Texans Promote Schuplinski, Add New Coaches

Defensive line coach Rod Rye moves up to defensive run-game coordinator and senior offensive assistant Jerry Sheplinsky steps in as quarterbacks. Coach, these changes feel spots left open after tight-ends coach Jake Moreland and quarterbacks coach Jared Johnson departed last month. Sheplinsky brings a ton of experience to the quarterback role. A graduate of John Carroll University, he worked closely with the offensive coordinator last season after joining from the Los Angeles Rams. He's also coached quarterbacks for the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants, including time with Tom Brady during his 7th Super, Bullwins.
