill and Maloney want to play in terms of the tactical setup it doesn't shoot it no it doesn't fit it's like it's the wrong PCI jigsaw that's exactly about how I see it now um and I think he's going to struggle I really think he's going to struggle see Shvanshara see the um uh game again stood guard at home we were basically hitting both of them and he was holding the ball up people say he was holding the ball up all game to the point where it was getting it was getting pulled penalty post off that defender as well and it was it was it was winning three kicks and he was getting us up the pitch I don't know why you go okay we're not going to we don't want to use him we're going to go go to Adamu just in terms of I Brooks away from home physical defenders you need someone who's literally going to wrestle and tag deal with John Sutter which I think big time could have done yeah so to me I'm just kind of like why was he not even involved now the

32second half takes care of itself you can say may the through the middle worked whatever but in the first half so I mean that I mean what are the headlines has to be Martin O'Neill got his first choice the team that started was completely wrong is that what you're saying because I I totally I totally like as I was sitting watching the game I was trying to piece who was playing and I was like I felt too attacking in the center midfielder area like oxide chamber is not a certain midfielder negrin isn't a certain midfielder so I was like oh they might overrun us there and they did yeah and I also felt that Adamu just isn't the right profile to to play at center forward especially that I Brooks to me is big time all day long yeah even at half time gal when they made the changes I was like with the first time like I would have played him before I would have put my other through the middle albeit my dad obviously helps us get the penalty um maybe I'll be critical and say probably should have scored but um we had a color chances issue the school I think but um but yeah

32I would have played big time through the middle at that point because you you need that physicality this is the thing I would say I think for me and we talked we've talked about this previously mate but we we lacked physicality in that team you don't need a full team of physical players yeah you need to argue in physical players and certain aspects even the spine of the team that we were spoken about before definitely in the middle of the part for me you need something that's going to be physical and robust and I think that what was interesting was that we managed to turn it on its head without having that physicality but we haven't had that it'd been individually good um having having been structured and dictating the tempo of the game but also I I do feel that Rangers kind of went in themselves for me but because I felt the the crowd were getting on their case and it was a perfect storm for Celtic to just keep keep putting them under pressure and to be honest I kind of felt like the equalizer was coming at that point yeah I think you know I'm very much of the opinion I would prefer to have 11 technical tactical players who don't necessarily have to be physical but at the same time there is a part of me that thinks this specific

35game you can I need to leave one on now and again in terms of like someone like Jon Souter needs a fucking well he needs a slap right but what I mean is someone like Jon Souter I think needs to be physically kind of um you need to take you need to break his concentration and someone like Jon Souter would be easy his concentration is easily kind of fragmented by the physicality of having to be in a battle and I kind of felt like that's something Adamu Adamu never kind of um he was never in his space and what's the word he never took up space around Jon Souter um and I think Big Tam would have and it would have led to different things the header that Maida has when he heads it into the goalkeeper I think I think Big Tam scored that all day long as well I just need to head that across the goal if you head that across the goal he's trying to get him to make a save um not just stay rooted on a spot because it's just too easy for him to collect but I agree I think Tam does better with that chance potentially but listen I

38think um I think they'll go away and they'll probably learn a lot from it I think they realized they made the mistake because obviously they made the changes a half time and we saw how much pressure we were under that first half I'll be honest they've done well to come away from a with retunal tunnel down I felt it could have been more at times but um but listening that they've done well to recover and we've got to give them credit for that yeah I got a question from Matt Matt uh message down and said excuse me so trying to catch my breath after yesterday this was obviously for the agenda but we didn't have time okay what was our game of association football um what what do you think the plan was yesterday for how we were going to hurt them in the first half we started Oxley Chamberlain you would assume he we knew we knew we were there before sorry we started Oxley Chamberlain you would assume we knew we were therefore risking being more open off the ball but wanted to get him on the ball as often as possible so he could show his class and be the creative fulcrum we then played the most one-dimensional football of centre half playing out

39to fill back usually out to the left to kt who was usually double marked he then punched it straight down the left channel 40 yards by passing midfield as a passing learning to McGregor has cut off so what was this plan or do you think this was panic football because their press was stopping us playing through midfield and for going to play long balls we need to create angles via long diagonals my hunch is that because they started the damu they were looking to recreate the hold-up play he showed versus the first half in Stuttgart meaning they wanted to play through midfield and get into his feet in quick transition we then ended up playing in a way that was suited to big time the last few games where he used his strength to buy fills and that left channel from long balls up to him to me it made no sense starting a damu then um playing the way we did the first half I can't work out what they were trying to do um with all these changes we need to get some consistency so we can actually bed in a repeatable way to create chances this may just be as simple as our striking options are all right sorry for a long one but love to hear what you think cheers Matt very good very uh succinct and very well put yeah very good good um good analysis of

44that Matt definitely I think he sort of touched on the the Stuttgart game on Thursday I think the Stuttgart game influenced a lot of what was decided prior to the match on Sunday yeah but I think that was probably a mistake um and I think it's apparent now it was a mistake but I think if if I was if I was part of that decision making process I would have voiced concern over that because if we look at the Stuttgart game in context all be it a good win a good win away from home um we look at the game in isolation however Stuttgart made a few changes to the side as well they they played a few sort of backup players in that game so I think yes the team done brilliantly to come away with that one they'll win but I think that win influenced some of the decision making process and who was starting that game on Sunday and to realise they got that wrong by the first half you know it seemed like in that first half everyone was quite static and it seemed really much so in the second half there was a bit more rotation fullbacks kind of moving about you know trying

50to kind of you know three things up to netk a real you didn't know where to netk he was going to go my either um sorry a tati started popping up in different places just simple movement off the ball I mean I don't understand why we can start like that even with the players we had and I understand that Oxley Chamberlain is a little bit off the bottom of the you know he's not up to speed yet yeah I just worry that we're going to start the next star be the same as we did the last one and not from the same task that's the inconsistency with us just now that's that's the problem that they've got to really resolve like also Rangers went in the first half they went man for man on us and we did not have an answer for that in fact our answer was to put it back to Sinosalo and let Sinosalo had it long I can't remember how many how many kicks he had long kicks he had that first half it was like six or seven though that I remember and I'm saying to myself what are we doing because we're hitting the ball long air damu Rangers are winning the first contact they recover the ball and put us back under pressure again it was like more we're just playing the game

52right into their hands in the first half to the point that like you said you're really looking for people it might be make a better movement it was only really make reggaard dropping back Oxley Chamberlain and Negra more really advanced they weren't really dropping back to pick up the ball everyone looked about lost at times as well as if like what are we doing here how do we come back I know the fans and stuff will have an impact on the players as well the noise and stuff because it was noisy but it just it didn't work it completely didn't what the first half and I think bringing her tattoo on gave us that stability in the midfield for him to dictate play Rangers then didn't know how to manage him because it was like who's picking him up because like you said her tattoos got this brown ability he'll drop in it different species he'll create angles for the matter for the defenders to give him the ball he'll then switch play really quickly so Rangers really struggled with that but he effectively became that connector that we needed in the first half yeah and it didn't really well and then as I said the game then flipped that we were winning the first context we were winning the second balls and we kept Rangers in their own half for a long period

55of time in the second half which was um which was completed opposite from the first um absolutely Dane Murray yes Dane Murray I'd like to know your thoughts on Dane Murray because obviously we covered it on the reaction myself and Colin and then okay we chatted a little bit about it yesterday but Dane Murray obviously makes a mistake and the mistake doesn't outright lead to the goal but it's you know a huge part of the golden seed what did you make his performance what did you make that mistake and how we recovered from it so yeah it's a big big mistake you should really just clear it it's a simple clearance it should be able to deal with it it doesn't and then obviously falls it should meet you then and then obviously takes a goal well and scores um look Dane Murray is going to make mistakes right and that's that's a fact because I had to quit loop last night on how many minutes he's played his career he's only played he's played less than three and a half thousand minutes so it's roughly about sort of 35 40 games if you work it out not a great deal

57of football for a for a professional um obviously a lot of that footballs would play in championship level as well I'll lower level than what he's been used to he's coming into the Celtic team I kind of feel like he's parachuted in the biggest games yeah if you think about it um he's sort of parachuted in these biggest games and he's expected to perform to the elite level it's just not going to happen it's just not going to happen considering he has development cycle um where he is at the minute I have absolutely half time I said to myself I'll be honest I had a question whether we should keep him on yeah like because I'm sending myself he might not recover from this but do you know what fear played the guy he totally recovered I felt he was a he played broadly the second half he won a lot of the balls um he recovered the ball really well he was he just had confidence to play played the ball out from the back as well whereas I look at what you're playing probably with a shoulder that in fact awesome trusty probably with a shoulder with that because I think awesome trusty really struggles after he makes a big big error so he showed a lot of resilience in that game on Sunday which just gave me the the sort of feeling that you

02know what the sun there in him that I think we could really really develop but we need to all understand that he's going to make mistakes hopefully he'll get some games that it's well if the game is really important now isn't it going forward but maybe in the next season he gets more game time and he's not just parachuted into these be all when it all costs games um if he plays against double dean that will be his third game in a row yeah and I I don't have those figures in front of me but I would imagine that would the first time he's played three games in a row for the Celtic first team yeah it must be it must be I should have been playing three games in a row and I guess I guess it says a lot yeah absolutely but let me ask you this right I'm not sure I don't know I was quite a weird tone apologies um but let let me ask your opinion on this if he plays against double dean and he impresses he and he has a game where he doesn't even have to impress he's just solid and you maybe as you said the ball is quite good do you then drop

05do you then drop him for Austin trusty for iberux to then bring him in the game after that because Austin trusty will miss that or do you keep playing game money he played him I'd keep playing him honestly I'd keep playing him especially after the this the second half performance he had on Sunday I don't see how he can drop him like it had a great game against took up like it had a good game in first the night he deserved it I felt he he wasn't one of the ones I was surprised that started that I can't I felt he would start on Sunday but um he he deserved to start for me I think he should be playing and I think that second half performance really gives him the confidence to then push on from that and I think he should do that in Wednesday I agree I agree obviously if we play if we look at it from the perspective of let me just click on this right so we have to we've we've got Rangers um sorry we've got Aberdeen and then we've got Rangers trusty

06can come in for that game and then obviously if he does come in for that game you'll have to go back out again because the game after that's Motherwell right so it's Aberdeen Rangers Motherwell and that will be so he'll trusty won't be available for Motherwell but he will be available for Rangers because it's the Scottish Cup yeah I just if you play trust if you play money against Aberdeen and you play him against Rangers and then you play him against Motherwell and he performs well that'll be one two three four that'll be five games in a row from my perspective I think that then you have to question if he performs well by the way yeah I think you have to question do you bring trusty back in if he's played five people and would you live here's the question do you play trusty over money or to play money over trusty if money goes through these games and he performs to a good level I would stick with Murray

10I would stick with me I would because I I just feel that he's physically so much better he's so much more dominating than the box on the bottom the ball as well I just think he's better on the ball as well I also feel like just that resilience he showed on Sunday he showed more resilience than that setting out the roster trust is so hard and he's also self-dequirer if I'm being completely honest awesome trusty makes a mistake and he just goes into himself then to probably make him another mistake the way Murray handled himself after that error on Sunday really spoke volumes to me in terms of I think there's a player here I think you could become a big player for us yeah I agree I agree and I'll be interested to see kind of what happens from there yeah um obviously that second half you know it attains the the difference maker in a lot of ways my diggers out wide um young uh Tuneckate comes on and he's very effective and he's very direct Jim bag James forest that we back to that that we crossed to the back post for the goal that was delightful um yeah we're going to the well with the same I mean the same type of players

13the same you know you bring James forest off the bench you're bringing Tuneckate off the branch young starting my to start is it just going to be these players but I mean there's only 12 games 13 games left like he's not going to he's not he's not going to make with exception a potentially Murray and um trusty you know and we'll come to the goalkeeper situation in a minute as well but other than that like from an attacking point of view he's not going to go and start bringing in them vuka whether he's not going to bring balacomia and he's it's just going to be this core bunch of players it seems for the rest of the season right I think so yeah and I think that the most of the players that finished the game on Sunday should be starting tomorrow night and I think we can put it on us because um how how they managed to turn that down that deficit was brewing and how they played in the second half was absolutely brewing and we just we need to see that I just I just want to see that for 90 minutes girl I really want to see that performance from 90 minutes we've got to just find that exact same level of performance for 90 minutes and a great way to do it is tomorrow night I guess an Aberdeen team who are really

16strumming so there should be no excuses tomorrow night not to start like that in my opinion if we don't start like that I'll be worried because we might just fall right back into that trap of you know the sort of mundane played you know not really pressing as much and doing this and then might lose a ridiculous goal for a mistake or something like that we're done in the Hibbs game so we just need to see we just need to see some consistency now this is the best time to do it because it's the running for the for the title so um yeah let's hope they can do that it's starting tomorrow uh the goalkeeper situation um we've been crying out for Crasper's sake is is there even a question here is is there a question well I think what I would say is um you know Martin he'll pre-match I know you said you missed it um pre-match he said that Crasper's Michael was poorly oh really yeah was he on the bench no oh he said he was poorly waiting yeah come on I don't buy it I don't buy it at all my question being he said he will

22be available for selection on Wednesday do you think he brings Crasper's Michael back in it's criminal if he does it I'm telling you right now it's criminal Cine Salo is the number one for me right now Cine Salo deserves to have a run a games just like Den Murray having some run a games in a row to really prove he's worth to the club to the fans show shows what you can do I think Cine Salo um has been good in the last couple of games I think you obviously the first goal we eat you're struggling if I can he's point blank range set and go we's ran out and try to make himself look back to be fair I think it's just a good finish from Chimney I'm not critical of them but they're either goals really yeah but um I felt one thing about Cine Salo I noticed like like on Sunday I've noticed them in games that he's very very vocal in terms of where where get the ball moving get and he looks if he's more engaging and more encouraging than Crasper like I think Casper moans a lot but he's dad just to be but I was watching Cine Salo obviously on TV and probably people will see it better live but I felt he was really

25encouraging he was trying to get the was trying to get the position to move the ball quicker speed up the tempo keep the pressure on Rangers and I think you need that from a goalie as well but he was obviously he's happy to come out and get involved in the build up phase as well so to me there is absolutely no question whatsoever Cine Salo gets the jersey tomorrow night um failing that if there's a massive massive planer that he drops um then potentially bring Casper back in but to meet Cine Salo all day long now I think he should be allowed to make a massive client and still keep the jersey well fair enough then we'll go with that just in terms of Casper's vehicles made 10 11 mistakes you know I know that's a fair point mate that's a fair point that there is no there is no justifiable reason to not keep Cine Salo in goals right now there isn't I don't understand that you can maybe turn and say or Casper wasn't aware when they had to take the jersey and like I don't have a lot of fans will buy that either mate to be honest I think Cine Salo's your man I think I think it's 50 50 and I would I would yeah in reality that's what made in terms of what hands I know I I 100% and I think most of the support would be all for Cine Salo

31keeping the jersey for the rest of the season yeah yeah but I think it's 50 50 Schmickle might start tomorrow 80 mate um or they might they might play them they might play Cine Salo tomorrow and then bring Schmickle back for the cup game and then there's a week after that I think they're going to try manipulate time in a way that means that you know if you can if Schmickle can have a good game and that's the last thing you remember I'm doing and then there's a weekend between when it comes to the mother will game everyone will be like well Schmickle was you not everyone but like I think they'll try manipulate time that way because obviously if you play Cine Salo again tomorrow against Aberdeen and he performs well again you know there's a portfolio building up of actually you know I'll be interested I think I was disappointed that Martin well maybe Cine Salo was poorly inadvertent commas and yeah that's fine but there was almost a wink in a

35nod from Martin and when he was doing that interview I've I've no doubt he's got characters to manage me he's got characters and he goes to manage I've absolutely no doubt about that and maybe this is his way of dealing with it and that's fine that's absolutely fine but I think the proof will be in the pudding tomorrow who starts like you said like if he's back and he's available if Caspar comes back and you see yourself like what does would the Cine Salo need to do he will be asking himself that what the fuck do I need to do here to really just try and cement a jersey um so yeah I think Tim will tell us make well which way he's going to go um any interesting stats from the game there's lots probably honest um so yeah we've got the breakdown of the data from from the the Sunday Sunday's game sorry so obviously if we look at the key match day for the film 90 minutes so obviously two each in the game XG 1.68 for Rangers 4.26 for Celtic what through the roof through the roof XG and I don't believe it believe me most of that was the second half because Celtic's XG in the first half was 0.14 so that shows you how dominant

41Celtic better in the second half 16 shots on goal seven on target for Celtic Rangers have 11 shots on goal only three on target two of which obviously the scored the position sort of 48% for Rangers 52% for Celtic um as I can say 74% for Rangers 81% for Celtic I think 74 that was a massive drop off in the second half for Rangers they literally just couldn't couldn't hold the ball as I said the first half that I looked at XG in the first half 0.14 for Celtic Rangers was 1.45 so yeah if we look at the sort of PPDA figure that we've got off the report as well um they were roughly the same it's so Rangers were 10.7 Celtic were 11.1 but if we look at the half breakdowns this was interesting Celtic's first half PPDA was 8.2 so Celtic were trying to they were basically for every position they were trying to create a defensive action they were trying to stop Rangers they just weren't being effective at it but Celtic's PPDA was 17.5 in the second half

42now the reason that's so high is because Celtic had the ball a lot more than what Rangers did and obviously putting him under a lot more pressure in the in the second half compared to the first half oh I'm at one point there's a part of me that's varying courage and excited about this and then there's a part of me that's like not again just yeah you've got this is if this is another fallstone and just looking at the league table um obviously hats 1.1.0 against Aberdeen at the weekend um so hats are top 63 points with 29 games played Rangers are second 29 games played 57 points Celtic are third 28 games played 55 points Motherwell are fourth 53 games played 28 games so if Motherwell win their game in hand they will be a point behind Rangers um if Celtic win their game in hand they will be a point ahead of Rangers so Motherwell

44are in this title if they win this game in hand um which is huge um their game in hand will they've get a game against Dundee on Saturday um it's a Scottish Cup weekend so I think that's the only premiership game so if they win that game in hand excuse me they will be a point behind Rangers and they will be two points behind us they're currently two points behind us this title is it's wide open um and and the split is just going to make it so much more interesting when we all play against each other again and it really is yeah and obviously Celtic play Motherwell the next home game Rangers go to St. Mennon and I know that St. Mennon are you know obviously they if I get I had a couple of dunes recently last time in Motherwell the shurven formalize aren't they but it just seems like that's a game that this Rangers team might struggling I'm not saying they I'm not saying they lose but they might struggling come on I had the hearts go to Kilmarnock Kilmarnock

46come on that's their next league game it's just it says terrifying and exciting and scary and everything is every it's every emotion that's um it is me but what what what what I find interesting so before we came on met I pulled up the the the last 10 game form table of the premiership which is really interesting so um top of the table in the last 10 games is Motherwell Motherwell will lose one game in ten one seven drew two wow um they've scored twenty twenty one goals in ten games and only considered three which is unbelievable for the form for the the the Murrow team and just now hearts a second Rangers a third Celtica down in sixth which isn't great middle of the road but hopefully that time's going to turn but if you look at the teams that you just mentioned there that hearts Rangers and Celtic need to play Aberdeen a bottom of the form table the only one one game in ten Submarin of only one one game in ten drew

49three Kilmarnock of only one two games in ten um drew two so if you look at the form table all three teams should win pretty easily but we just know it's not going to be simple it's that they don't mean it's not going to be as simple as that at all I'm terrified by that start that Aberdeen are bottom of the table that that's the type of thing I don't want to hear um just looking at to to kind of sum up out so I think I've got the worst goal difference out of the top four so hearts goal difference is 28 Rangers is 26 Celtics is 21 and Motherwell's 29th yeah so Motherwell are the top in terms of goal difference in the top four they've got the best goal difference I mean we've scored the same amount of goals as Rangers but we've get we've conceded five more um I mean Motherwell are at 18 in the week we've conceded 18 goals that's I think that I heard the start of the other day I think Motherwell's got the best defensive they've conceded the least amount of goals in Europe yeah which is just incredible absolutely

54incredible it's everyone's talking about you know Motherwell's no attack and play how they move the ball they're actually defensive they've actually been phenomenal defensively so they get the best they've got the best defensive record on the league the next team up is hearts but they've conceded six goals more than then then Motherwell um obviously we go to Patigree tomorrow um um I mean you mentioned that they're bottom of the form table and you know they lost one nail to to hearts at the weekend Peter Levine's in charge for I think his fourth term is caretaker manager as it for us I think it's for I think it's um obviously they don't they've not had a manager confirmed um they're they're looking at that guy who is the sanity and manager and stuff like that I don't know what's really going on from that perspective yeah the region guy yeah um this is obviously a different type of a challenge for Celtic in that you know

56exactly what you're up against when you play Rangers at i Brooks right Glasgow Darby they hate us we hate them it's more than a football match and that can inspire and and obviously put pressure on you know all the narratives with that so that's fine it takes care of itself yeah this game worries me slightly from the perspective of I think if you give this Celtic team the opportunity to drop off they'll take it and sometimes they're they don't perform as well under less strenuous situations less pressure filled situations what about you that's just my vibe at the moment what about yourself I'd listen um if you look back in history over this season that's happen gal does this absolutely like I can talk to understand how you feel like that mate totally get that my worry from from the from for this game coming up as this game's coming pretty soon after that Rangers game on Sunday I'm worried about some fatigue and recovery because I felt

59especially second half I felt the players really exerted a lot of a lot of energy in that game and and in fair play them did they done their best they'll actually try and get us to win that game as well so I love mental and physical exertion from Sunday they've literally would have had recovery yesterday they'll probably train today then travel to Aberdeen um you know tonight tomorrow morning so I do think that um that will that will play a part of that yeah absolutely and I think actually sorry I should say uh Peter Leven Leven whatever uh Leven Greg Leven it's not his first time it's his third time third time has has been which is still wild um I've just I've just seen a stat that here that after 28 games say I'll take a fewer points than at any time in the last 16 years wow really yeah so it's not it's not it's not is that a surprise to you that's not a surprise to me and I'm just I think it just speaks volumes about this year this season's just been chaos

02so we've got 54 points currently um last season at this time at this stage we had 72 points oh that's a big jump uh two seasons before that 2223 which was post the coagulers last year we had 79 points at this stage yeah uh 16 17 season weighed 80 points can we show this to the board uh well there you go um in terms I think sorry Goway just just to touch on that we'll talk about obviously the points but I remember one of the first debriefs we done back probably must have been August and we sat and discussed about how little we showed in terms of scoring up front and I think that's that's so part of it yeah I think the lack of goals I don't think that we've had three managers over four different periods um we haven't sort of solved that problem we haven't solved the problem of who's going to score goals for us we'll prong in a turn now just ventrara those guys don't look prolific in front of goal um so honestly we're

09crying out for something to just be prolific for us we admired the last year stepped up to the mark after q go in and we're sitting here almost an interseason we've still no resolved that so that is a big big problem for us going forward for next season we need to resolve that quickly in regard to obviously we have a game midweek rangers don't we play them in the Scottish Cup on Sunday if you worried about kind of I don't want to say the word burn out but like you worried that the midweek game will affect the game on Sunday and I know I know I know that the midweek game is the most important one but still going I broke so you want to you want to beat them yeah I mean still IP I know but you don't want to go there and just make up the numbers don't you know like I don't accept that as a Celtic fan but I I do have some worry about that because I think you they will have to rotate the squad they're gonna have to it it's just like you just said there it's somebody they prioritize it's a really difficult one I think hopefully tomorrow

13that if we can start quick tomorrow and really get a couple of goals in the first half we can then look to rotate and look to maybe rest some players in the help them with their recovery because I do think there is there's a great there's a big risk of physical burn out at this stage and the games are coming thick and fast I'm obviously had Europe last week as well so there's an exception from that I do think that that's going to play into the Rangers game on Sunday 100 but is it Sunday the game or Saturday Sunday Sunday Sunday Sunday should have got actually a day of recovery which isn't too bad as well which that obviously helps is so it's going to play into it it's going to be interesting to see what your team line up is tomorrow I'll be honest I would start with the team that finished probably even forest I'd even start with forest tomorrow night just just go with that but and have the opportunity to then make changes but yeah I think it's just going to be I think a lot of it rests on how we start tomorrow night gals what I'm trying to say here I think it starts if we start well we can at least manage it a bit better if we don't and we're having to throw away some one basket then that could play in as a negative effect for

13us on Sunday obviously Aberdeen it's very difficult to kind of know how they're going to play I mean a couple of good players you know Niz but up front you know I know he missed that sit out the other day but you know he's still a good striker and Olesaña for more said men and player and he went out to Houston I think I like him and he's a good player and the boy Geiger looks quite good for them as well about the boy Dennis Geiger in the middle of parking we've played in the Bundesliga getting stuff like that as well so they've got some they have got some decent players there mate they're just they're just not functioning as a team like I watched I caught most of the Mudwell Aberdeen game on Saturday afternoon and Mudwell Mudwell just strode it to be honest pretty much strode the game they've really struggled to get near them did I have a couple of chances just didn't take them however it could be different at home for them and obviously tomorrow night so yeah it's a difficult one what takes bet but I just think that Celtic need to go into that game tomorrow with the same intensity they had in the Rangers game and look to get a couple early goals

14and really just try and settle the nails because I just feel that when Celtic had not scoring early I just feel a lot of pressure builds up on the team and then they start reverting back to you know passing the ball back nobody want to take a chance nobody want to take a risk we just need to get out of that that sort of a trap and hopefully get a couple early goals and push on from that. So with how we've scored lots of like goals recently do you think teams will try and like be aware of that and try and like when it gets to the last five or ten minutes like maybe plan for defending against a barrage sort of thing. I think they have to I think you've got to take notice of it I know I saw the stat one Sunday but they make a goal Celtic of scored 90 plus minutes which is incredible this year and I do think a lot of it comes down to fatigue from the opposition team I think they start to struggle because like for all Celtic have been playing great and brewing they do suffocate if I've lost a period to the game to the point that takes a lot of physical energy and mental energy out of the team if you'll do opposition. So I do think that

18plays into it I think what teams will probably try to do now is they're trying to be secure the defense maybe putting extra defender on us I'm glad to try and defend when those first contacts more but yeah that's that I seen on Sunday during the season just getting pretty incredible when it goes you're scored in the last minute this year there's obviously kept us in the hunt. Yeah absolutely in terms of just so you would play the Tunecki forest Maida, McGregor, Hattati, Negrin, Denmari, Scales we just start the two fullbacks being Tierney and I don't know. Cool I would I think knowing that I'm thinking about it I'd maybe the only change I'd probably make to that guy was probably Tam for Maida I think I'd go with Tam starting on tomorrow night for Maida and you could always bring Maida on at some point but yeah I'd probably go with that mate I think the midfield picks itself now I think considering how we've done well in Sunday and how more control we've got into the game I think it'd be mental to just like rip that up and put

20some nails in there I think a rock was a starter every day of the week now especially if you say is that true that the end of the game as well I quite like that definitely like that so yeah that would be the team for me tomorrow night mate. I'll be interesting obviously we've got the Derby on Sunday as well so it's a big week but yeah we got Ibrox with the point probably should have been three but I can't the games keep on rolling and absolute joy as always well we'll speak to you again very soon sir. Probably mate thanks for having me speak to you soon. Lovely stuff from Al Glaven from myself Chris Galer this has been the debrief we'll be back we've got pods all through the week so stick with us and we'll speak to you down the road.
