Storm Dave: Easter Travel Chaos Ahead

The Met Office has four yellow warnings out, covering wind across northern England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and most of Scotland, plus rain and snow. Up in the Scottish Highlands, these kick in this afternoon, from as early as 2 p.m. in Northern Ireland, right through to noon tomorrow in parts of Scotland. Plus could hit 50 to 60 miles per hour widely, wrapping up to 60 to 70 or even 90 in exposed spots. It'll peak today before weakening as it pushes into the North Sea tomorrow. Millions are hitting the roads, rails, air, and ferries for the holiday, and this could be the busiest Easter drive since 2022, with two million folks jetting abroad. Expect delays everywhere, plus big ways battering coasts, power outages, and risks from flying debris that could injure people. Work rail in Scotland flags the East Coast main line and air-shar coastlines as most vulnerable.
