1:06The Pittsburgh Steelers make their first move of the off season and things are rolling. A Santiago Junior returns to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one year $4 million deal. It is one of what I expect numerous cornerback signings for the Pittsburgh Steelers this off season. They're not done, but this signing made sense. And we'll dive into why it made sense. Where the Pittsburgh Steelers go next and why a Sante Samuel Junior may be replacing somebody that the Pittsburgh Steelers originally thought was going to come back and may still come back. But this move seems like a security blanket of a signing. Hey, hey, we need to make a move. We need to make sure that we're good. And he is the one guy that you can look at right now and say we have Brandon Eccles, but we saw what Brandon Eccles was last year. And I think Brandon Eccles is a really sound inside corner. I think a guy coming off the bench that's reliable. Brandon Eccles is that perfect corner. To me, him as your corner four is spot on to great move. And I say corner four because he's your backup slot. He's not gonna play on the outside much and when he does reliable, but not the guy that you want out there. Corner three to me could be a Sante Samuel Jr. Because again to me is a guy who could play outside and inside. And he's the guy that you're gonna want to develop into that starting slot corner. That's what you want a Sante Samuel Jr. to be. You want him to be the next Jalen Ramsey of the Pittsburgh

5:23Steelers, which is perfect. That's exactly what you're looking for somebody who's under the age of 27 who has so much potential in the NFL who has starting experience who can come in here and quite simply just be somebody with more upside than his price tag. And you hope he develops into that upside. If he does, it's a huge move for the Steelers and a win for the Pittsburgh Steelers that allows them to make decisions with Jalen Ramsey. Is he going to play safety? Is he going to play outside corner? Where do you put Jalen? How do you work with him? Quite frankly, I don't think Jalen Ramsey inside the organization right now is viewed as an inside only guy or a safety. The world moves fast. Now, things could change and their development of

7:31draft picks and where those draft picks end up going or being used on will change things drastically. But it's a great move for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's also a great move because James Pierre has a market and James Pierre's market will most likely be higher than what the Pittsburgh Steelers are willing to pay. James Pierre to me was the easy resigning the guy that comes in here and worst case scenario if everything else blew up you can start James Pierre on the outside and feel pretty comfortable about starting James Pierre on the outside. It's not a loss. It's not this huge detriment to your defense. James Pierre proved to be totally fine playing a starting corner role in 2025. And I think he could do it again in 2026. He's the missing, he's the weak link will say of the defense. But if your weak link is corner two, you're a pretty good spot, especially if that corner two comes up with plays from time to time and is reliable a lot of the time. Great move. But according to Josephine

8:36Anderson, he's got a market of eight to nine teams. I've heard that is markets high too. And if that's the case, he's not come back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Some teams going to offer him $89 million and the Steelers are going to offer him three and he's going to go with that other team as you should. The Steelers probably acknowledge that James Pierre is beyond their price tag. And that while loyalty is a thing and they did help James Pierre become James Pierre, it's time for him to go make some money and claim his starting role and not be viewed as a stopgap, but rather a key piece to a defense. I mean, this is exciting, guys, to to kick the tires on somebody, the morning of legal tampering period just shows you that this team does, they move fast. I've said it before. I'll say it again. People do not acknowledge that the Steelers move swiftly through free agency in recent years. But they do ever since the Mitch Trubitzky showing up season ever since Omar Khan took over as general manager, like since that happened. And honestly,

10:42beforehand, because Kevin Colbert had a sense of urgency to go out and get guys like Mitch Trubitzky and James Daniels and Cole Holcomb, all early in free agency. But ever since that year, the Steelers move much quicker than they used to. And they do things in a much quicker fashion. I expect more to come. I expect the Pittsburgh Steelers in legal tampering period to do things like negotiate with a left tackle and negotiate with some wide receivers and potentially land a deal with a left tackle or a left guard or a wide receiver. I anticipate the Pittsburgh Steelers are heavily involved in the safety market and could go after a guy like Chiquam brisker or somebody that we're just overlooking because Chiquam brisker is the fun, exciting Pittsburgh name. But I think that all of those are on the table. And the Pittsburgh Steelers going to be aggressive in going to get them early before

11:44Wednesday afternoon. And then there's Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers coming back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Guys, I don't know how many times I have to say it, but I'm going to continue to until he's actually here. He's coming back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's going to sign before Wednesday. It just all feels like that is just the notion from everybody. Everyone seems to agree with it inside the inside our world. And I mean, I've been told for weeks that Aaron Rogers is showing up before free agency. I've said to you guys that I've been told an exact date, but I won't say that dates because the second that you say that date and it's before or after you're wrong. But before Wednesday at I believe 12 p.m. Aaron Rogers will be here in Pittsburgh most likely. It's Aaron Rogers. So anything could happen. But I anticipate Aaron being one of at least two more moves that the Pittsburgh Steelers make between

12:47now and then. And I'll toss another name out there. I don't know if Kenny G's going to be one of them. People will ask, well, is Kenneth Walker on the table? But wouldn't that mean Kenneth Gainwell is gone? The Steelers definitely have interest in Kenneth Walker. They just don't expect to land him. But I also am starting to get the feel that Kenneth Gainwell is gone too. And maybe Asante Samuel is one of the only ones coming back to the Pittsburgh Steelers between now and Wednesday outside of Aaron Rogers. The other guys outside guys, which might be exciting, depending on how you view who the Steelers should be going after and who they should be bringing back. We'll see what happens, but a lot of exciting stuff coming for the black and gold over the next couple of days for sure.
