Defensive line coach Rod Rye moves up to defensive run-game coordinator and senior offensive assistant Jerry Sheplinsky steps in as quarterbacks. Coach, these changes feel spots left open after tight-ends coach Jake Moreland and quarterbacks coach Jared Johnson departed last month. Sheplinsky brings a ton of experience to the quarterback role. A graduate of John Carroll University, he worked closely with the offensive coordinator last season after joining from the Los Angeles Rams. He's also coached quarterbacks for the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants, including time with Tom Brady during his 7th Super, Bullwins. Meanwhile, the team added James Forens as tight-ends coach. He was previously an assistant offensive line coach with the New York Giants and even
started games with the Patriots while spending time on the Texans. Practice Quad. Teequan Underwood joins as assistant receivers coach rounding out some experienced NFL hands. Houston also brought in several new assistants on offense and defense. Offensive assistants include Taylor Embry, Alex Ward, and Cole Weeks, while Jay Simpson and Mark Sheridan joined the defensive side. This completes the staff ahead of big off-season moves. Free agency kicks off March 11, so the Texans are set to build around this group as the newly year begins. Support for this episode comes from our sponsor. See the description.
