2:04What is going on everybody? Welcome back to Red Sea Radio. My name is Covenant. Thank you very much for clicking on this video. Ladies and gentlemen, it is March 4th. The Red Sox are in the midst of their spring training. WBC is about to kick off Roman Anthony's hitting absolute tanks for USA becoming our Captain America here. We've got Will, your brave hitting triples for Venezuela. It feels really good to have baseball back again, yet here we are talking about something that kind of held our grips, basically the entirety of the MLB off season, and that's the idea of the Red Sox training for Isaac Pradeys. This idea just simply will not go away. And once again, the Red Sox have been connected to this idea of training for Ashows Third Basement. Well, it's become a really interesting talking point. So what I wanted to do was break down the latest connection between the Red Sox and the Houston Ashows, specifically for Isaac Pradeys, and I kind of want to talk about why this conversation has shifted quite a bit to the point now where it may just be time to let this thing die. But before we get into that, just a heads up, we are going to be live two nights right here

We're going to be going over all the latest goings on with the Red Sox, some injury updates, are you talking about some potential battles coming into spring training? That's a ton of fun all of these spring training ones because it's really just one big debate. So I will see you guys tonight, 7 p.m. Eastern time. Let's get into this thing. So the reason we are once again talking about the idea of the Red Sox training for Isaac Pradeys is because once again, and nationally, this was brought up yesterday. Ken Rosenthal created an article talking about the fact that the Ashows really need to figure out their infield in that Isaac Pradeys is the easiest one to trade. I'll link that in the description. The quote we are focusing on here is the attachment to the boss in Red Sox. Ken Rosenthal believes that the Red Sox are the best fit for Isaac Pradeys, still despite the Caleb Durbin trade. His exact quote was, the Red Sox, even after requiring Caleb Durbin from Milwaukee, still looked to be the best fit for Pradeys. They could play him a third and Durbin a second without needing to rely on Marcella Meyer. Now, the first thing that I want to talk about with this quote is, I think Ken Rosenthal's

4:08kind of misconstruiting exactly what role Marcella Meyer is going to have on the 2026 Red Sox, right? Because I'm not entirely sure if it's the Red Sox feeling burdened by Marcella Meyer. In fact, I'm pretty confident it's not the Red Sox kind of being burdened by this idea of, hey, we have to have Marcella Meyer on this team because we didn't acquire another bet. Personally, I think the Red Sox want Marcella Meyer on this team, and I have actual evidence to back that up, right? We know that this offseason, Diamondbacks and the Red Sox were pretty close to getting a deal done for Gatellmartane. In fact, the only difference was is that the Arizona Diamondbacks wanted Marcella Meyer and the Red Sox wouldn't give up Marcella Meyer. If they felt burdened by the idea of having Marcella Meyer on their ball club, and really were just simply looking for a way out of having him on the opening day roster, that deal would have been done and signed for a while ago, but it didn't get done, right? So immediately you sit there with Ken and it's like, okay, like you understand the idea of why Ezok Praiti fits with this ball club. You understand kind of what it means to get Ezok Praiti's in here and what it could do for the offense, but to sit here and say that their best fit is because they're burdened

5:12with Marcella Meyer, it just doesn't make a ton of sense to me. So why would they continue to be connected to Ezok Praiti's? Well the answer is pretty simple, right? I think most people in baseball are sitting there saying, hey, the Red Sox could use some more thumb. I think Red Sox fans are sitting there and the Red Sox could use a bit more thumb, right? You put Ezok Praiti's into this lineup, he's going to hit a few more home runs and you're currently projected. And yeah, I think you know, you sit there and it's like, okay, you like the player, right? You like the player. I like the player a lot. I've talked about him a few times on this channel, probably more than a few times on this channel here. And we've talked about how much I wanted him in a Red Sox uniform, but the problem now becomes that the Red Sox who kind of fully pivoted here, right? It's a different conversation surrounding the way the Red Sox, you're going to win games now than it was three weeks ago. The Red Sox lost Alex Braggman and instead of trying to get, you know, a top 40 player in baseball to replace him, they said, look, we're going to go completely differently. We're going to go athletic, we're going to go young, we're going to go talented and we're going to go defensive. That's exactly what they did. They bring in Rangers Suarez for five years. They trade for Caleb Durbin, the Red Sox are not only younger, but they're more talented,

6:15I think. Then they were, you know, right before they lost Alex Braggman and now they're a little bit better defensively and in terms of their pitching, Ezok Praiti doesn't really help with that game plan anymore, right? And I don't see the Red Sox really combining to do that. But that doesn't mean I still don't like the player. What I don't like about this is the idea of what it would take to bring him in at this point in time. Because not only does Ken Rosenthal lay out that the Red Sox is the best fit for the Houston Ashows, he also lays out how the Red Sox should plan on doing this by saying that a deals should be centered around Jaren Iran and should remain within reach. Now, you guys know I didn't really shy away from the idea of the Red Sox trading away Jaren Iran this off season. In fact, we talked about it quite a bit because it felt like something that the Red Sox were extremely open to because it was something the Red Sox were extremely open to, right? It's not because I don't like the player. It's not because I don't like the guy. It's because the Red Sox were sitting there saying, look, we'll be open to trading the Rand if the price is right, right? We know that they've asked different teams about what it would take to get Jaren Iran in a different uniform in this particular situation at this point in time.

7:17After you've acquired Caleb Durbin, I'm not entirely sure how much better your Red Sox team would be with IE Sox on your team versus Jaren Iran on your team. If you look at what they did last season, yeah, I think overall Paradeys was the better bat last year, but I think Jaren Iran coming forward could end up being the more valuable player overall. He's more athletic on the base pass and it's not like Paradeys was hugely better at the dish percentage stats wise, like they were in the same ballpark for most of these, right? I mean, the averages were within two, you're looking at on base percentage and slugging within relatively similar rounds here. I think Paradeys OPS was just like at 25, 30 more points higher than Jaren Iran's, right? It's not like you're getting an exceptionally better bat for IE Sox Paradeys, but this is a guy who plays below average defense. Not that Durbin was some stellar defender last year, but has the potential to be a good defender. The other thing that I think it's important to note at this point here is that by trading Jaren Iran for IE Sox Paradeys, you're also trading some games. IE Sox Paradeys doesn't tend to play full seasons. Durbin does tend to play full seasons, right?

8:19It's an interesting conversation now, then it was specifically before the Durbin deal. Because at this point, what you're doing is you'd be trading from your glutney of outfielders and you'd be creating a little bit of a solution for the log jam out there, but you'd also be creating a little bit of a log jam on the infield. All of a sudden, it becomes okay, well, what do you do with Durbin and Meyer? Do you platoon both of those guys at second base? That doesn't make a ton of sense because the goal was to have Durbin be an everyday player this season. Do you place Marcelo Meyer in AAA? That feels like a little bit of a waste of talent, in my opinion, because it's clear that he's a little bit better than what AAA requires, and yeah, there are things that you can work on with him for sure. And I think there's a debate to be had there that, hey, maybe he does need a little bit more seasoning in AAA before he makes his major league, you know, full-time status debut here. But at the same time, too, it's like, well, if you wanted to do that to begin with, again, why didn't you just trade him for, could tell Marta and call it a day and get the much better player? But you didn't do that because you wanted to see what Marcelo Meyer could do with the major league level. So that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. The other thing, too, is that he's not pretty, so it would actually work really well as

9:21a D.H. Having him in here as sort of your almost everyday D.H. can play a little bit at third base when he's needed. He can play a little bit at second base when he's needed, and sort of, you know, mix and match in there. And by trading to Rani, you do create the opportunity to do that. But the only way that that works is if you attach Marcelo Takioshita to this deal. I don't know that the Houston Ashows are going to want Marcelo Takioshita or any part of his contract, even if the Red Sox pay, let's say, you know, over half of that deal. The other thing with that, too, is I don't know if the Red Sox want to attach Jaren to Rani just simply to move Marcelo Takioshita and put this bat in your D.H. slot, right? I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I do that. I don't think that makes a ton of sense. So the price in terms of getting E.S.O.K. parades has changed, in my opinion, pretty drastically between when they first started talking about this and now. Now, Ken Rosenthal isn't the only one talking about this. We got all sorts of people talking about it on Twitter. We also have Fenway rundown podcast, a podcast by Mass Live that features both Sean McAdams and Chris Cattillo talking about this as, well, where Chris, on this podcast, kind of mentions

10:23that the Red Sox and Parades talk aren't really dead yet and that they're still, you know, a little bit of a crack in that door. Now, those aren't exact words, but I'm kind of paraphrasing here. Sean McAdams also spoke about this and kind of echoed similar statements to me, saying that it would really doesn't make a ton of sense for Duran to be the named involved here. But the problem with this conversation is that it kind of has to be Duran. And that's, I think at this point, the issue with trading for E.S.O.K. parades. You can't really include Willier Breyue in this deal. You don't have another really high caliber power bat. I get parades could potentially be that, but at the same time too, Willier Breyue is a gold glove candidate. So not only see gold glove candidate, he's your potential, really power source this season. So you can't move that guy. You're not going to move Marcelo Meyer for E.S.O.K. parades when you could have moved him for Catelle Marte. If you didn't move him then, you're probably not moving him now. You're very obviously not going to move Roman Anthony. I think everyone be kind of shell shocked, especially for a guy like E.S.O.K. parades. Masa isn't a name that I think the A.S.O.K. parades are relatively interested in trading

11:25by E.S.O.K parades for. Tristan Cossus has very little value at this point in time because of his injury status. And then outside of that, it's like, okay, who else are you going to trade? Because the A.S.O.K. is looking for a left handed bat. Well, the only other left handed bat left on the red socks that we haven't mentioned just yet is Jaren DeRan. And you sit there and it's like, okay, so if the only thing that makes sense in a return is Jaren DeRan, I don't know unless you are able to include Masa in that deal that this makes sense for the red socks all that much. Does it make him a better or more efficient roster? I personally, I don't think so at this point. And again, as much as I was open to moving Jaren DeRan, it has to be for a very specific thing. I don't know if E.S.O.K parades is that super specific thing. He goes back to the same conversation we had when we first talked about E.S.O.K. parades. He said, the red socks in the Astros for as much as E.S.O.K parades to the red socks feels like a perfect match. And for as much as the Astros getting rid of E.S.O.K parades feels like a perfect fit, the actual package that would need to be put together in order for that to get done, to me, just was never really a perfect fit in terms of both sides being in agreement.

12:27And I think that's even more highlighted here now that you've got Caleb Derban on the roster. To me, ultimately what I like, E.S.O.K parades in the middle of this lineup, yeah, I think ultimately I would, right? I think this is kind of the exact bat the red socks are missing here, and I think it would kind of elevate them a little bit, but it comes down to, again, what it would take to actually get them on the roster and how much does that actually elevate your team? Would you rather have Jaren DeRan in 2026 being your, you know, kind of middle of the order bat, or would you prefer E.S.O.K parades to be the middle of the order bat? I think it's kind of a little bit of a wash, right? One's going to give you a little bit more home run potential, and the other one's going to do, I think, just about everything else, a little bit better, including staying healthy and in this lineup for a full season, right? So it's a very interesting conversation. I do find it extremely interesting that despite the fact that Ken Rosenthal kind of concedes, hey, the red socks and the Houston Ashes after the Derban trade haven't really had any contact about this, that this is still something that's being talked about both nationally and locally. Again, Chris Cattillo's in there saying, look, these talks aren't fully dead yet.

13:29They're not revived. They're not active, but they're not fully dead yet. I think to me, that's the most interesting part, because I think that shows the red socks, you know, despite the fact that on paper, they look pretty good, aren't 100% satisfied of what their roster is currently looking like. I think at this point for this to work, it's going to have to include Deran, and I think that's where I kind of stop with this E.S.O.K parades stuff. I just don't see how the value lines up for either side there, despite the fact that I think it kind of works for both sides as well. To be honest with you, I think this was always kind of the conversation, right? You know, the ashrows won't will your brain, the red socks won't willing to give up will your brain. Where the ashrows ever willing to take on Deran, the answer is probably not, right? Because then you probably don't get Caleb Durbin. To me, the Caleb Durbin move was a signal that, hey, the red socks and ashrows just simply weren't lining up, at least enough on the red socks side of things for them to be comfortable in making this deal. If the ashrows were willing to take on Deran and include some other stuff for E.S.O.K parades, I actually think this deal ends up getting done, but it doesn't, right? And so now you get Caleb Durbin, the red socks are fully pivoted, and I think

14:29it's just time to put this thing to bed for now. Maybe it's something we revisit at the trade deadline, you know? Maybe it's something that, hey, someone gets injured and now you're kind of back up against the wall. Let's talk to the ashrows about parades. Again, I just don't see it happening for the red socks, right? I got to be honest with you. I'm a little bit sick of talking about E.S.O.K parades, so let me know in the comment section down below.
