Strange tech his stories (pneumatic travel and post)

Here we have another interesting tech story, the pneumatic lines of old. Were we once a relatively steampunk culture? Highly adept mechanically and not all just a bunch of consumers? Could be! I definitely think that in silly shows like Futurama we may be shown a glimpse of a past not of the future!
