No waiting until tomorrow. Madam GM tonight is back. Well, I wouldn't be saying patties, then of course, without a little shipping up to Boston by the dropkick Murphy's. Welcome back to bed. MGM tonight. Westwood One Sports. I'm Pat Boyle. I'm saying patty. Well, number to join the show is 310 840 49 10. That's 310 840 49 10. Let's get producer Brandon Combs here in the mix. First comes. Let's get an update on the World Baseball Classic Championship. I know you have been laser focused in on this game. I got my multi view rock and I got Texas NC State and I've got the the World Baseball Classic game on. But I know that you have been locked into this game and then we'll do a little St. Patrick's Day. True or false. So give us an update here. We're going to the bottom of the six. What's going on? The offense is just flat, man. Cannot hit. You got air and judge out here swinging at absolutely junk.

In both of his at bats, the entire offense just looks flat. They've got to get it going. They've got to get it together. They're in his Venezuela bullpen now. So they've got to find a way string together some hits. It's a two-nothing deficit. But they can do this. I mean, look, all the firepower this team USA has, they've got the deeper bullpen. So you hold Venezuela to two. You got to come out. You got to hit, man, and I hope that they can get this done. They should be able to get this done. We'll see. We'll see how it goes. They just got to start hitting the ball, man. Yeah. Well, you would think hitting Eduardo Rodriguez would have been a lot easier. Yeah, but it's baseball, man, like I mean, like you get how many times do we say how many times in baseball, like in a major league season, do we look at a pitching matchup and you're like, man, they're going to kill this guy tonight. And the guy goes out there and throws a three-itter, like it's just, it's baseball, man.

It happens. Sometimes you think you're going to kill somebody and you go out there and you're just like, you think it's going to be so easy and it's just not. And he has a good night and it's like, it's a different feeling in the world, baseball class. He's in his country. He's put you for all of Venezuela right now, so it's a different feeling for a guy who's got a lot of talent. So, you know, it's one of those things. That's why we play the games. All right, fair enough. And it's Jose Bouteau coming into the game now. This is Jose Bouteau reliever for now. He's on the Giants. Last year, last couple of years, he was with the Mets and then the Mets traded him to the Giants. And this is a guy that was pretty decent at times when he was pitching, when he was healthy with the Mets, but they traded him to the Giants. That's who we finished last year with. That's who he's going to be with this year. So the Venezuelan Jose Bouteau out of the pen and it looks like he's got Pete Crow Armstrong.

You called it. Here's your guy. Pinch hitting here. Come. Yeah. PCA up to that. Pinch hitting for Byron Bucks, then to start off the bottom of the sixth inning. Yeah. Nice had, you know, Bryce Tarrang, been able to get on ahead of him in the fifth inning because I would have really liked to see PCA with a chance to tie the game in that moment just to see how he performed. But let's see how he does here one in one count quickly. So hopefully you can get on on base and they can get something going here. I love this kid, man. It's good. So so electric to watch night in and night out. What kind of has that? That is the same patty's day Cubs hat by the way that you got rocking right now. Yes, sir. PCA flies out to LaFields. Yes. The same patty's they have from a couple of years ago. This year's hat was actually black with the green sea on it. I have that one as well. But you know, I decided to go with the all green one today. I brought out my best. I brought out my green Notre Dame hat and I brought out my sluncher shirt, which is

cheers and gay. Yeah, you know, I have my my green shirt that I had worn like every day on St. Patrick's Day for like the last 10 years. And I was angry today because I could not find it. But it said green shirts are for pimps. That's a good one. All right, speaking of St. Patty's day, you got a segment cooked up here called St. Patrick's Day true or false? So explain what we are doing here. So I got some fallacies and some facts about St. Patrick's Day. And I'm going to see if Mr. Irishman himself were both Irish, but you know, you've got the Shamrock tatted on your on your upper breast. So, you know, we've right there it is. We've got to we've got to see where you stand. And if you can smell out the shite, if you will. All right, here we go. Oh, here we go. The first one, true or false, true or false,

the original color of St. Patrick's Day was green. Oh, man, I feel like that's a trick question right off the bat. The original color of St. Patrick's Day was green. I feel like that's a, I don't know it. I feel like it's a leading question. So I'm going to go and I'm not going to overthink this one. I'm going to go with true. I feel like it's always been green. I can't remember a St. Patty's Day that wasn't about green. I'll go true. It's actually false. The original color of St. Patrick's Day was blue. Green became linked to Ireland later, specifically as a symbol of rebellion in the 17th century. So originally, the official color of St. Patrick's Day was blue. All right, all right, over one, I'm off to a rough start. Off to a very rough start.

All right, so let me throw you a softball. St. Patrick was Irish. True. St. Patrick was absolutely Irish. Oh, for two, sir. Oh, for two. St. Patrick was born in Britain, likely Scottisher whales, around 390 AD, to Roman and aristocrat parents before being enslaved and taken to Ireland. Man, you really don't know your Irish stuff, huh? All right. Well, yeah, we, we, all right. All right, all right, true, that's fair. True or false, corn, beef and cabbage is not their traditional Irish meal for St. Patrick's Day.

That's true. That, that one I know is not Irish. That has become an Americanized meal, corn, beef and cabbage. That has become very American, but it's been a lot of Irish immigrants that started the corn, beef and cabbage, but no, it's not a traditional Irish meal in of itself. Yep. Correct. Corn, beef and cabbage, American invention created by Irish immigrants in New York, who founded a cheaper alternative to their traditional bacon and cabbage. All right. One in two, one in two so far, right now you're batting like Team USA is. All right, let's go to another one. The reason why St. Patrick was so beloved in Ireland was because he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. Well, that's, I mean, that's the thing. He drove all the snakes out of Ireland. So I'm going to go ahead and say true. If he was beloved for another reason, it's beyond me.

Yeah, it's, it's absolutely false. It did. It was not because he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. Those freezing temperatures after the ice age prevented snakes from living there. So they never had any snakes to be driven out. Man. Who the hell started that one then? It's a myth. It's a myth. It's a man. I don't know who started it. I mean, I wasn't alive in 390 AD. I so I have no clue who started the myth, but it's a myth. All right. Let's go with, I'm trying to go to another one. All right. Here we go. The first St. Patrick's Day Parade took place in Florida, not in Ireland, true or false.

First St. Patrick's Day Parade. I don't think it was in Ireland. I also don't think it was in Florida. So I'm guessing it's probably one of the other the way you ask the question. You know what? I'll go reverse psychology here. I'll go true. It was in Florida. The first St. Patrick's Day Parade took place in 1601 in the Spanish colony of St. Augustine in Florida, not in Ireland, led by the colonies, Irish, the car, correct. So you are you are two out of five, two out of five. All right. All right. Here we go. We got time for a couple more. Let's go with this one. Here in on St. Patrick's Day, nearly 13 million pints of Guinness are consumed worldwide on March 17th, true or false, 13, 13 million pints worldwide.

That sounds like a good number to me. I'll go true. It is absolutely true. While a public holiday in Ireland, the day is celebrated globally, roughly 13 million pints. Again, this are consumed worldwide on March 17th, according to Ravlar home care. I don't know why, why Rellovar home care is the say so of that, but they are they are the authority. All right. Here we go. Here's your chance to get over the hump. You're three and three is your chance to go out. You're either a winner or a loser on St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's name is Patrick. True or false? No. That's false. I know St. Patrick is not actually Patrick, so I don't I don't know his actual name. I think it was I think it was something very Gaelic because the name that's like very tough to pronounce, but I know it was not Patrick. So false. St. Patrick's birth name was likely Maven Sakat only changing it to Patrickus after

becoming a bishop. Correct. You go out a winner, sir. You go out a winner. You sort of know your Irish history. I'm getting there. I'm getting there. They're the whole snakes thing. That's BS. That's a whole metaphor for the church, probably, but I believe he actually did drive out the snakes. All right. Come. Great job. A historian, a teacher and a purveyor of relics. When we come back, we'll do some hot or cold. We'll continue the fun here on this St. Paddy's Day on Ben M.G. This is Westwood One Sports.
