Teacher Arrested for Student Misconduct

A teacher at Walton High School in Walton County, Florida, faces serious charges after an alleged inappropriate interaction with the student. 72-year-old Michael Lewis Jones was arrested for offenses against the student by an authority figure, a second degree felony. The Walton County Sheriff's Office received a report on March 3rd about the incident involving an exceptional student education student. Another school staff member also reported seeing a suspicious encounter between Jones and the student on campus that same day. Jones was immediately placed on administrative leave and removed from the school. Debidies took him into custody at his home nearby Holmes County, and he is set to be extradited back to Walton County. School principal Brianna Levins addressed the community, saying the events have deeply affected everyone, including staff. She stressed the school's dedication to making sure students feel safe and supported. Officials are asking anyone who thinks they may have been harmed by Jones to reach out to the Walton County Sheriff's Office criminal investigations.
