Surrender Is the Key
About this episode
Why do human philosophies keep promising freedom—yet leave people more anxious, confused, and broken?
In today’s MY Devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef traces the root of our modern spiritual crisis back to the first temptation in the garden: Adam and Eve believed Satan’s lie and chose rebellion over God’s perfect wisdom. That same pattern still drives every ideology that elevates human desire above God—and it’s why man-made “solutions” always fail.
But there is real hope: only God’s wisdom can repair what sin has destroyed. And God hasn’t left us guessing. Through the Holy Spirit, believers have access to the mind of God—yet Dr. Youssef reminds us that the Spirit’s guidance isn’t experienced through information alone, but through surrender.
You’ll hear why:
daily yielding to the Holy Spirit is essential for clarity and spiritual strength,
ignoring the Spirit grieves Him—and persistent disobedience can quench His voice,
many can read the Bible and still miss its meaning without the Spirit’s illumination, and
it’s never too late to invite the Spirit back into the “driver’s seat” of your life.

0:00This is Michael Yusuf, and you're listening to today is my devotional, uncompromising truth for everyday faith. 10 March 2026 Surrender is the key. Sin first entered the world when Adam and Eve believed Satan's lie and ate the fruit God had forbidden them to eat. They disobeyed, choosing their own wisdom rather than trusting and following God in His infinite perfect wisdom. All these years later, nothing has really changed. Each human philosophy and ideology elevates man's desires above God's and that's why they will all fail. Only God's wisdom can actually fix the messes we've made. But while we have access to the mind of God through the Holy Spirit, the only way to fully benefit from the Spirit's work in our lives is to surrender ourselves to Him. Every day, we must ask Him to take over, to sit in the driver's seat.
1:04In a sense, we must do what Adam and Eve failed to do, yield everything in our lives to God through His Spirit. If we ignore or disobey the Holy Spirit, we will grieve Him. If we keep it up, we may even quench Him. In other words, He'll stay silent until He's invited back in. No wonder so many people today can read the Bible and yet miss everything it's saying. But the good news is it's never too late to surrender to the Spirit. If we but ask, He will lead us and guide us, giving us the wisdom we need to thrive in this world. Pray with me, precious Lord. I want to walk by Your Spirit to keep and step with My best friend. I know that means I must submit. I must decrease and Christ must increase in me. Give me the will to walk in Your ways and to call on You that I might become more and more like My Savior. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
