The NHL and NHL Players Association are once again celebrating teachers who bring hockey into the classroom to teach science, technology, engineering, and math. They've named Nareg Decker-Mengeon, a fifth grade teacher from Dixie Canyon Community Charter School in Sherman Oaks, California as the 20. 25 future goals, most valuable teacher. He was nominated by the Los Angeles Kings. This program kicked off nominations back in December through a public call. A judging panel picked up to 32 standout teachers, and then the public got to vote for the top one. The winner scores a trip to an NHL event as a big thank you. Teachers like Decker-Mengeon make a real difference by using hockey's fun side to spark kids' interest in tough subjects.
