00Hello everybody, I'm here with Eric and we're going to talk some spring practice number seven intel and we're going to give you the goods before we do that head over to inside Texas right now you can join for 50% off you know just get our board you get on three and rivals and the ultimate fan bundle click that link in the description below. All right Eric let's just start let's set the stage first they were doing thud tempo not not tackle so what does thud tempo mean well I mean thud is just you know what is the sound it's on them on a piece of thud is two things thudding against each other it's it's hitting without tackling not tackling down to the ground so that's how some of these plays go longer than then they would be in a game you know you don't have gang tackling you know guys kind of getting ping pong around but Thursday's practice you're going to want to see that update we'll have that Friday morning probably will be live tackling to the ground and we'll get a little bit better idea for who can break tackles and who's missing tackles so we had three periods we had moved the field which I assume is between the 20s red zone which is we're excited to hear about and then fastball which is a tempo portion we'll take them one by one let's start off with red zone defense had a little bit of issue with that I don't know in previous practice or scrimmage did that get cleared up.
13Yeah I mean you know so that kind of new in the defense in the red zone install and I think much champ was breaking some habits that don't aren't necessarily congruent with the way he teaches defense so there was there was some pretty understandable mistakes in that first scrimmage it was cleaned up a lot more in the last practice you know I think guys are yeah like it's we talked about it previously they get it getting rid of some muscle memory of you know backpedaling when they should not be backpedaling you know there's nowhere to go you know play play your technique play downhill because it's not confident that you're gonna go make a play on the ball if they throw it over your head except yeah if they throw Cam Coleman you might have a problem yeah so Cam Coleman fade touchdown that's exactly what we want to hear yeah I mean we want to hear even though there's the zero sum of I think he's doing that he's doing it again somebody but we still need to hear it right because Cam Coleman is supposed to be a first round pit which means that he should be able to do it on first round corners and yeah they threw KJ through a good fade ball of the red zone it was really good coverage it was just a better throw a better catch and you know that's that's
13football and yeah I think it was on Cade Phillips and Cade Phillips gave up a touchdown like that last year uh right place uh right time just couldn't quite uh couldn't quite extend and make a play but uh interesting of you know Cam Coleman's been going up against all the corners but it seems like he's matched up on Cade Phillips more than anybody else and there's been a lot of really good give and take back and forth between those guys I think Cade Coleman's just a little bit further along his maturation he's a better outrunner than people give him credit for but everything I'm hearing about Phillips where he matches up against him is quite encouraging as well. Yeah it's good for Cade right like when you're playing other teams you want him rep it against Cam Coleman in practice Cade wants and Cade wants that you know if you're good if you're a great player you've got to be competitive and Cade wants that you know a lot of those cornerbacks we heard that from our sources like they're the most excited players on the team outside of the quarterbacks were the cornerbacks because now you get the whole iron sharp and Zion premise yeah then we go a tempo portion so what did we learn from that where they uh in sync yeah I mean the best part about that that we heard was just that you know giving the calls in on time and executing the plays you know executing the defensive call executing the offensive play um that was uh that's the most encouraging thing you know we didn't hear about any big plays necessarily but they go hyper speed they go comically fast like they you know they would make uh they'd make oh you blush with how fast they like to go with tempo in there uh so just getting the calls in and making sure everybody's on the same page is step one that's that's the whole basis of tempo right they go fast so you can't get on the same page and that's how big plays break uh happen so uh so far so good on that front
43yeah logistics are sound and fastball and then move the field so between the 20s um Texas this is generally where Texas has always been pretty good between the 20s um but you said that there was one key issue an important key issue uh they had you know three snap penalties that's you know no big deal uh you know I mean it is a big deal but I mean I can't sit here and talk about it every practice report for three or straight you know I mean it's uh at some point it'll get fixed um you know they did better in the scrimmage that was encouraging and then you know kind of back to some old old issues and you know I'm not there to have my eyes on it so I don't know exactly what it is it seems like it's something different each time it's not one individual player uh jump in early uh every time it's just the myriad issues and it you know it goes back to what we were talking about offline and what we were talking about online for a long time is that I think the offensive line just has a lot on their plate you know they got shifts motions uh you were talking about late adjustments uh you know to a shifting defense uh there's just a lot on their plate it's you know it's kind of a pro offense uh and these
47are college kids so uh you know I don't know Sart here's the thing man Sart when Sart knows he has an issue and he really homes in on he usually gets it fixed and they have all the motivation in the world to get this right okay and then from the interview earlier this week Chris Lowe got out of Sart that Arch wouldn't be in actual scrimmages or you know getting hit but he would still be involved so what's the latest there yeah Tuesday was his most involvement of spring so far seven on seven and other uh individual or position group work uh through the ball a lot look pretty good uh yeah Arch there's no concerns with Arch you know I got asked online today we're doing the Q&A right now actually um you know missing Arch you're missing some details on some intel on his improvement you know what were you hoping to hear and I was like look there's nothing I'm gonna hear in practice about Arch that makes me feel one way or the other uh it's all about when the lights come on you know he wasn't missing those mesh throws and those he he didn't have accuracy issues in practice to the degree that he showed uh what was it you Tepples really bad um you know Ohio State obviously
50missed a couple he wasn't how he didn't demonstrate that I wouldn't have been as high on him going in the last year if I had heard hey this guy is missing ten yard outs uh and so it's gonna be hey how does it come down to and in uh in game situations like he didn't show bad mechanics and practice you know uh nobody was worried about it nobody was wondering if he was hurt you know there's nothing there was none of that in practice last year so these are all game time issues um but he doesn't need to give a little more consistent with his accuracy even you know I think he's a fantastic prospect you know I've been as high on that guy as anybody uh but if I heard it was more consistent practice it wouldn't matter because I need to see it against Ohio State yeah there's something appeared psychological there um once here in front of a hundred thousand people okay and the next this was a big brain move by you um you asked your source uh who were the best players at certain positions and uh and this is good stuff all right so let's start with running back he kind of ranks the new additions and then we'll guess what Michael Terry we're going to talk about him everybody um but first uh new additions ranking well I you know I asked him said hey who's
55the best running back and he said well what I think or what people want to hear and I said well I'm asking you could though I care what you think and uh yeah he he said Derek Cooper first and I said okay now yeah I can see that's going to get some uh some try and I've got people online asking you about a two right now on on IT um eight you know there's a couple different ways to look at it when he says best I probably should have dug a little deeper you know are you talking about talent or are you talking about best right now let's pick up and all the nuance things that come with experience uh so I probably could have pushed back a little bit more on there but here here's the thing Sark every we've heard from I can't every source we have is raving about Derek now yeah the sources go fairly high up and um so it's not like we're just you know we didn't hear it you know some of it will whisper in the background and we're running wild with it it's it's coming from everywhere like it did with Xavier worthy uh and like it did with other guys Grayson Littleton last year you know if you're on this channel last year we mentioned Grayson Littleton and pretty much every update um but you know experience matters to Sark uh quite a bit and so we're not sitting here
55predicting that Cooper is going to start this season but we do think that he's going to play a lot as a rotational player early you know I mean he's going to be playing a lot in the first game and so you know it's the most talented that's easy to believe it's either best right now you know that's a little harder to believe but uh the point is that he's right on time um and you know my evaluation on him is going to be proven wrong probably in the first game because I thought it would take him a little bit more time to develop uh some of their nuance that is required of the position uh but I feel confident that I was wrong on that I feel confident on that in January and now I actually know I'm wrong it so he's going to play a lot early on now is he the best right now uh you know this guy thinks so but by mid-season we might all think so you know I don't know it all it takes the one spring one playing a spring game and everybody else is going to be on the hype train too so you know well anyway bottom line that guy's the head of the curve and then what about the transfer dudes well he put Relic and Smothers uh he put Relic first and then
55Hollywood second as far as transfers go but it's it's really close and they're just kind of different players um yeah I think Relic makes more of the wild plays Smothers makes more of the A you need these plays to keep head of the sticks you know so and Relic just had that big run of the scrim is fresh on everybody's mind it's kind of a one A one B the Texas I mean it's just it's the most upgraded room not even close uh from last year's is running back so feel good about that uh I did ask about Michael Terry because I get asked about him all the time I do have the most updated um I need to have the most updated information on him and um I said I see the most physical running back I was because I you know I was I was leading the question a little bit I was expecting to get some positive feedback there and um he said yeah but it's it's him or Cooper you know give the give them not a Terry just because he's so big you know he's about six two six two and a half two twenty two twenty five uh he's got more size on that Cooper's gonna Cooper's gonna be a big responder to to the weight room um you know after this next season he's gonna probably
56two fifteen uh but those two guys are the best powerbacks and then Terry also has you know he's got good hands too so you know the the bottom line with Terry is he's he's he looks much more like a real running back uh now than he did you know when they moved him when did they move and they moved him there in like September I think maybe October so he's just looking much more comfortable to position all right you ask wide receiver let's go ahead and get Cam Coleman out of there we already knew that so we kind of shifted to the freshman are you ready to love your kitchen and bathroom again looks kitchen and bath will bring that to life looks has been offering high-end kitchen and bathroom remodels for three generations throughout the greater Austin area with five star review after five star review on google and facebook and an a plus rating from the better business bureau you can put your faith in lux kitchen and baths award-winning designers and skilled crafts people to bring your dream vision to life but that's not all lux's all-star team also provides full home remodels large additions and even commercial buildouts as well so call lux kitchen and bath at

00really paying close attention to chris steward there I think they might have been steward's first offer I was very high on steward because he had really good play speed but then steward's career took a took some interesting twist he played quarterback at at a necessity and I think that really that's really really learn how to play water seaver he's he gets mentioned as a guy running the best routes and everybody talked about bishops route running does Bryant focused on it but chris steward's together it's known for running the best routes and then co and brown most physical which is not surprised he you know it looks like an action figure but also has a lot of savvy to them and man why why do severs that are savvy and physical there's a lot you can do with guys like that you know that's that's when you start talking about an quant bold and stuff and and then bishop of course just you know fastest most explosive but also a good route runner savvy I've been searching for the word for brown and savvy's it even on the huddle tape it's just like he knew where to be in the field and so I thank you source that said that because that's how I'll describe him going forward that's correct yeah savvy and savvy goes a long way especially when you have ten six feet yeah and that's
05what's so weird is he was so savvy I just kind of assume he was slow you know because he's no no you develop that but he's savvy and he's quick I got to tell the story back when you know when he decommitted from USC and I heard Texas had interested and I'm like well the U.S. you didn't want of how good is he and I'm like wait how's this guy not going USC yeah you know everybody's high on to no to no kinds out there at USC Cohen rounds on much more complete water severs than to no kinds and to no six started balling out it's taking half a last season so yeah they got I really liked that water severs class so all right best corner this one's fun because we have a lot of names here what do we get yeah this this is another one that I think you could go in a couple different directions at least in the fans mind with this guy didn't has a tady said bo-masco and he said bo's probably the best nickel too and we're all in love with Grayson little tin you know a cage Phillips talk about him all the time Kobe blacks looking great Warren Roberson's a stud I mean they've got all these guys that can start Wardell Mack and Nickel can start but bo-masco was basically named best corner and he got the nod for for the reason that you would expect experience
10veteran you know a lot of playing corner you know we always look about these guys doing hyper athletic things and accelerating and jumping and all these super athletic things but a huge part of playing corner is being patient and calm you don't want to you don't want to unleash the athleticism so you have a pretty good idea where the play is going otherwise you get out of position pretty quick so his calm patients both at nickel and corners is doing him well and also he's you know he's been doing a good job making plays on the ball so yeah I mean when they lost when when we all knew Manny was going to go early we all thought hey they need to get some experience in the room never my mind that I think they were going to get experience and us to you know we just thought they would get some guy that would come in and eventually give way to the much more town and players they got a talented guy who's also experienced huge win right here and then safety not surprising but the source says exactly what I want to hear about safety place so who got the number one safety spot well I was obviously Jolani I was just kind of trying to get a peek in that room
10um you know it hasn't he hasn't made a ton of spectacular plays we haven't really mentioned him but I'm fine I'm fine with that right not giving up plays correct um but really he's he's been mentioned for his leadership the vocal leadership you know the line there's not really leadership in that linebacker room yet we'll talk about linebackers next uh and the leadership on that room is is you know it's it's hero canoe and Colin Simmons well they're not going to be looking back in the whole defense lineup right so you need that communication coming from the back to the front uh and Jolani's really growing into that role there's a lot more comfortable you know he he knows he's coverages he ran he ran some of these coverages before um obviously he's he's very comfortable with Blake Gideon um but yeah he's growing into his own as a leader back there which I think yeah the cerebral aspects of the game if that rounds in a four minute it starts seeing that crazy playmaking like like we saw in in spurts uh the last two seasons that's the whole point that's all I wanted to see from Jolani I know he can jump super I've already seen all that the wild place I didn't know if he can be a leader a communicator and get
11guys lined up that's the next step so to hear that that that's really playing safety that's not playing athletes so that's great to hear then linebacker weird right because Tainty Smith is out he wasn't a superstar or anyway so trying to figure out that room but uh we mentioned two players here and let's lead with Justin Kreyer out of Florida State. Kreyer well first of all you know the reason that we're hearing about him being so good is they they they seem to have a really good understanding of his strengths and weaknesses like that guy lives in the box you know he just he's running the triangle he is not out in space much uh and that's why we're hearing really good things about him but so he's got the leadership in changeables doesn't really have the time within the program so we're really where you know people are still going to learn him and he's still going to learn everybody else um so when I assume the best and the guys a lot just depends on what they're asking them to do you know Kreyer's better in the box than Biles but Biles is better at everything else which he'd expect um and Biles is kind of a you know he leads by example he leads with his actions not a super talkative guy out there Tainty does have that leadership stuff obviously
15he's got the time in the program he's got the respect of his teammates hard worker and all that stuff but you can't leave from the sidelines and so he's you know he's just a little bit on the outskirts right now but this I'm not worried about leadership in that group at all because it's it's there it's just it's just going to take a little bit more time awesome great great update Eric head over to inside Texas we record these videos a while after these notes come out if you want them hot off the presses you need to go join right now 50% off ultimate spring sale ultimate fan bundle you can get on three rivals and our board click the link in the description to join everyone have a great day
