Stafford's Backup: Cousins or Garoppolo?

Retirement whispers after this year, the reigning NFL most valuable player is coming back strong, so now the team's hunting for a solid backup to keep things rolling. They've had Jimmy Garoppolo backing up Stafford the past two seasons, and he's hitting free agency this off-season. Head coach Sean McVey says they're definitely open to bringing Jimmy back if the deal lines upright. But McVey dropped a clear signal at the NFL league meetings in Phoenix, Arizona, straight up inviting four-time pro-bola Kurt Cousins to join the squad. Cousins just got released by the Atlanta Falcons on March 11, and is testing the free agent waters. Those two go way back. McVey was Washington's offensive coordinator from 2014 to 2016, when Cousins was the starter there.
