Teen Arrested After Accidental Shooting

A Tuscaloosa teen faces charges after accidentally shooting another teen in a home on Azalea Lane. The incident happened Thursday shortly after 1pm. Police rushed to the scene following a 911 call about an accidental gunshot. They found the victim with a serious wound but not life-threatening and rushed him to a hospital. The shooter who lives at the home admitted to officers he was handling a handgun when it went off and hit the other boy. Investigators from the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit spoke with everyone involved, including witnesses. The suspect's mother was home during the shooting but said she had no idea her son even had a gun. This detail came out as police pieced together what happened inside the house. After reviewing statements authorities arrested the boy on charges of assault and illegal possession of a firearm since he's forbidden from having. As a juvenile his name isn't being released.
