On March 24th, spring training wrapped up its first look at the automated ball-strike challenge system

and the early data lines up closely with last.

Year's AAA results across more than 1,800 challenges from all 30 teams, the overturn rate hit 53%.

Fielding teams won 60% of theirs, mostly from catchers who handled 95% of those calls,

while batter succeeded just 45% of the time.

This mirrors the full AAA season almost exactly, building confidence in what to expect next.

Only 1.4% of all pitches drew a challenge, and even among those tricky takes right on the edge of the zone, it was just 7%.

Most games saw two or fewer overturns, with 65% fitting that pattern, showing teams are getting the hang of it without overdoing.

Catchers dominated challenges from behind the plate, but struggled as batters, challenging less often and winning at the lowest rates alongside.
