Storms Leave Thousands Without Power in Alabama

Strong storms swept through Central Alabama Monday night, toppling tree limbs, full trees, and power lines in several spots. As of 1016 AM, Tuesday, 1,110 Alabama Power Customers in Jefferson County set without electricity, that made up more than half of the 1,941 total outages across the service area. Meanwhile, 348 customers in Tuscaloosa County dealt with the same issue, even as afternoon temperatures climbed toward 80 degrees. The National Weather Service heads out Tuesday to check damage in the hardest hit spots, including Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, and Winston counties.
