0:00Oh, what's this, Miss Mia Mia? We have incoming messages. Let's see who it could be. My name is Dawson, and I live in Oregon. And I want to learn about Stingray's, please. Hi, Ducky Pickles and Miss Mia. I'm Liberty from Michigan. I would like to request Stingrays. You're right. Stingrays are a wow's rific request. 1:17Hey, howdy and hippopotamus. Hi, fives, my sleepy friend. It's your old pal, Ducky Pickles. And I'm here with my sidekick. The sleepiest cat in all the land. Miss Mia Mia. Tonight, instead of a story, we're floating into a warm shallow lagoon where the water shimmers like melted silver, tiny bubbles drift upward like underwater fireflies and just beneath the surface, a tiny baby Stingray known as a pup glides like a floating pancake. This is a place where you can feel peaceful, safe and relaxed.
2:20Great idea, Miss Mia Mia. Let's take a few deep breaths together so we can feel extra cozy. Take in a deep breath through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Great job. Just one more time, my sleepy friend. Take in a deep breath through your nose. And then exhale through your mouth. As you breathe in and out, feel your body becoming light as sea foam, drifting gently on the tide, my sleepy friend. Imagine dipping beneath the surface into a glowing blue world. Sun beams dance through the water, making ripples of gold on the sandy floor.
3:32And then just ahead, something tiny flaps by like a watery butterfly. It's a baby Stingray. Baby Stingrays are ridiculously cute with round little bodies and the sweetest little faces underneath, smiling in a way that makes your heart melt. Even though those aren't actually mouths, they are just gill slits that look like cartoon eyebrows. Stingray pups are born already shaped like perfect many versions of their parents. They pop out ready to swim, flap and wiggle like underwater burritos unrolling into ocean life.
4:43They can be anywhere from three inches wide, about the size of a ginger snap cookie, up to 13 inches wide, about the size of a frisbee. Did you know most baby Stingrays have a stinger that's about the length of a paperclip? Their stinger is like a tiny sharp safety tool on its tail that it uses to protect itself. Baby Stingrays glide through the ocean, smooth, quiet, soft, like someone slowly waving a silk blanket through the water. Baby Rays are gentle, curious little explorers who spend their time learning how to wiggle through
5:52the sand and hide under it like cozy sleeping ninjas. Miss Meow Meow says if she had flappy wings like that, she'd never stop doing underwater dances. When baby Stingrays get tired, they settle down on the sand and flutter their little wings just a tiny bit to cover themselves. A sprinkle of sand here, a sprinkle of there, and poof. They're a soft round bump on the seafloor, a tiny pancake pretending to be a pebble, safe, hidden, dreamy. Sometimes when they rest, their little eyes poke out of the sand.
7:03They watch the world drift by, a crab doing crabby business, a fish wagging its tail, like a puppy dog, or an octopus changing its color and texture to match with the coral reef. The ocean is full of wonders, even for creatures who like to map, have buried in sand. Baby Stingrays also learn to flap their wings in deeper water, making slow figure eights. It looks like flying because it is flying just underwater. The whole world moves in calm, gentle motions. My sleepy friend, can you feel your body becoming
8:14soft and wavy, like a stingray pup drifting with the tide? Everything feels slow, peaceful, and weightless. For the next little while, we'll stay here in the gentle tide, resting with the baby Stingrays, hidden, floating, and safe. Sweet dreams, my sleepy friend.
