Strawberry Fields Care Home Expands for Seniors

Strawberry fields and strawberry haul lane just got approval from the local council to add 18 new bedrooms, helping them care for more seniors. Over age 65, with dementia or other needs. The home currently houses up to 45 residents and runs at 90% full, fielding four or five inquiries daily. From early 2024 to early 2025, they turned away between 150 people due to limited beds. Demand is exploding locally and nationwide with an aging population. The Alzheimer's Society says nearly 982,000 people in the UK have dementia now, a number headed to 1.4 million by 2040. The new two-story extension will bring 16 N-suite rooms plus two more in unused space. They'll hire four or five extra staff to join the current 44 and parking jumps from nine spots to 20 plus accessible and bike areas.
