Tennessee's Amari Evans Hobbles into SEC Tournament

0:00On March 10th, Tennessee basketball freshman guard Amari Evans is dealing with a sore left ankle as the team gears up for the SEC tournament. The injury happened during their recent loss to Vanderbilt when he twisted it on a drive to the basket and later dove for a loose ball. He stepped off briefly for evaluation but came back only to limp out for good with just 47 seconds left in the game. Trainer Chad Newman and strength coach Gary Midenwald checked him out right away. Rich Rick Barnes shared an update on Tuesday saying it's still tender this time of year and players like Evans and Nate Oman might not hit full. Strength. They're pushing through with treatment and managing what they can handle. Barnes expects Evans to get some work in during practice before the balls hit to Nashville, though it's not certain. The fifth seeded team tips off Thursday around 3pm, Eastern against the winner of Auburn and Mississippi State. With Tennessee advances, they'll take on fourth seeded Vanderbilt Friday afternoon.
