The main reason is, sky-high production costs that studios like Peacock and Universal say can't be cut. McFarland explained this in a recent interview. He heard loud and clear from execs that making the show cheaper just isn't possible. For the season 2 finale shows young John heading to the gym to bulk up, bridging right into the original film with Mark Wahlberg. The creator gave big props to the visual effects crew, animating the bear every episode across 15 episodes over two seasons was brutal. It's like cranking out an Avengers-level blockbuster every 22 minutes, thanks to teams in Australia and lessons from the earlier movies. No plans exist yet for more live-action Ted, continuing the story would need some tricky plot twists since they tied it off neatly.
